I'm a Yank in Los Angeles.. This looks like the prototype for the Peco LK55 HO/OO TT with the large wheels on its ends. Can't find a US prototype with such large wheels is what males me skittish about going British !! (Just rhymed that now !).. But rumor has it Peco is a better product than the Walthers/Cornerstone US type.. Anyroad (as Ringo says), those are beautiful locomotives ! (man that'a allot of bricks !!!)...
@comedyhunter Hello there. Glad to share! The turntable is in the original turntable pit on what was the site of Rowsley shed. A locoshed has also been built on the site of the original, but not the full legth of the original. Maybe one day... Alan
Lovely but sad film. There on the day...Watched Pete (in his "sunday's") grabbing the Vac a piping up..and "THAT" speech....Twelve years already - Many gone..too many. In memory of Alan and Barbera W -and all the departed Rowsley Association Members, and particularly lamenting the wonderfully dedicated Glynn Waite. 17D lives......on
@EastMidlandsSteam There a hardy bunch of volunteers there in the 8F locomotive group and the turntable team. Peak Rail would be lost without folks like these and all heritage railways would.
Its amazing to think peak Rail have built this and 8624 outside in all conditions. Just imagine what they will have built/achieved in 10 years:D Be nice to see them get Tours come in the make more money when the links completed in a few months :D
@lollololoyea Sort of....You can hook up a steam locomotive...or any locomotive with a vacuum brake and the loco can turn itself as it has a vacuum motor on it...or you can turn it by hand!
It is turned by the locomotive vacume pipe so it is tuned by vacuum? Hope this satisfied your question. 11 years late. A vacume motor turns the turntable ??
Wow... !!! It's always great. Your video is excellent quality. We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
I must get out more. I only found out about this wonderful achievement today. Somewhat late.but what a brilliant development. Thanks to everyone.
I think the loco is currently undergoing overhaul at the moment.
Great video. Peter Waterman looks a happy man. Well done all involved. Great stuff 👍
Well done Mr. Waterman and your team of volunteers!
The 47 had to be done by hand ,, wow ,, amazing video .. keep them coming.
Cheers from John in Australia
Thanks. Glad you liked the video. :)

Aye, and it was that short guy in the end photo who laid them all. Hope you find the turntable type you are looking for. :)
Nice turntable, loved it

Good to see working Steam Locomotive back on Rail Road.

@EastMidlandsSteam I've been there a few times. Enjoy. It's quite a site they have with plenty to do!

Nice turntable, is it powered by steam?
