Great tutorial! But I can't help to notice the brush creates borders on some occasions. To solve this, after you use levels on the clouds, you can go to filters > others > offset and adjust the image so the borders will appear as they would during your use. Then, you can paint over it or just use the patch tool as I did to make it seamless. Hope it helps 🤟
Thanks Daniel, this is definitely helpful! A shortcut for this is to make the texture in 1042x1024 or 2048x2048 for larger clouds and it will automatically make the clouds seamless.

I actually finished yesterday some basic photoshop and illustrator classes, and barely know that brushes existed. But decided to use watercolor background on a portrait i did, and this was so easy and fun to do. Thank you so much! I love this brush with all my soul since I'm a watercolor artist starting in digital media. The only thing I did diferent is making the cloud pattern a seamless one since when I use a big brush I could see the edges where the cloud pattern ended and started again. Other than that you helped me a lot!

The oil brush from the legacy looked a bit different for me - the edges were smooth (blurry) compared to yours. So, I decided to use the "Heavy smear wax crayon" from the legacy "dry media brushes". It worked very well!! Thanks for another fantastic tutorial

Having seen them I was just wondering whether I can make and print a large background for my photography studio using canvas of 8ft x 16ft. I want to use grunge effect in it, is there a tutorial for making grunge textures, I could not find one in your website. Or is there a tutorial which can be improvised to bring in the grunge effect. Your tips to make such large prints will be of great help. Thanks again.
A few things, make sure your resolution and color are set for your specific printer this information should be on their website or just call them. For the watercolor brush, make sure the cloud pattern used is seamless. I may do a follow up tutorial to demonstrate this. For grunge, you can add a texture overlay or use a grunge style brush (Photoshop has a good selection of these in defaults) set to color burn or some other dark blend mode for a custom grunge overlay.

Yes, you could also set up your working canvas in multiples of 2. 512, 1024 pixels are both good sizes for this. Your clouds will automatically be seamless. You can also use the cloud pattern from Photoshop defaults as well. Photoshop has many options. I’m so glad this was helpful!

Illustrator brushes function differently than Photoshop. You can use a watercolor image to create art brushes in Illustrator, but the watercolor doesn’t “flow” like you get with Photoshop.
Hey Mercedes, what's your document size? I tried using the free brush set, but when I used them on a canvas larger than whatever document you chose to create them, when I paint, I'm getting a hard line where (I think) the edge of the filter>render>clouds is. So I need to make a new brush but filter>offset the clouds first and make them seamless I think, I'm not sure. I'm using brush 4, but I want to do the same initial document size because it comes out well.
Try using a power of two 256, 1024, etc. for your document size, it will automatically make the clouds seamless. You can also use the cloud texture that comes with Photoshop.

You usually say in the beginning of your videos what the document size is but I don't think this one had it for some reason. Do you remember the size by any chance? To keep the cloud texture seamless use 1024x1024 pixels to make the cloud texture that will go into the brush. This should take care of the seam you get when drawing on larger canvases. I may do an update on this, the seam has always bothered me too, lol.

Thank you, I believe it was 500x500px but the size doesn’t matter, you can make the brush pattern big or small and adjust the size in brush settings. Just give yourself a working space that’s comfortable for you.

I didn’t mention this in the video but if you make your clouds with 1024x1024, 2048x2048, etc. it will be seamless that will remove the lines
