Teachers actually used to be like this back in the olden days. When my grandma was in elementary school she told me it was very strict, and they had to keep their hands folded together on their desk, otherwise they would get hit on the knuckles with the teacher's yardstick.
I wouldn't like it but I think it was a teaching method that inspired dignity and respect. I admire many of the elderly and my parents for being able to achieve so much in their first 15 years of living that what I will probably ever do in my whole life. Yeah violence is bad, but it trains you and teaches you lessons that only violence can offer.
