The idea is cool, especially for people with mobility issues, but the execution. . . Well, I'm not worried about AI taking over for nail artists anytime soon 😂
Problem: this falls into the same bin as every other "would be great for disabled people, *but* " product. It's _heinously_ overpriced for us. I struggle with muscle jerks while painting my nails, and often have to go back to clean up overpainting. I don't exactly have an extra $250 to blow on something like this, and if I did... I'd just go to a professional manicurist LOL
@@Menoetia Oh for sure! It's horribly expensive for what it currently does. I guess maybe the thought is that it would be cheaper long term if it actually worked? Might be good for people with social anxiety too. I could never justify the current price and outcome though.
I do design and engineering work on machines like this, and I can spot the problem: the brush stays vertical and only moves up and down. Nails aren’t perfectly flat, so it’s not physically possible for it to cover the whole nail surface evenly if at all. In its current form, it will never be a replacement for a human hand. If it worked well it would save money in the long run over regular manicures - even at $500 to $1000. They should’ve charged a bit more and given the brush head a rotational axis so it could follow the contours of the nail. Also they need to REALLY work on the quality of the brushes and the atrocious amount of wasted polish. I wish it worked, but I’m not confident in this company’s ability to follow through with long-term development needed to make that actually happen. The reviews aren’t inspiring confidence in sales numbers for version 2, if there is one. Still, thanks for the review, great video!
i wonder how much better this machine would be with something like a sponge instead of a brush, though I imagine that might mess up the application. i feel like stickers over your fingers that expose the nail with an airbrush mechanism would be better than this lol
The AI behind it is likely only trained on white skin too. And cameras in general are often calibrated such that they work better with white skin. Not that Cristine of Simply Nailogical got a better result, but she has a very strong C curve to her nails and keeps her nails long, so its possible it couldn't actually reach the tips of her longest nails due to the physical constraints of the robot arm or the sides. But she also did only one hand so didn't get passed the practice mani. I think one step its missing is a calibration step after the polish is done for it to then learn from its mistakes. But with how AI works, it tends to either hallucinate data or alternatively it favours repeatability over all else. You see that happening with spell checkers using AI. If hundreds of people mistype "the" as "tge" then it will start suggesting you type "tge" when you typed "the" correctly. So its possible that if most of the people using it get poor results, it could learn that a poor result is actually an ok result. If you stop the mani, there is the option to say "poor mani" as a reason, but it doesn't ask for any further details. Like in what way is it poor? Overpainting requires a different fix to under painting, brush marks needs a different fix to patchy sheer application. Its not actually getting useful data to correct with. So like there are likely a ton of issues on top of rotational axis issues. My partner had to work with a robot arm for a job at work and it was actually quite challenging to get it to behave as expected for what they were trying to do (admittedly a novel use case) but it took very odd paths to get from one point in space to another & didn't follow the same path every time. Probably fine if using for manufacturing when that's less of an issue. But for what they needed.... took a LOT of work to programme that correctly to follow the same path repeatedly. And that was just getting it to do a 360 basically (before they moved to something more complex). At the price point they were selling this machine at, there's no way they had a robot arm anything like the one my partner has worked with. That cost way more... So yeah, cheap arm, governed by flaky AI... recipe for disaster.
For sure they should rethink this and make it with gel. Instead of a fan it would be a gel led curing lamp! And for sure figure out the finger spacing and scanning.
I was thinking the same thing. Gel would be better but when I saw what a terrible job it does painting the nails I thought what a nightmare it would be to get the gel off. It’s a really cool idea but it needs quite a bit of perfecting. And all that lint or whatever it is😬
I was really baffled when they _didn't_ choose gel honestly. But I see why: if the bot messes up regular polish (which i no doubt will) you can clean it up easier...
I was thinking about that too, but with the execution having gel seems kinda 'dangerous' (thinking of allergies and what not). Imagine it getting on your skin or flooding your cuticles and then having the UV cure it... Even with a better painting algorithm it seems a bit iffy using something like gel.
I’ve never seen you before, but I’m glad you came up today. You and your husband made me smile quite a bit! You gave this machine every chance. You are so positive thru this entire process! I remember when u first mentioned it in 2021 it’s so crazy tht u waited this long for this😭 it’s so much more of a hassle than just painting them normally
In the time it would take me to set that thing up I could have showered, done my hair & makeup & painted all ten of my own fingers. Looks like a nightmare. Not for me. Thanks for showing this this thing😂
There was another thing like this you got i remember. I dont think these things will ever take place of a beautiful freehand artistically painted nail set❤
Sis, you are committed to giving us good and full review content! I would have been so done if I had to remove my other hand to move forward. Thank you for your content!!
Thanks for taking the time to review this. I was curious but I don’t think I would have made it through the setup much less the actual painting session. I see you left and came back another day 😂. Yes, they have some kinks to work out!
Wow I saw Simplynailogical use the same machine on a livestream and your results were identical 💀 even more discouraging since two different people’s nails went in and came out questionable. Might get better results using an air fryer (and it would take up less space too) 😂
WOW 😂 This reminds me if when Napster was released and it only took 23 hours to download a song with dial up 😅 Maybe this would have been innovative I 1993 but I have feeling this machine will end up in a land fill along with all those giant printers and computer monitors .....
First off, thanks for taking one for the team with this crazy machine..... But there's no way I'm waiting that long for that mess....🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And the fact that the polish is not where I can use later than 10 days is not for me..... Girl, good luck with it..... Happy Mother's Day.....
I seen the express manicures at the airport which was about the same size but had a screen above (I don’t think it was attached to the machine just like an iPad or something placed above the machine all contained in a big plastic cover like an atm, I assume it’s so no one steals or ruins anything) It however produced an almost perfect mani in under 30 minutes. There was an assistant helping put the colors in and there to just help the client if need be. I was very pleasantly surprised. They had hundreds of colors and I did a different color on each nail just to compare quality and there was no streaking, definitely no brush hairs, and nothing on my skin. Pretty awesome if you’re waiting for your flight. It looked to be the same type of machine (hard to see since it’s encased) The same hand press came down and same double slots of course it came out way better and it does different people all day so it’s not learning your nails. I think that company was probably trying to replicate the airport ones but failed miserably. That was hard to watch knowing how long you had to wait and wait for something my uncle with Parkinson’s could do. I’d definitely get your money back girl, that bs is gonna collect dust. Thank you ma for always taking the risk on items and testing them so we can get the true real review. 👑 YOU ARE THE BOSS 👑
Girl, they deleted me outta that group so fast 😆 🤣 😂 I canceled my order after they tried that polish nonsense about not being able to return it. I'm glad you stuck with it. Because now I see that just maybe I made a good choice! Idk though 😆 🤣 😂
Haha Evie! You are so funny. The colors are nice but yeah this machine has a long way to go. Thanks for experimenting with all this stuff for us! It’s so fun to see
I just placed my first order for patty jel I'm so excited to try I'm a newly self taught nail artist iv been doing mine and my daughters an family's for years but just recently started doing other out side of family's and so I'm excited to use urs for all kinds of things to incapacitated flowers to nails to designing and all I love ur videos always watching!!
I remember Christine simply nailogical made a similar video with another robot 5 years ago i guess ( not sure) it was way cheaper and it did a very nice job and didn’t take that much time
Lol!!! Bless u for doing this!! I was frustrated just watching and you sped up the video for us lol. I saw the IG ads for this too and it looked way neater than it is lol thanks again!
I’m so grateful that you had time, money, and patience to test this machine. Thank you for showing us the entire process. Evie you are a saint honey! I hope you got that refund going. 🙏🏽 Praying it doesn’t take 3 years to get your money back. 😂
It's a no from me, but it was very entertaining to watch you doing it. I grow and paint my own nails, regular polish, no gel. I do my nails once a week, it takes me about 40 minutes to do my usual 5 coats. Base coat, 2x nailpolish, glutter, and top coat. I turn off tv/music and do it in silence, it's therapy PS best thing about the robot was how good that red polish looked on you, even if it was a poor paint job
There is a machine that does your nails in the Charlotte airport. It doesn't use a brush. It uses like a tip and I wonder if maybe that's what something they should fix in this one and that way it won't mess up the cuticles
The concept is really neat, and I think once the kinks get worked out, it could be pretty cool. More than anything, I love that you tried it because I'd never heard of it. I wonder if tips could be worn or if there's a limit on how long your nails have to be? Loved the video, Evie. 💜
What happened to the clockwork machine they were testing at certain Targets 1-2 yrs ago? A 10-minute manicure for $10. I think I saw a video from Walmart too. Seems like they are trying to re-invent the wheel when someone else already has a better execution, years ahead of them 🤷🏻♀️ I am surprised its not already common place. Bless you for being patient and willing to test it out for the rest of us 👏🏻
It looked like the lint was from you removing the other nails I saw it when you zoomed in you had some on the the thumb before it had ever been painted
The lint is from your polish remover pads! It was stuck to your fingers in some of the shots before you'd put them in the machine. The application still sucked lol but at least the lint wasnt their fault.
I think the idea is really cool and honestly if you think about it a normal manicure with regular paint usually takes around that long at a salon. Since you have to paint a layer and wait then paint another layer.
I'm very lucky having naturally long, beautiful nails that most have to pay for, but I really do loathe having to maintain them. However, I do thank you for sharing this, as this has proven to me that my quest for beauty continues, as my own to conquer! Thanks, Girl! ❤️
55 mins? Thanks for doing this, Evie. Definitely not impressed with that AI machine. I like the concept, tho. Nails looked like when I started doing my own nails 🤣
It they could get this right, i think a clewr window on the side would be pretty cool so you could see it happen, or a micro camera that could then show whwrs happening in the app.
I'm elated when you drop content! I like that you can try nail industry products for us to see, cause chile, this is just too busy for me with the results it gave. Thanks though Evie! 💯🎯‼️♥️
I really didn’t expect to laugh as much as I did on this video. 😂 I truly feel like you said everything I would have as well as all of the facial expressions etc. This was definitely an experience!! 😅
Neat idea, buuuut. Oh wow. Those are TERRIBLE, lolol. That FB group has probably become a support group to mourn the money spent on the machine. I’ll stick to doing my own nails for free, lol. Love your new setup, though! Really transformed the space.
@@fritach3y right and look at all the work goes into setting it up. People don't have the Patience for that. So yes I don't see every woman buying this. Oh yes she just started that people that have brought this machine does not like it.
@@commenlife757 yea and if it’s spilling on the side like how I do mine then nah, I think this could be for those who are kinda unable to leave the house but still wanna do their nails, or maybe have arthritis and don’t have much time or opportunity to go to a nail salon
Does anyone else find this..... creepy? Like it has your fingerprints and DNA? Not to mention the info on your phone. I'm sorry but the way the world is going, by God's grace I wouldn't willingly put my hand in something that comes with a box of polish saying "get your spirit fingers ready" 🤔
They provided a product. That's not what a scam means. They overpromised on what they thought their product could do, but that's false advertising, not a scam. Scam would be they took her money and she got nothing in return.
First, Thank you for inspiring me to be brave enough to express my art. You are awesome! I was hoping you could recommend a brand/style of full cover tips, for very narrow &flat small nail beds.
I would recommend the Kiara Sky gelly tips! I have small nail beds that are pretty flat and they fit great! Only filing I have to do is shaping the cuticle:)
I have this machine. I was one of the first wave group. It’s definitely gotten better since upgraded but isn’t the 10 min mani they promised during their kickstarter. It doesn’t get any better after the practice. 🤷🏽♀️
That is an awesome step stool for the bathroom for a toddler to step up to be tall and wash their hands. You were so sweet and funny during the demo. There was so much lint or hair in the polish I started wondering, where you stick the food? I'm worried about the poor, stressed-out imp trapped inside the machine named AI that has been losing their fur trying to get 3 coats of polish on nails in 55 minutes. AI must have the shakes for the finish to look so messy. Save the imps!
Lol I saw SimplyNailogical (Cristine from Holo Taco) bought into the crowd funding! I was wondering if they got you too lol the video was chaos, but so good. Hope yall are doing well. Need another video on the Evie and Marcus channel with this outfit in the haul lbvs! Love yall great video as usual!
Making you wait 3 years for a product then only giving you 30 days to return it is diabolical

As someone who is NOT good at painting their nails - how did this machine do a worse job that I would?? 😭

That would be super dangerous because you don’t want uncured gel on your skin nor do you want it curing onto your skin.

The concept is really neat, and I think once the kinks get worked out, it could be pretty cool. More than anything, I love that you tried it because I'd never heard of it. I wonder if tips could be worn or if there's a limit on how long your nails have to be? Loved the video, Evie. 💜
Evie you and Lisette be here ! Y’all uploaded at the same time again ❤🎁💕🎊🌹😍 0:53
I think I’ll stick with my quick &’easy nail wraps lol.
The lint is from your polish remover pads! It was stuck to your fingers in some of the shots before you'd put them in the machine. The application still sucked lol but at least the lint wasnt their fault.
Just found your channel and I have never watched anything like this but you have Wonderful energy and your personality is delightful ❤
"This is my show now!" I'd 100% watch him doing YOUR nails.
You made me smile and laugh on a day I REALLY needed it! Thank you for that! ❤
Baby at least your kickstarter was real! The one I did for some luggage was definitely a scam and kickstarter did nothing!
Can you get your money back? That happened to my friend and Visa pulled the funds back.
@@joanna0988 no, they kept pushing the date back so by the time we realized it was a scam it was too late to do anything.
@@OutOfFocus777 Ugh ! Annoying 😞
I started watching for the nail machine, I stayed till the end because you and your husband are too cute together. I enjoyed your video.
20:29 LOL i wouldnt let the robot hair you say that
I think the idea is really cool and honestly if you think about it a normal manicure with regular paint usually takes around that long at a salon. Since you have to paint a layer and wait then paint another layer.
😂😂😂. I’m loving the chaotic energy in this video!
Side point but I really love the change in scenery and background lol 😅 your living room is gorgeous!
That machine is a waste of money. Thank you for showing us.❤
I rather do it myself what a piece of
Junk 😂
Bonus points to you for your patience! I could never!❤
That background is amazing
Loving the new setup!
OKAY BACKGROUND! 🤩 the production of this vid is ✨exquisite✨
I'm very lucky having naturally long, beautiful nails that most have to pay for, but I really do loathe having to maintain them. However, I do thank you for sharing this, as this has proven to me that my quest for beauty continues, as my own to conquer!
Thanks, Girl! ❤️
Whos idea of perfect is it? A kindergarteners??? Was a great video Evie. Sorry you didnt get the quality that you paid for.
I love how supportive you’re husband is
Bro what's the point? I could do all this on both hands perfectly on my own within 10 minutes
Wait?! They made you wait 3 years to get that?!!! I’d return it on day 29.
😂😂😂
This is an answer to a problem no one had
I'm elated when you drop content! I like that you can try nail industry products for us to see, cause chile, this is just too busy for me with the results it gave. Thanks though Evie! 💯🎯‼️♥️
That machine is horrible 😂 I still enjoyed the video though ❤
You both have such a great attitude and Patience! I don't think AI will be taking over any time soon! ❤❤❤
Omg your husband is adorable!!! “It’s my show now”
I really didn’t expect to laugh as much as I did on this video.
We gonna lose our jobs 😢 robots are taking over
Exactly and who is going to have any money without a job? AI will wreck our economy even further!
Tbh no, most of us are not buying that
@@fritach3y right and look at all the work goes into setting it up.
Omg that lint was driving me crazy!!
That man does indeed need his own show! We could just watch him and listen to him talk...❤
Yeah, this thing is a scam. i'm not impressed. 😒😒😒
They provided a product. That's not what a scam means. They overpromised on what they thought their product could do, but that's false advertising, not a scam. Scam would be they took her money and she got nothing in return.
@@AlexaFaie Bruh. it literally does not work.
Thanks for sharing this new invention. Its a cool item to have.
They def. scammed you
I think 😆 great review you’re the true star for going through the 3 year wait to give us this video !! Thank you girly 🤗
Loving this new vibe Evie and Marcus!
Your office looks great!
This is a throw you in a corner for 5 years and set a reminder on my phone 5 years later to come back to and see what updates they have made.
Beautiful couple .. blessings to both
