''(…) even if it will be very difficult to succeed by advancing straight ahead,
it will not do to think about going at it in a long roundabout way.
One’s heart may slacken, he may miss his chance, and by and large there will be no success.
The Way of the Samurai is one of immediacy, and it is best to dash in headlong.''

I played this soundtrack at my house. Now I live in a dojo.
Do you live in a Mojo Dojo Casa house? 😂
Story 10/10
Characters 10/10
Animation 10/10
Music 10/10
Best show I've ever watched
antagonist ending 2/10 though
warch attack on titan . Blue eye samurai i watched nearly , but it is not close to attack on titan.
Mizu might be one of the most well written female protags of all time
Killing 100 men at a time is shit writing
Also Akemi is! They are both amazingly written and a perfect example of modern women in a medieval society. One of the Pearls of Netflix in my opinion! 👌👌
@@thecappeningchannel515agreed, they just wrote her as a Man in a females body.
@@thecappeningchannel515 You say it as if for example in the equalizer or Die hard, Stallone, Arnold schwarzenegger movies and mission impossible this isn't the case. She loses multiple times within the series and quite brutally too, both in mind and body. Even when she defeats enemies when the odds are stacked against her it's not some feat of a strong woman, it's always metaphorically hinted within the series her resemblance to the Onryo, the japanese vengeful spirit. As a result even this that looks like a pro for her ends up being a con as everyone sees her as a demon and not an actual human being which makes her spiral downwards psychologically even harder.
That series was a real breakthrough of 2023 for me, could've not thought I needed it in my life.
I can't get enough of Blue Eye Samurai, honestly couldn't wait for the second season
Couldn't it isn't there yet - is it?
@@tobiasklos2014 it's announced that there will be a second season
Oh Thank God. Netflix has habit of cancelling great shows.@@WitheredMalignous
If they don't change the studio for create the second season. It's gonna maybe be a bad second season. So don't hype yourself too much haha.
@@NatureFreak1127Rip Inside Job. Sacrificed to feed the monster that is Big Mouth.
I love everything about Fowler as an antagonist, he's foreign both in lore and in appareance, he has strange sounding soundtracks along with him, and has one of the best interpretation of the European market in Japan in my opinion ; " Death is our number one export ".
Oh also he's Irish.
I completely agree!! He's so unique and every line he has feels intimidating, yet insightful and playful. I get excited every time he gets on screen.
@@oliviastevens4870 also, to quote some of my friends ; " damn he's so badass ! ", i can't wait to see him again in S2 !
I find him to be the most repulsive and terrifying. fits for an antagonist. I think his sexual violence is what disgusts me most.
@@cedar4539 he's especially terrifying. His backstory, talent with his fists and failed coup are all here to back he's terror aura, which makes him a distinct villain.
While i love the morally ambiguous antagonist who you still empathize with despite his actions, i feel like we had so many of those in recent years (and a lot of them not done well) that fowler is a breath of fresh air.
While we get one scene where we hear his backstory,
This is not a man who should be empathized with.
He is the definition of a sadist.
When he beats up a tortured taigan in the ninth level you could feel his joy.
This is a man who gets happy seeing others suffer, he is despicable, which is why he is such a good antagonist to mizu, a morally gray character who has a lot to learn.
Not to mention he is such a charismatic villain, he steals evey scene he is in
i can't look at that picture of her it's too heartbreaking :(
She truly felt safe with him.
For the first time in her life she felt safe
And we will never know 100% who betrayed her
This show has generational potential
God, I'm in _love_ with Mizu's reoccurring theme. Especially 56:20 - _Melted Metal & Mizu's Rebirth_ .
She is a flawed and broken person, her soul fragmented and hollow, held together solely by a sense of wrath and a pursuit of meaningless revenge. Her journey has taken her through literal hell. Yet, she's slowly starting to find her humanity again and learning to trust others. I can't wait to see her character development in season 2.

Only satisfied"

This soundtrack is unbelievable
I am a woman, also have blue eyes, also have male-dominated interests, and my father also sucked major ass (as in, went to prison for violence and rape, thankfully absent in my life from birth). I always had a fascination with Japan. So when I saw this anime, I just.... felt so right, for once in my life. Finally an outsider like me. But, like, a cool one. Now, I have this epic soundtrack to play whenever I feel down about my life.
I think everything changes when you can relate to someone else. When you recognize and see yourself in the words of another you suddenly realize: I'm not the only one!
This became the first pillar of the foundation upon which everything else was built and I've been reading Philosophy ever since. A while ago, I reached a point where I felt at ease sharing some of the things that provided me with significant assistance. And these days I just try to give back by sharing things that I find valuable.
For me personally, I think there's tremendous strength in learning, realizing and accepting who we are, deep down. It's an inexhaustible fount.
Thank you for your lovely comment and I wish you all the best! Truly.
I feel the same
You are need to stop blaming yourself and being a victim, man up as they say
personally mizu made me feel more comfortable in building strength in my body rather than starving it to look “feminine.” i also relate a lot to her, especially her past
When you listen to the OST you can feel the sadness and hatred inside Mizu.
Especially with that picture of her as a bride
yes a beutyfull tragdey...
I don't think there is anyone who can't relate to Mizu in some way.
Wwaaaa as azz a
I can. Trust me. I can.
I can't.
Yes. I have blue eyes.
you're wrong.
Beautiful soundtrack and great series. When I hear the shamisen I cannot help but think of Zatoichi.
I think I saw a interview somewhere in which the director stated that she used Zatoichi as inspiration for the series.
@@DarknessIsMyAlly There are so many obvious influences, like Zatoichi, Kill Bill movies, Samurai Champloo...
For me it's Kubo and the Two Strings.
Clicked on this thinking it was a Rurouni Kenshin reference, and yet am not entirely disappointed. Now I have a new anime to watch lol.
That's actually one of my all time favorites. What made you think of the Battousai?
One of the first clips I ever made was from Rurouni Kenshin. I think I still have it somewhere. Iconic Music.
''Am I afraid of Hiko Seijuro? Of the absolute death that lies behind him?''
th-cam.com/video/MJ76LviD9Zc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks a lot for reminding me Emily! I haven't heard this in years. Best wishes!
Aw, thanks! Back at ya! I just thought that Rurouni Kenshin was referred to as the Blue Eyed Samurai somewhere in the anime itself. I never had the opportunity to read the manga growing up, so that's the only place I could've gotten it from. I'll have to go listen to that link now, lol. Thank you for the good music! I am trying to think up a story as part of a project, although it'll probably never see the light of day, considering I need to actually Start it. But, just finding music to hit the right feels for writing in different parts of it is proving to be a fun side project itself, so, thank you!

@@emilyp8928 My pleasure. I think I know exactly what you mean.
You hear or see something that speaks to you, and it leads to a whole stream of thoughts and emotions that you inevitably feel the need to pursue to the end.
One of my greatest joys is finding that perfect piece of music, quote, or scene from years ago that actually complements or contributes something to what I wrote.
If I may give you but one example, it would be the words of Anthony Hopkins:
29:27 -> th-cam.com/video/89ebmiHbbDI/w-d-xo.html
''Don't give up. Just keep in there, keep fighting. *Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid.* And that has sustained me through my life.''
That's as real and honest as I can make it. I really hope you keep writing!
Believe in yourself. Keep reading, studying and researching. Never give up.
Don't mirror yourself to others, do not expect validation or recognition, express what you think and feel.
Believe in the things that are good, now and forever.
Best of luck Emily!
And thank you for replying. It means a lot.
That cello at 1:00:00 gives me chills every time. Just Mizu, her bloodlust and fury, in all her raw tragedy and misery and vengeance. This show is gorgeous.
59:44
I actually clicked on this video to find this song from the show.
I didn't know what it was called but i think it's actually interesting.
It's called "revenge at all cost"
Usually if we hear that sentence we think the person who wants revenge is cool and justified in their actions.
But when does this track play?
First of all, when Fowler beats taigan to death in front of mizu, and she learns that her "solo journey" actually affects others more than she realised.
It also plays when the entire city of edo is burning down, and while akemi and taigan are trying to help others, mizu is focused on revenge.
Fowler even tells her how the city of edo is burning around them because of her,
Because of her quest for "revenge at all cost".
Mizu still has a lot of development to go through in order to change as a character, but it's here that she starts to see that she probably hurt innocent people the same way people hurt her.
THAT'S revenge at all cost
One of the best series or pieces of film work I have ever watched.
Also I do not need live action anything. Give me stuff like this and Arcane all day every day.
I actually never listened to the whole soundtrack. What a fool I was!! This is f**king amazing!!! Many of the songs gave me chills! 😳😳Thank you so much for making this! 🙏🙏
Amazing series and ost! 11/10!
Best goddamn show of 2023
Best thing I've seen in 2023
People Always Change After Being Hurt.
SEASON 2 IS FINNA GO CRAZY CANT WAIT
Listening to "Kinuyo's Promise Fulfilled" there's several points when I can't not hear the start of the melody for the Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black".
Omg, I knew I wasn't the only one who noticed that!!
Many thanks for your music!
Something that is pretty neat is that in 56:20 Melted Metal and Mizu's Rebirth, you can hear a combination of Mizu and Akemi's themes.
I cried so many times watching this one
I know those eyes the tears the pain lost and hatred Mizu is a wonderful charachter that inspired me to draw again....
so goddamn good I really rate it highly. Perfect female hero!!!
One of the best Netflix Series that really hit hard mentally
The first track is my favorite, undoubtably.
"How did this terrible creature come to be? Hate alone was not enough. It took one more ingredient. Love... poisoned by betrayal"
against all odds
-do not lose.
I haven't watch the show yet, the music just started playing while I was working. Now I know what to do later today, gotta watch the show
Similar story here - didn't even know what it was, but the music started playing from a random playlist while in the office. Out of curiosity I've tried the series...
... and the music sadly turned out to be the only good thing about it. Even if I still can't find the piece that plays during Mizu and Mikio's sparring. But it's been a while since something disappointed me this much.
Majestic. Love it.
Amazing score worthy of any epic movie
Could be just out of a movie
Take a character design tip, do not make "a character" make "a character your story needs", Mizu reflects that perfectly, from her clothes, to her hiding she is woman to even her glasses hiding her eyes. Build your character around your story, not your story around your character.
Très bonne réflexion sur la philosophie du travail : vertue mais jusqu'à quel point ? Il faut trouver l'équilibre. Merci Fabrice pour ce questionnement rare chez les gens...
Japanese music always touch the soul . Thanks❤
it's wild to me how they had an OST this good and decided to use licensed music over these phenomenal tracks
They used just a couple anachronistic new tracks in a couple of places where deemed appropriate, this was all used as well, what exactly do you mean?
@ I'm a hater on licensed music in things often times. Within the show there were multiple scenes where it felt like the chosen track was picked almost at random over the tracks within their arsenal. The assault on the Scotsman hideout was a big offender of this. To whom the bell tolls doesn't fit at all it's a completely different tone which took me out of the show something fierce. It's a personal criticism which detracted from my enjoyment of the series
@@colebarber8485 I know what you mean but I actually liked the choices, I thought it was specifically done for contrast since there had been many pure emotional scenes played completely straight just before that. The relief that tonal whiplash causes is compounded I think by the longer episode run time. It helps shock me back into paying attention, which explains why those excerpts are mostly very brief.
I'm honestly kind of with you; I'm usually a bit of a sucker for a good needle drop but....for this one it usually took me out of it a bit, and was really noticeable compared to the excellent OST.
Hilariously the *one* exception in that for me was the short segment of For Whom The Bell Tolls at the start of the Fowler assault.
I didn't love it for the fight later, but the intro actually kinda worked for some reason.
I hear hints of The Last Samurai OST by Hans Zimmer
Any anime to recommend that is as good as Blue Eye Samurai?
As personal preferences can vary greatly, I imagine it's difficult to find an exact match for the unique qualities of Blue Eye Samurai. (If there even are any.)
However, these are a few of the more recent ones that I personally felt were worth watching and saving.
Arcane
Edgerunners
Blood of Zeus
Castlevania
Dota Dragon's Blood
Dragon's Dogma
Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
Fate/Zero

Ghost in the Shell (of course)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
