There are two muscles in your throat, one diverts your air pipe from your throat, the other blocks your nasal cavities from your mouth. When you swallow you use them both unconsciously. Start by breathing through your mouth and stopping the flow of air consciously. That is the first muscle. Now, keep your mouth closed, breathe through your nose and stop the flow of air. This should be the second muscle, you should now be able to keep this muscle flexed and breathe through your mouth. To take a shot, breathe in through your nose and close the flow. Take the shot, swallow, swish your chaser and swallow, then relax the muscle and you will have tasted nothing.
