I’m just reading David’s book ‘I Choose This’, great chapter on how this was made in one take just using a borrowed camcorder. It’s a fabulous read for the Ford fan.
No, he's right. This guy probably isn't a concert pianist and a classical guitar virtuouso and a saxophone genius. He is a jack of all trades, but he's pretty damn good at all of them, and he mixes them well, which is a skill unto itself.
I honestly can't see why people don't believe this is all one take or him doing everything. I saw him play live in Atlantic City about three or four years ago. It was simply amazing. Its not some trick.. he's actually playing everything in this song by himself and its simply the most amazing thing I've ever seen live. He's my number one live performer. This is also my favorite Ford song besides the Bitter Xmas one and Katie
I was very fortunate to see David perform this live last weekend. He opened for Aimee Mann and really stole the show. The crowd gave him a big ovation at the end of his set. I really hope he comes back to the NYC area again soon.
Thought it was pretty cool to see him make this video. I don't know if this is the one that got him discovered, but I heard there was a video he did himself that got a lot of attentions a few years ago and if it ws this I can see why. I think he is a very talented artist and wish he would play more in the states
Fucking awesome live... I saw him with KT Tunstall. Through the whole show we were 4 ft in front of him in a club that holds no more than 250 at max. Awesome set... Very intimate setting.. one of the best sows I had ever seen.
I have now uploaded a video of David performing State of the Union live from the Union Chapel Gig (26.09.08) - I beleave this is the first time that State of the Union has been performed live with a full band/ with no looping.
What makes him different is really his writing. I have to agree with you about the instruments (even though I don't want to cause I'm a huge fan)...but you gotta appreciate the lyrics
most looping machines now are pedals, since they're used for live situations. It's assumed that the hands are busy. If not that, someone else may have been pushing it.
Not as good as Go To Hell - but I'm still really impressed with his work. 'taint many people out there that could pull this sort of thing off well. Well Done
remember seeing him live 3-4 years ago, i liked him, new he would make it, but his songs soon get boring, theres nothing keeping you entertained, thers only so far 1 man can take sampling. his new Go To Hell is a good example of that. his older songs were much better. seeing him live in a room of 50 people was a much better experience
was recommended this video by a friend. i'm sorry, but i can't say i like david ford from watching this and "go to hell". i've seen people loop instruments live before, so i don't see anything novel about it. he doesn't seem to showcase any virtuosity on any particular instrument. maybe because it's because i'm a drummer and i cringed when i watched him play the drums...from looking at other people's comments though, perhaps i just need to seem play live. sorry to his fans. just my small opinion
I have watched this so many times, this is the best version in my opinion genius really
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Pastor Murray is an Anointed Servant of GOD who teaches the Word of GOD with Authority!!!!!!!
Still brilliant today, seen him live years back. Hope he s doing great today.thanks David ❤

Still relevant and still powerful. Thank you David Ford!
🤙💫❣️
Holy crap if there wasn't a video to go with this, I would have never known this was all one guy - LIVE AT THE SAME TIME. Utterly amazing.
After viewing 80 comments I’m feeling this in 2021, august. Who is with me

I forgot how much I loved this.
I couldn't agree more :) bring on the David Ford Channel! 24hr Fordness!
David Ford speaks to me when I'm feeling out of it. He talks about the kind of things that make you wanna have hope, you know?
A shake of a hand, A smile to a smile... This is AMAZING, down right up most top notch a... miracle.
It’s truly a shame he’s not more popular. Amazing artist. His music gives me goose bumps. All the feels on this one.

14 years old and as meaningful as ever
Superb songwriting, incredible vocals, and all round innovative talent .
In admiration David, and glad to have met you.

I'm a huge fan. Great concept. Visually interesting as well as musically captivating.
David. We just love you.

amazing. And all in one shot. This is my favorite song
I wish I could subscribe to a channel with just this guy's music
wow , look at all those old comments, I didn't know this song came out 8 years ago. Got recommended from a friend, said to be his favorite.
He is amazingly talented, Im really impressed!
Great video!
I like the piano clusters at the end (last thing added to the loop stack). Subtle, tasteful touch.
That was an amazing gig, thanks for uploading.
great songs,to the point, wish i knew of him when he was touring the states.
There is a place where death is a stranger and love alone shines

God damn this song is the truth!
I love how this song just snowballs into an impassioned crescendo.

An Amazing Talent, I saw him at a duke special gig in Ireland.
So relevant still today
your amazin man.....truly talented=)
I just did a deep dive to find this!!!
No problem, I have a few more online from that night. Wish I could have taken some more though. Really was a great night.
very nice , very nice... great technique
i love david ford!
Badass jam!!!

Gig yesterday with him was epic.
OMG I LOVE THIS SONG!!! =]]]
no one can disagree we are all lost...
no love can worth getting fired for
no one else is pushing the buttons...he does this live, all by himself...check the videos...
Flawless.
Awesome, awesome stuff!!!
Do your neighbors hate you?
sorry for being ignorant, but he's recording each bit on a loop, and then repeating it over and over to make the whole song? wow...
great song and true

I think the Hidden frame is probably to change the display picture
That was pretty cool. What was the recording device?
I saw this show also, after David Ford and Newton Faulkner, who was awesome, I left, she did not stand a chance...
This guy knows how to make use of the Boomerang for sure.
I wonder what the missing frame at 4:51 is all about.
talented young kid
isn't this video filmed in one take?
WOW

Kinda reminds me of Bob Dylan. Awesome job man.
A true artist without melodys from a computer thats made in 5 min..(Yes im talking about many
rap artists)
"Go Fuck Thy Neighbor"
Brilliant.
he isn't actually keeping track of it all in his head... that's what his earpiece is for
to say the least
And yet Ed fucking Sheeran gets all the glory?!
i don't believe in god. but this man is mine !
Everyone's a critic on youtube
The last two minutes were really alot better IMO, good job though.
pretty good not as good as go to hell though it is excellent
yea it may be on the side of a cliff? who knows.
so true yet so disappointing..
it's a shame its a shame its a shame.
and you can do better???
its not bad, but nothin to special either, nice lyrics though.
Never been a more poignant way to portray the madness in the uk right now / what a model of Christian behaviour -
