that’s his mum and Nana in the audience 😅
Say if you had a $20 bill and the cashier said thats $3.42c. The reason the customer would ask if the cashier wanted the 42c was so the cashier wouldn't have to give all their change away. So you would give the $20 bill PLUS 42c in change and the cashier would give you a straight $17. The customer wouldn't be trying to get out of paying the 42c. It was to help the cashier.
Kevin bridges SLEEPOVER FROM HELL is hilarious
This is your best reaction yet. Fantastic. I would love to see you react to 'The Two Ronnies - Aldershot Brass Ensemble' or Morecambe and Wise in their Mastermind sketch. Your reactions are infectious. Keep them up.
In case you dont know, the lovely lady in the audience is his Mother. She laughs so much because she knows what he is refferring to❤😂
"Do you want the 42?"... I guess it must be a local thing but it was so common "back in the day". Imagine something costs £5.10 and I pay for it with a £10 note, if I had the 10p coin I would ask, "Do you want the 10?"... I am basically offering to the shop keeper, that they can give me a £5 note as change, or they can give me £4.90 worth of coins. It's an offer of convenience for them. (Of course he's making a joke on the literal words etc, etc) but it always amazes me how many reactors aren't familiar with it and I wonder just how "local" it was (I grew up in his hometown).
It's a British thing in general, do you want the.....
Born and raised in Manchester, lived in Buckinghamshire, now live in Cornwall. People do it more commonly in the South but it happens everywhere in England.
I'm from the south and we do it as well, otherwise you have to walk around with a pocket full of change.
Definitely a thing from over here, I’m in Wales and we say it.
definitely was a thing for me as a kid in Leeds too. maybe its just an English thing?
Probably the best observational comedian in the UK.
5:25 Peter Kay's Mum and Nan
8:59 She relates cos she is who he is talking about :)
I'm laughing with tears in my eyes at Jess laughing at Peter. He is a comedy genius. Simply superb.
Just want to say thank you. This is not a good time of year for me. Depression can hit hard. Watching your reactions make me smile. I’ve seen all the Peter Kay shows ( at the time he made them!!) but watching you two react to them is a breath of fresh air. Thank you
Last night jess n nick we went to see comedy genius peter kay in Manchester, n he blew us all away, he was beyond amazing it was brilliant, n you found out why he stopped ages, n also hes even better than u think. N they moved us nearer the stage, n there were two big surprises at the end, we came out jess totally stunned n ur mouth hurt we rolled about all night. Bless him he was phenomenal. If u can get to go see him.GO. il never ever forget this ever, wow not even close. 😂😂😂😂 best night EVER. Xx
Have you got something against the word AND?
The grey haired lady in the crowd that the camera kept going to and the dark haired lady next to her is Peter's grandma and mum, love your channel ❤ more Peter please ❤❤
And the younger lady further along the same row is Peter's wife if I'm not mistaken? In fact, as it was filmed in his home town Bolton, a lot of his relatives and friends were in the audience.
Saw Peter in Manchester on Saturday. Brilliant show and he did a wonderful tribute to has Grandma who dies two years ago. I think he said she was 96.
I thought so as the dark haired lady looks just like him.
He is so funny live, saw him just before Christmas. Your rib cage and face ache from all the laughing.😂😂
Peter Kay is a legend back here in Manchester UK, he's done so many successful TV programmes. When interviewed or ask about his material on stage Peter always categorically states that he draws it all from every day people and life and the stupid things they say and do. Carrying the Christmas chairs over the road is gold too. Keep up the good work on Kay. Stay safe from Manchester UK
A genuine comic 💪
Crossing the road with them emurguncy churs!
Hi, Peter Kay fires so many quick jokes and has you laughing so much, that you can re-watch again & again and still laugh so much at the bits that you missed the times before 😂🤣
on behalf of all brits, Jess you are one of us. you get the humour better than every American I have watched. you are welcome here any time. I suppose your fella can come as well, if he has too! lol
Watch frankenstein's lab
Yes, I was surprised how much of the humour you understood immediately, because it is very much what we Brits think is likely to be “local”.
Omg, I've not laughed that loud watching this than with you. I've seen it about 20 times, but I wish I was in your presence watching this one. Jess, you had me in tears, your laugh is soooooo contagious that I cry. Love y'all ❤️
My wife’s family are from Bolton (I’m a softy southerner) and when two or more of them get together it’s something to behold. They just start reeling off lists of people and their relatives and their jobs and their ailments just so they can tell you that someone got caught shop lifting. It can go on for hours, meanwhile I sit there enjoying some internal peace having figured out who they’re talking about after 30 seconds despite not even knowing them. It’s impressive to watch in a funny way.
Many thanks to Jess for her reaction, brightens my evening.
You can’t beat good old British humour
One little gag that slips by is when he's pretending to be the customs officer blinded by the sun in the suitcase. He mentions Crowded House who had a hit with "Weather With You" ("Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you.")
Yup, he does that kind of thing alot.
We have a similar saying in the U.K. to you about your cardinal. We have beautiful little robins ( different to American robins) with very red breasts and we believe when robins are near then so too your loved ones are close.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!.......Sweet Child O' Mine!" 😁 Love all of the music references throughout his material. 👍😊
I don’t even need the video, I just laugh my head off when Jess is laughing
Peter Kay has to be one of the best observational comic of all time.
Also one of the best character actor comics of all time the way he can embody a personna , reminds me of Ronnie Barker in this regard.
At the funeral of a deceased carpenter relative - who was on display in a coffin: my aunt said to the priest: “He spent most of his life in wood you know”. True story.
I went to this show when he didn't tour in London and our jaws ached!
😂😂
Every time you walk past a neighbour cutting the grass your suppose to say "Do you want to do mine next" 😀
the correct reply is "it'll rain if i do"
My mom does the same thing, but for robins (the red chested bird). When my nan (her mom) and my dad passed, a robin visited the garden the next morning and she always says it's them visiting to see how we're doing after they passed.
You guys really get British humour. You need to look at the Peter Kay adverts for John Smiths beer. 😂😂
Peter Kay is a legit genius. One of the greatest stand-up comedians of all time.
11:05 jess has laughed so much her face hurts 😂😂❤
don`t think i`ve ever seen you laugh as much 😂
The £3.42 bit is the customer saying "doing you want the 42p" indicating they were going to pay with either a £5 or £10 note, and giving the 42p would make the 'change' easier. 😂
I used to work in Maccies (while doing a Maths Degree.) You would get customers 'do you want the odds'. Made it easier for us cashing up and we could serve more cars.
Then you would the odd one. "£3.42 please". "I'll give you £21.70 if that helps". My Maths brain can count in a hurry but you don't want to think about the highest denomination coins and notes when you have 16 seconds to take the next order and next payment.
@@BrianBell4073Yeah but you can put through £21.70 as cash tendered, the till would just calculate the change from that for you. Unless you’re talking about a time before the electronic POS.
I love the way Jess laughs so much, and it sets me off laughing even more. Now you have seen Peter Kay's funeral sketch, you must watch his take on weddings - it's hilarious.
The Bolton Albert Hall is hilarious all the way through🤣🇬🇧🍻
Watching Jess laugh was as good as Peter Kay
The 42p is a thing that brits do, instead of handing you a pound extra and taking all the change, they ask if you want the exact amount 😂
When he says guess who's dead when he goes to his nans house the camera pans to 2 women in the croud the lady on the left is Peter's mum & the lady with the white hair is his nan. Just for reference. Hello from the uk
In English it's crowd😉
When my dog,, the one in the picture was put to sleep,, we had a PK moment. The day after she died I opened the blinds of the window in the morning and the sunshine poured through the window , hitting a sculpture on the window ledge, causing a huge shadow of a whippet on our back wall. My wife and I stood in complete shock staring at the whippet shadow. Of course it was just a shadow but truthfully this had never happened before. The sun was shining on a clear day and hitting our window at just the right time when we opened the blinds. Later we laughed about it, refering exactly to the story of the Quaver chips !!
Hello Mike and Jess. I just adore the both of you and watching your reactions. Thank you for making me laugh and cheering up my days. I want to say now, I wish you both a very happy Christmas and a wonderful, peaceful and healthy new year.
Our best comedian ever. As an ex- Northerner, I know Bury, Bolton very well and you really need to appreciate the Northern sense of humour and how true to life Peter is 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
My nanna knows everything about everyone, yet has to go through every family name to get to mine 😂
And the pets past and present :)
Every nan does!
weddings has to be the next Peter Kay reaction
yes the perfect follow on I feel , giving you insight into his family and the comedy he pulls from them. Peter just knows how to make those everyday relatable things funny..... that's his genius , we can all relate.
What about Pheonix Nights? I'd love to see their reaction watching that.
How good is Peter Kay. I’m watching him live this weekend can’t wait 😊
He's brilliant but give you a heads up he's lost alot of weight so looks different but still funny has 😂
Wow, you two! Best team ever on TH-cam! Absolutely love you!
That's his nan that they kept showing when he said about "guess who's dead"
Went to see him at the O2 for his Mum Wants a Bungalow tour. We had to buy the dvd coz everyone was laughing so much we missed, didn't hear a lot of the show 😂😂😂
It's great to see you you guys getting, Peter Kay so much... "He loved Quavers!" Guy's a living legend...,👍
We are blessed in the UK to have.So many funny comedian.s. pleased you have found the.m and love your reactions,.
He is in car sharing, a tongue in cheek comedy, very funny worth watching 🙂🙂
Brilliant, especially Reece Sheersmith as the fishmonger!
I have only come to watch Jess laugh. A real stress breaker.
I agree. Jess’s laugh is infectious 😂
I'm loving your reactions 😂❤
It’s rare your still laughing at the last joke none stop, that’s Peter kaye x
You guys are brilliant you brighten my day, thanks 🙏
Wetting myself 😂 he should be a national treasure 😂 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Can't beat observational humour.
Hello Mike, Jess, I like it how you Americans enjoy all the British comedy shows & comedians like 2 Ronnie's Peter Kay Micky Flanagan Alan Murray etc, I would like to mention some more you will love watching & I know Jess will be in tears with some of them, Only Fools and horses, Faulty Towers, Dad's Army, George & Mildred, Morecambe and Wise, Love Thy Neighbour, Open All Hours, On the Buses, & Comedians Jasper Carrot Dave Allen, Kevin Bridges, I am sure you will have lots of fun watching These 😂😂👍🇬🇧🇺🇸
Only fools and horses, such a classic, one of the best.
As a brit, I love your channel. Not many Americans get the British sense of humour. Keep up the great commentary.
To funny, Peter kay is hilarious, as much as i was laughing at him, you both had me in stitches 😅
Great reaction again thanks, the people that were trapped at home were the lucky ones I had to continue working as a key worker, the people who stayed at home got 80% of there wages so the key workers worked all week for 20% more 😂😂😂
His bit on telephones is the best
"Well what you defrostin'?" 🤣🤣🤣
Now you need to 2atch him on weddings 😂😂😂😂
There seems to be a mass movement of Americans reacting to British stuff on TH-cam at the moment. But can I just say…you 2 are the best. Watching some great stuff and I love your Jess getting hilarious. Subscribed. 😆🖤🖤🤘🏻🇬🇧🇬🇧
Genius. I'm in tears every time
Working as a security guard for an indoor marketplace during covid, a lady came up to me and genuinely asked me: Excuse me love, am I going the wrong way? It took every ounce of professionalism I could muster not to burst out laughing at her question because it just reminded me of this lol. I politely said to the lady: Well in order to know that love, I need to know first where you are going and then I can tell you lol. I helped her out gave her directions and she was really gracious and grateful. XD
I just love your reactions and Peter Kay is so funny, and accurate in his observations of, in this piece, northerners. That's just how it is, and from your comments I guess that it's the same in the States. Cheers ! Sheffield South Yorkshire.
He is so good, love to see you two laughing at him too
This is the funniest video I've seen not just peter but her laugh
You had me at "either way it's Peter Kay"
Peter, Mickey, Sarah, and many more who can hold an audience on their own, just brilliant stand ups in the UK.
Jess your smile is infectious
Note to self.......don't be drinking a cup of tea when listening to this guy 😂
Love it guys! Peter kay is my favourite comedian. He's a British icon.
He's done a lot of tv series aswell which I would recommend, especially 'phoenix nights'
You have the best laugh, im in stitches on the settee, hes so funny
He’s brilliant. He bases a lot of his humour on his nan, who he adored and sadly passed away at 96.
Peter is a comedy legend.
I was there that night, this tour was called ‘my mum wants a bungalow’ tour, because he was buying his mum a house with the money he earns from it.
The old lady laughing in the video is his nan
He’s a national treasure!
Ps I watch a lot of Americans reacting to British videos and you’re the only ones who get our humour, great channel!
I come from the UK to Knoxville to see the Vils every year #govols
I swear that man grew up in my house. Must have. How else has he got my life so perfect?
Jess’s laugh is so infectious 😁
Peter was an absolute joy here! So relatable....😅🇺🇲💚🇬🇧✌️😜
you said she turned around so she relates. The elderly lady is his gran and the one the turned around is his mum. I have tickets to go see him next year. Can't wait. He's a bucket list performer for me
We, in the NW, are exactly what you see when PK is on! I’ve been to Bolton Albert Halls, to watch him, QE Hall in my home town of Oldham several times and his shows are always packed out! My fave is a show from Blackpool Tower, years ago where he introduced his invisible watch, drizzle and garlic bread and Spain was just over his left shoulder! Hilarious!
Peter's so good at repeating back to us things we say all the time. It's the realisation of this that makes it so funny
his compilation of heckle responses is great and worth you watching!
Phoenix Nights! Phoenix Phoenix Phoenix Nights!
This - to infinity!
I couldn’t stop laughing at Jess laughing 😂😂😂
She's a happy lady ! Pete is the best comedian ever!
A lot of middle aged to old people (where I am from) usually talk about their laundry, it starts of as small talk except it usually takes the entire conversation
A certified genius at work.
He is a local boy to me, just up't road in Bolton.
I'm so glad that his accent and local everyday stuff that happens here , I'm so glad that it and he translates for you guys..
Like bargain hunt, it's a crap TV antiques show that on bbc2 at like 11 am that only old folks see.
He just reflects everyday life and it's genius...
Love it..nice one folks.😂
So many of these jokes are so difficult to understand for people outside the UK. He’s hilarious xx
Kevin Bridges SLEEPOVER FROM HELL is hilarious
Love his Mum and late Nan in the audience.
Peter Kay is an observational comedian. This is why he jumps from one thing to the other as this is what happens in social situations with several people all talking about different things.
Peter's accent is thick in this one! Well impressed you understand him 😂
Thank you for the video you guys are brilliant, I hope you get to watch the weddings video from Peter
That’s his actual mum and grandma that it keeps cutting to in the audience when he’s talking about them🤣
"do you want the 42" I think comes when you give them a larger note, so they can give you an exact amount back (eg pounds only and no pence, or dollars only and no cents", plus the cashier is then getting more change in the till which is always good!
Exactly that - bugs me every time I see this routine. I suspect Peter didn't realise. It's courtesy - if the bill is £3.17 and you give them £5 and the 0.17 they just give you £2 back and everyone avoids lots of fiddly coins.
@finncullen Peter realises fine well, it's his comedic play on the literal wording taking place during that transaction.
It’s not Peter that doesn’t understand the concept lol
Went to watch him live early this year and he was as funny as ever . He’s lost a lot of weight now .have a watch of him scanning his audience with a camera bloody hilarious
His 'it's that fine rain' is really a thing in the north of England. Peters from Bolton, near Manchester, in the north, renowned for rain, but never really heavy rain. The saying here is 'if you can see the Pennines (mountains), it's going to rain, if you can't see them, it's raining'.
I never knew that phrase..from west Yorkshire myself..
Saw him live in Birmingham in August, ridiculously funny dude. Please check out "That Peter Kay Thing". A collection of spoof documentaries, the ice cream man cometh one will have you doubled up from start to finish.👍👍 Keep up the great videos you pair, best reacters on yt.
Its the way he nails older northern women
He's from Bolton (north of Manchester, where I grew up). Working class nans are exactly like he mimics
reminds me of Les Dawson in that regard ( who Peter would of watched as a kid ) , I think if you're lucky enough to come from the northwest of England his comedy hits different ( especially as I'm of the same age / generation ) .... we all grew up around his comedy , it speaks to our own upbringing and experience. His standup , Pheonix nights , Car share , That Peter Kay thing ..... are all love letters to the northwest.
@PhilipBowyer-h3x if you’ve had a Carrs pasty, you know
I love that they keep going to show his nanna and his mum when he mentions them
Mate, you do realise everyone is falling in love with your wife just for her wonderful laugh? I love your reactions guys, but her laugh always gives my day a lift. ❤
DELIGHTED I CAME ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL. I LAUGHED CONTINUOUSLY
The time he had a sketch set up featuring X factor judges. He nearly killed louis with laughter.
