    Oh man those 5-10 seconds of genuine “what the hell do I do now” in the beginning was hilarious! I’ve been there before. Once the 4 place trailer uncoupled from my hitch (brand new truck) and I was like “well there goes my tailgate”. Some how I didn’t wreck my tailgate and all ended well. But there was a 10 second “what do I do now”. I was on my sled, on the trailer and was balancing with the trailer tongue in the air. 😂😂😂😂

    Oh no your not the only one carrying chain saws on your mtn sled . Me and a buddy been sled logging for years lol it's mainly just getting fire wood but we've snapped mtn sleds in half pulling way to big of dead and pre limb trees . So for years I was using my 1968 ski-boos but stopped using it because it's so cool and functional and I want to hand it down to my kids like it was handed down to me anyway so I built a custom sled trailer to trash on

    I say do whatever mix you think is best. the ski doo manuals for that era all say 40:1 but if you're a heavy thumb kind of rider you might want to run 20:1 just don't let it idle ha ha ha. alpines are wicked cool machines. ride on man!

    Best thing to do with that old sled is add some taller foam to the seat does wonders makes your legs more room

    • @calsgonefishing5812
      @calsgonefishing5812 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are foot slots under the hood, the one has your pant leg directly against the turning primary...no thanks. Besides you have to get into that MotoGP lean into the corner stance for those high speed 15kph corners.

    Good info, I added the adjustable and have struggled off-trail at full extension. I would not have thought about the sled pushing have more leverage one me. Might try my next trip with the whole thing removed. My question is, what are you thoughts about an extra 1-2” to save my back?

    Since a snowmobile distributes its weight over a wide area, the pressure (weight per square inch) is much lower than the pressure created by a person on foot.

    • @calsgonefishing5812
      @calsgonefishing5812 ปีที่แล้ว

      Less pressure than quad also. Went yesterday on 400EX and was breaking through everywhere. Got past the big hole.

    Here's a tip, loose the carbides. You don't need them on a mountain sled, they just cause problems. Install regular steel wear bars.

    35 mph sounds about right. The old 70, 399 Panther topped on at 55 on a good day 😂

    • @calsgonefishing5812
      @calsgonefishing5812 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correction, that is 35 Km/hr. 35 MPH would be terrifying.😁 Wasn't there a Cat 500 of some sort in the mid 70's? Rode one up in Swan Hills as a lad and that one scared the hell out of me. There wasn't a road wide enough to keep it straight.

  • @CalgaryDynastar
    @CalgaryDynastar ปีที่แล้ว

    I switched to wear bars years back to not have to deal with carbides wrecking everything and catching on aluminum. Would never go back, not as good on trail but who cares about that when you're mountain riding.

  • @farming4g
    @farming4g ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Only you make mountain sleds do all that carrying tools around? When a sled is on a farm, it gets put to work at times. I've carried a baby calf on my m800 last year. Strapped on a metal tub behind the seat to carry fencing fixing supplies, and I've gotten netwrap around the track before.... that sucked ***.
