This story is so motivating. I’m the same height, 5’3, and want to become an international signed model. Ive been turned down so many times due to this, but I won’t give up. This was exactly what I needed to hear 🙌🏼
lol or maybe he doesn't spend hours in his cellar with the old vhs tape going through old records of the nba watching every game to finally find mugsy bogues and look up his "real" name because he thinks his is fake
Thanks Swishout you motivated me! I'm the shortest in my school but best at basketball and when I'm in the Nba, I'll thank you for motivating me even though I'm short
The thing is u are soft as fuck.. U know that in 90s, trashtalk was part of the game and mj was one of the best at it sooooo im sorry if ur feelings hurt u are soft as howard can be lol..
LiquidEctasy yea i guess u are soft enough to cry in the past players who trashtalk a lot like mj lol.. Soo if u saif that it will be more competent and better when thrashtalking someone, then why mugsy fell off his average in all department after that tt? lol... and btw MJ has his donations in 9 11 when he was in wizards, all of his paycheck were went to the vixtims of 9 11 attacks... so hes an asshole i see lol.. Fuckinsoftass u all here lol
His reflexes and speed were almost inhuman. I guess when it comes to size, Tyrone Mugsy Bogues proved the only thing that should be measured is the size of a persons heart. Thank for posting this, he always inspired me.
Muggsy is one inch shorter than Kevin Hart. I remember watching him play when I was a kid through to my teen years. He was so fast, and was decent shooter too. He was even able hit 3-point shots.
Muggy Bogues is my favorite player ever. He played for my Charlotte Hornets and he was an assist wachine. And to people that said he can't shoot. YES HE CAN. It's hard for him to shoot with these tall guys. He isn't a hall of famer but he had a great career.
I'm not a basketball fan AT ALL because I'm from the UK but I found out about this guy and looked him up. Your video is really well made and narrated. Kudos to you.
Muggsy Bogues is a legend. He's just 5 ft 3 which is six inches shorter than the Average American. And he's not only playing in a league full of giants, but he's actually starting and contributing.
Muggsy was only drafted by the Bullets as a PR stunt because of Manute Bol. Im glad he was drafted, but better than that.. he was able to show the league he wasnt just a side show, but he BELONGED there.
Houston screwed themselves. By giving up so much for Chris Paul, they don't have the assets to get another star like Paul George or Blake Griffin. Their assets seem minuscule compared to Boston, Los Angeles, or even Cleveland.
I'm 13, almost 14 and I am a 5.2 point guard. I know some people will say: "that's not that short" and it isn't. But on my AAU team basically everyone is taller than me
I was 4'10" when I was your age, and never grew more than an extra 4" ... If you stop growing at 5'2"/3" ... own your height ... borrow his work ethic, and his grind; you'll get there like he did. There are plenty of great men out there shorter than 5'4" ... so don't let your height get in your way. Wear it like armour, and that way, no-one can hurt you with it. Good luck, and I sincerely wish you the best.
Im 5'5 and 14 and I used to hoop amazing but I had more knee injuries then. Derick rose I tore every ligamentent and ruptured both Achilles and more. My goal is to recover and make a comeback in basketball
ComeUp BarelySane Good luck ... I really hope you do. As you know, there are plenty of exercises you can do to strengthen your tendons and muscle strength after an injury like that. Just start off taking it easy, and work your way up as you get stronger and fitter. Hopefully you will be back shooting hoops again in no time.
I wish other youtuber would've heard me and made this video bc I requested it to every youtuber but no one listen to me but finnaly you made the video that I wanted to see
Yo I just found your channel and I was surprised at how you only had 53k for quality content. I hope you continue this and hopefully be successful one day!
im a 5 3 8th grader playing pg trying to get ready for JV basketball next year this helped me because im short I hope ill do good but the way my AAU stats are I think ill do good
If you saw Bogues play live in college, he was as intimidating as a shot blocker like Patrick Ewing: all 5 of Virginia's players were afraid to get the ball with Bogues guarding them. LOL. There were Wake Forest games when all the other team could think about was that he could steal it from anyone. He was also, after Magic Johnson, the best college player I've ever seen at breaking a full court press, or in penetrating to the basket, drawing the defense toward him, and then passing through the arms of the defense to an open teammate for a layup.
I use to go to the Hornets game a lot back then. Loved watching Bogues play, he was such a pest, I knew every player that dribbled his direction was thinking "oh shit, don't let him steal, don't let him steal it". He made all of the other players look slow all the time, he didn't have a low gear, never slowed down. You forgot Dell Curry was on that team too, and Kendall Gill. Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning entered the league in the same draft, #1 & #2 picks. Still have their fleer rookie cards and draft cards in my collection.
I'm just like Mugsy Bouges I'm short and always played basketball in a height disadvantage and now that I heard Mugsy's story I'm more motivated and I'm 10 years old and I've been playing basketball since I was 6 years old and I can steal the ball really good from my 14 year old brother who is on his high school varsity team and my brother has dribbles so I'm just like Mugsy a good defender #ballislife
Silent Plays Good for you, straight up. If you want to get serious, keep at it, keep up the grind, practice the fundamentals, and team work. No matter what size you max out at, never let your height dictate what you can, or can't, do. Be like Muggsy; fast as cat, heart of a lion, and a great team player. You keep that up, and who knows where you might end up. Best of wishes.
I'm short like 5'6 I went to pluck Tim Hardaway like that in 92 and he dribbled over my head and hit a knuckeball three-pointer When your'e short you can time your steal by hearing the ball bounce, once it hits the floor, you swipe Not sure if i recall Mugsy dunk the ball at a wake game in like 87 Johnson and Mourning are a force on NBA jams
Brings back good nba memories! Still one of my favorite players... always on the grind! Thx for the video! Btw what is the name of the track at the end of the video! Thx!
I'm 4 foot 5 I'm in 6th grade so im short I want to be in the NBA I'm good rn just for trouble going against people that are a lot taller then but swishout your my fav youtuber
You probably haven't gotten your growth spurt. Just eat right and give your body the nutrients it needs. Do a lot of stretching and play ball whenever you can to loosen up and grow taller.
I wish I knew about him way back in '88-'90 ... I was in Comprehensive/ High School then; as since PE was compulsory, sometimes our teacher made us play basketball ... But here is the thing ... at 14, I was only 4'10" ... I am 43, going on 44, and have maxed out at 5'2", and about 120-125lbs ... Anywho, playing basketball was tough, especially when the other guys were upto a good foot taller than me, and way heavier than my, at a guess, ~100lbs, or so. But nevertheless, I tried to get into the mix, mostly trying to block people, and other defensive type stuff, although I possibly was more of a hinderance and a nuisance than anything else ... but I did try ... My favourite memories of that time included during this one basketball lession, when literally everyone else was crowded aroud the hoop at one end; I was a few feet away from the melee, when the ball flew out at me ... and bare in mind there was at least 12 players per side ... Somehow I managed to pick it up, and drive down the remaining 3/4ths of the court like the Devil himself was at my heels. The basket was wide open, and I could of taken the shot, but the closer I got, with everyone else charging at me, I knew it would be too risky to take it. But at that moment, I saw a teammate (who was, ironically, equally a pretty bad bully towards me ... ) almost parallel to me in my peripheral vision; so, after we both got close enough, I shot him double-handed pass, as hard and fast as I could; he got that cannonball, and went on the plant it in ... So, yes, I did suck at basketball overall ... but perhaps if our school had coaches, then just simply teachers, and someone that was willing to set me aside, and helped me learn the fundamentals, of the sports that I had improbable skill in, who knows ... but being in a British High School/Comprehensive, sports/PE was treated differently, unless they actually pick you for a specific team, especially the rugby team, who normally went on a European trip/series once a year ... I never knew how being picked happened, as either of my PE teachers were too busy to actually help me, and a few others like me, learn how to play properly. Despite, there were also other good moments, like when playing indoor football/soccer; if a opposition player had the ball near the sidelines, I would be all over him like a rash, boxing him in, no matter how he twisted and turned, until he was forced to take a wild shot ... often it worked, as my team would intercept the ball, then shoot for a goal ... Them there was this one time, we were playing badminton; I got paired up with this very strong player, and I am convinced he was carrying me ... nevertheless, somehow we managed to beat all the other teams, including one of the teacher with a classmate ... how the hell we did that, I haven't clue ... still clueless as to how well I did ... But anyways, those were the best moments of PE in High School / Comprehensive School of my life ... Now that I am alot older, it really helps to think that size truly doesn't have to matter ... Of course, there is no chance I will be anything like him, but he does give me hope, being this short, in a tall world ...
I first saw him at the McDonalds high school game and I don't remember his name who was suppose to be the best guard in the country and Bogues ate his lunch, he was making passes and steals like crazy, so I followed him to Wake Forest then the NBA. He was so good and could score when he wanted too. But he wanted to make the assist. His knees failed him after a thirteen year career
I play basketball quite often and I'm usually the shortest person on the court. I'm 5'8 by the way. It's crazy because I don't find myself to be that short.... until I find myself on the court.....
As a 5'7 Guard playing in Portugal U18 I feel short, and here Guards average at about 5'10, Wings are like 6'1 and Bigs average at like 6'3, rarely taller than 6'5, at the most not even a foot of difference between me and the tallest Centers, I can't imagine what it would be like guarding a guy that's a foot taller than you, and driving against guys nearly 2 feet taller, nothing but respect for him...
Imagine you are this guy at the age of 15 with the ambition to join the NBA. Would anyone acknowledge your dream? This guy had to battle a lot of naysayers with persistence. Work 3 times harder, and sprint like a hare. He is my inspiration that it can be done, dont look for excuses.
this story is definitely one of the most inspiring ever
AndreiCarmona Carmona look at kawhi's about why he's so quiet
Every time I look at muggsy I feel like anything is possible
Its crazy he's the same height i am right now and i'm 13. What a legend
Jsfolife 24 same
Jsfolife 24 you're still kinda short for your age lmao
Lavar Ball that's tall for 7 grade
Young Rich Alex no it's really not
Im 1-2 inches taller then him
"If you played basketball against a shorter guy..." I wouldn't know, I was always the shorter guy (5'6")
jaylock9twenty5 same I'm 5'5
jaylock9twenty5 I'm 5'6 as well. The only time I played people smaller than me were younger but usually younger people are still taller than me.
Damn, people here treats me like a giant at 5'8". They didn't know how hard it is for me to play with guys around 6' loool
川田太郎 you only 2 inches taller than me. Lol you not a giant.
Fucking manlet
This story is so motivating. I’m the same height, 5’3, and want to become an international signed model. Ive been turned down so many times due to this, but I won’t give up.

Thanks Swishout you motivated me! I'm the shortest in my school but best at basketball and when I'm in the Nba, I'll thank you for motivating me even though I'm short
The thing is Michael Jordan wasn't really a good person
organicpeople proved that being a good person gets you nowhere. (:
organicpeople Jordan had a personalty of were he thought no one could pass him look how close LeBron is now
The thing is u are soft as fuck.. U know that in 90s, trashtalk was part of the game and mj was one of the best at it sooooo im sorry if ur feelings hurt u are soft as howard can be lol..
Ran Holic so is punching your teammate trash talking now?

KTO lets both get that bro !
Muggy Bogues is my favorite player ever. He played for my Charlotte Hornets and he was an assist wachine. And to people that said he can't shoot. YES HE CAN. It's hard for him to shoot with these tall guys. He isn't a hall of famer but he had a great career.
TheRealMVP wachine LOL
Leo_Cerberus What is so funny?
Machine.
TheRealMVP your favorite player but u can't spell his name
chris chung It's auto correct. I put Muggsy and it put Muggy.
I'm not a basketball fan AT ALL because I'm from the UK but I found out about this guy and looked him up. Your video is really well made and narrated. Kudos to you.
QuixoticQuaver just because you’re in the UK doesn’t mean you aren’t a basketball fan. I am.
You're never too short to do something too BIG! Awesome video. Thank you.
Muggsy Bogues is a legend. He's just 5 ft 3 which is six inches shorter than the Average American. And he's not only playing in a league full of giants, but he's actually starting and contributing.
Had a chance to meet him at my school very inspirational speaker.
44 inch vertical? Dude was still physically gifted lol

mugsy is a supreme athlete. he has muscle mass is quick low and maneuverable. also smart. great player.
Keep em comin' Myles
Really liking that "Ether" is playing in the background, in some way it actually fits the video!
I thought Jordan and muggsy was cool since he was in space jam and all that
And they say little people don't have heart.
In the first clip, he fricking touched the backboard with his hand!!
Sorry I'm late to the video, just got home but just watched and it was great. Thanks for the awesome vid!
"shorter than your average refrigerator" thanks man that was definitely a necessary fact I needed to know😂😂😂
"he's shorter than your average rapper which would be 5'6"
Damn Muggsy be speed boosting
At 5'3, Muggsy played better defense than Harden could ever play.
crewcutter2030 I think harden heard you he just played great defense in their series against gsw.
I can relate to muggsy bogues, I'm 5'3 and play just like him
thanks bro i pretty short and i play basketball . that video made me what to be short so thanks
Just shows that if you're 5'3" and you're black and are unnaturally quick and have a 44" vertical you can make the NBA ;_;
great video bro!!!
Dope motivation. S/o to Earl Boykins, he was a 5'3 player that got in the NBA too
"Stay toned Jay." Da hell????!!!!!
MINIMaxBOXING "Stay tuned, G!"
15/10 at Wake! That is solid!! Did not guess he could have gone 12th overall, that is great!
Muggsy was only drafted by the Bullets as a PR stunt because of Manute Bol. Im glad he was drafted, but better than that.. he was able to show the league he wasnt just a side show, but he BELONGED there.
Thanks for the great vid
Love this video thank u for this video

Very inspiring video. Thats a tough dude ryt ther
Thanks for the motivation
I'm 13, almost 14 and I am a 5.2 point guard. I know some people will say: "that's not that short" and it isn't. But on my AAU team basically everyone is taller than me
Everyone has their growth spurts at different times.

Im 5'5 and 14 and I used to hoop amazing but I had more knee injuries then. Derick rose I tore every ligamentent and ruptured both Achilles and more. My goal is to recover and make a comeback in basketball
ComeUp BarelySane
Good luck ... I really hope you do.
As you know, there are plenty of exercises you can do to strengthen your tendons and muscle strength after an injury like that. Just start off taking it easy, and work your way up as you get stronger and fitter. Hopefully you will be back shooting hoops again in no time.
I knew of muggsy but still thought I was too short to play NBA. This will help some...
I wish other youtuber would've heard me and made this video bc I requested it to every youtuber but no one listen to me but finnaly you made the video that I wanted to see
Inspiring. (BTW. I'm 5'2". 60 years old. Played sports all my life.)
Good video bro
Yo I just found your channel and I was surprised at how you only had 53k for quality content. I hope you continue this and hopefully be successful one day!

Hey, Dan Issel said that there will be another Michael Jordan before there will be another Tyrone Bogues!
Idk why but I laughed hard as shit when he said he was shorter than the avg refrigerator
most inspiring video ever made keep up the good work PS I want to be in the NBA
Anyone remember Pistol Pete the basketball player? He was one of the best players in NBA histor (too me)
I don't know anything about basketball, however I think this guy should be at hall of fame . This guy basically is unique.
He's a beast though! Oh yeah, I had to go into landscape mode to see him. Oh there he is!
Nice vid Swishout

You keep that up, and who knows where you might end up. Best of wishes.
If this isn't motivating, I don't know what will.

When I started playing basketball I was 4,11 and he inspired me to just keep playing I'm now 5,7 and I'm still playing hard
Thanks man!
I like your voice so I subscribed
I'm short like 5'6
I went to pluck Tim Hardaway like that in 92 and he dribbled over my head
and hit a knuckeball three-pointer
When your'e short you can time your steal by hearing the ball bounce,
once it hits the floor, you swipe
Not sure if i recall Mugsy dunk the ball at a wake game in like 87
Johnson and Mourning are a force on NBA jams
He makes Spud Webb look tall 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂
Brings back good nba memories! Still one of my favorite players... always on the grind! Thx for the video! Btw what is the name of the track at the end of the video! Thx!
That block to Ewing tho
what's crazy is spud Webb could dunk muggsy could touch rim I can only touch under neath the rim and I'm 5'8
I've already know this story but I still find it amazing that he is 5 inches shorter than I am at 12
I'm 4 foot 5 I'm in 6th grade so im short I want to be in the NBA I'm good rn just for trouble going against people that are a lot taller then but swishout your my fav youtuber
HaZe Reaper keep grinding brother
HaZe Reaper me too I'm 4'10 and in 8th grade I want to be in the nba I'm good too bro keep going you can do it
You probably haven't gotten your growth spurt. Just eat right and give your body the nutrients it needs. Do a lot of stretching and play ball whenever you can to loosen up and grow taller.
HaZe Reaper the nets thing about being short is just getting steals for days. And that occasional block where everyone goes nuts lol
HaZe Reaper I am in 6th as well and am 5 foot 3 rn
I didn't know his name until today
my inspiration
I'm 6'2 140 13 and plan on being a lottery pick. #GrindDontSTOP

Me being the taller guy most of the time (5’10) and playing against some of those shorter kids. I just can’t dribble 🤦♂️

Height doesn’t matter Ball is life💯
I'm 4'5 and I'm in middle School
