  • Learn the biblical perspective of submission and its relationship to worry and peace of mind. It is supremely important to get the very specific instructions that God has given to us in our various walks of life. Being biblical involves both doctrine and practice.

    Thank you for making your teachings available. I'm not in america and sadly most churches in my country are deeply engaged in hype, with very little sound doctrine. May God bless you a lot Pastor Mike.

    God's timing is perfect... after 10 years in Christ I feel like I'm born again, again. Listening to God's word broken down in bite size pieces.. after being in a wilderness so to speak for a few years now. Glory to God! Praising His name... Jesus. I loved the part were we are to cast our cares in Him and not at Him. Brilliant!! Praying you continue in this ministry and blessed beyond what you can think or imagine !

    This is a good message. It’s hard sometimes (to understand authority) but I’m really glad God clarifies - abuse from authority is not okay, and, authority only has authority over its own jurisdiction.

    Is it normal for Americans to take cheap shots at politicians (14:31) from the pulpit? It seems unnecessarily divisive.
    Since you got me thinking on politics are government social programs (forced charity) unbiblical (20:48).

      @@ArmyScoutMom it's the second time I hear him bashing Trump in one of his videos. I find it so annoying when Christians who I thought prided themselves on being thorough, make such remarks. Like man, do some research and ask yourself why you dislike the man so much, and then test those reasons if they're actually founded in truth or you just gonna believe CNN? I expected more....

    • @ArmyScoutMom
      @ArmyScoutMom ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MessyLittleFoodie Agreed! That's why I commented even though the video is old (you can see he is much younger here) I believe he has matured since then somewhat. However, MOST (not 100%) of his teachings are spot on. I don't want to "throw the baby out with the bath water"... even Mike himself says he's not 100% right, it's his opinion and we should research ourselves and pray for discernment. I do that with ALL youtube ministers I follow. We should never blindly follow any spiritual leader. The pastor at the church I use to attend is a ridiculous self proclaimed "fan-boy" of William Lane Craig... long story but suffice it to say, I and my 5 friends have not gone back...

    • @klimurgnus
      @klimurgnus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MessyLittleFoodie I wouldn't say that Mike bashes Trump or that this is a political remark, all he is says here is that just because Trump is "great" (ie powerful and prominent) that does not make him wise. Its a character judgement. I'm a conservative, but I certainly don't think Christians should praise Trump as "wise." Regardless of how you see Trump as a political leader, its obvious that he does not exhibit a Christian character. Proverbs tells us that the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, so its not proper for Christians to go around publicly praising men who do not fear our Lord. Sadly, there are many American Christians who more readily defend Trump than they do Jesus Christ. Who died for us? Who is worthy of our praise?

    Hi Pastor Mike, this bideo os old so I doubt you will ever see this comment, but this sermon left me with a few wonderings.
    For one, regarding submission to elders and church authority, why then do protestants not seek reconciliation and wholeness with the catholic or orthodox church? Both churches are older, and were a church authority over protestants, some argue they still are in that salvation cannot be found outside of them.
    I am a protestant, personally, but I also know where to admit my ignorance. I have tried to learn what I can about both churcjes, but still feel hesitant that either is the one and only truth as they claim.
    Secondly, about submission to authority, but also authority is given by God. How do we reconcile that in the case of countries formed via revolution, particularly America which was formed on a (I daresay Christian) theistic foundation. How can it be reconciled that this nation is illegitimate by nature of how it was formed, but the governance of the nation we must submit to as it is authority given by God?
    What about future rebellions or civil wars? Will the Christians of that time be obligated to side with the government?
    What about certain issues we face today, like privacy concerns? Because the government is given authority by God, are Christians obligated to relinquish their privacy to the government as is the way it's going?
    I know the line was stated clearly, "Submit first to God, second to all other earlthy authorities," but does that mean even when something is wrong, but not necessarily forcing a Christian to turn against God they must submit to it?
    I want to submit properly, but I know I struggle with a rebellious heart. It's easy to reconcile with God as He is perfect, so even if I disagree with something, God has to be the one who os correct. But men are fallible, they can be corrupt and evil, it is much more difficult to reconcile my rebellious heart with authorities I find myself skeptical of, at best, or distrustful of, at worst.

    Your modern version twisted the verse.
    Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, ALL of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
    ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬
    When you said that verse was for younger people, I knew that couldn’t be right and checked my bible. The word is for ALL.

    Hi Mike. First of all I'd like to thank you, and particularly God for your ministry. It's been wonderful to listen to you. A question, though (not a criticism). Near the beginning, you explain about the submission of younger people to their elders - "submit yourselves to YOUR elders." The explanation about submitting to just your own elders makes sense and seems to be completely biblical. However, although almost every translation puts the word 'your' in front, I can find no Greek version that has this. Does the word translated as 'elder' actually directly imply 'your own elders' or is it just a biblical transference to the word? Thanks again. May God bless you, and those you serve, in your ministry.

      William Lane Craig is one of my favorite apologists and debaters! Incredibly intelligent, and he wields the sword of the Truth oh so fiercely. Watching his (couple of hour long) debates and has really helped me get confident in what the Word says and the logical and literal sense it all makes. Frank Turek is also great and one of my favorite ladies is Melissa Dougherty. She deals with a lot of New Age philosophy, from once being a part of the community, and she makes a lot of friendly, but super DUPER informative youtube videos on TH-cam under the same name. And she is just such a cool person (and artist!).
