- HEART’S DESIRE, The Five Boroughs, (CD Cut) 2000
Here is another really great cover version from my music collection. This is a very special upload today, Friday May 3, 2024, as Mrs. Mint is celebrating her 39th Birthday again, what 39 again? LOL. The song title is perfect. She’s my “HEART’S DESIRE”. Happy Birthday Mrs. Mint and many more!
The Five Boroughs' roots began with their founder Frank Iovino, who in 1958-1959 sang with The Bel Aires and in 1959-1964 sang with The Starfires. With little success and only a few demo recordings, Frank Iovino joined The Bob Knight Four in 1964 and performed with them through 1968.
After a 16-year absence from the music business, Frank was excited over the resurgence of Doowop music in the 1980's. In 1984 he got together with friends Jimmy Gallagher (Passions), Tony Passalacqua (Fascinators), Joe Neary and Dave Harting. They called themselves 'Bits & Pieces' because they were all from different singing groups. They recorded demos through 1985.
Still passionate about the music business and not willing to give up, Frank formed The Five Boroughs in 1985 and they had their first release the following year, an EP with 4 songs on the Tele-Media label.
The Five Boroughs would go on to record many more great songs for all of us to enjoy. Frank Iovino, singer, songwriter, arranger and producer made his mark. I hope the Doowop historians will eventually recognize Frank for his dedication, courage, personal sacrifice, and musical contribution to the world.
I’m dedicating this upload to the late “Frank Iovino” who passed away on July 9, 2017. Frank and I had a very special friendship. We talked about music a lot and he sent me quite a few songs that he wrote. I plan on sharing a lot of his songs on our channel sometime in the future. Frank was very talented. He is sadly missed!
Other records released by The Five Boroughs are:
1 - SUNDAY KIND OF LOVE/FOR YOUR PRECIOUS LOVE (Avenue D #15) 1988
2 - UNTIL THE REAL THING COMES ALONG/SECRET LOVE (Crescent #500) 1989
3 - ONE TOO MANY LIES/APART (Classic Artists #119) 1990
4 - HEAVEN AND CINDY/A KISS FROM YOUR LIPS (Classic Artists #122) 1990
5 - COUNT EVERY STAR/SEE YOU NEXT YEAR (Count Every Star #13840) 1990
6 - ONLY AT CHRISTMAS/LIKE A KID AT CHRISTMAS (Classic Artists #135) 1991
7 - RECESS IN HEAVEN, The 5 Boroughs, (Mona #31866) 1991, with Eddie Pardocchi (The 5 Discs) singing lead!
BTW, please check out a “GREAT” cover version of “LORRAINE” by The Five Boroughs on our channel. It’s “FANTASTIC!”
“HEART’S DESIRE” is a cut from a CD titled “HEARTS DESIRE”. The song was originally recorded by The Avalons (Unart #2007) 1958.
Here’s a list of the many group members who sang as The Five Boroughs on the 45’s and CD releases with Frank Iovino from the 1980’s through the 2000’s: Jimmy Dellarossa, Charlie Notabartolo, Bruce Goldie, Dave Strum, Johnny Sorrentino and Gino Radicello and Steve Ward, Brian Daly and Siobhan Daly.
Enjoy this really great cover version of “HEART’S DESIRE” by The Five Boroughs with Siobhan Daly singing lead. She absolutely kills it!! - เพลง
