Hi Rob. I've always been a little apprehensive about using flash. I have both the TT350 and the X1. I have learned so in an hour on how to use these with my Sony A6300. Just good straightforward instruction without any gimmicks. I feel much more confident now. So many thanks. You have a new subscriber.

Absolutely fantastic tutorial, I have this exact setup but with a GX85 (my EM-10 works somewhat but all modes aren’t supported). Finally got up and running thanks to this video, thanks a million!
Excellent tutorial, I am new to Godox and while the setting up of groups & channels I found easy, I did have the over exposed issue you illustrated at the end of the video. Shows that you will always learn something new.
Thank you for this video! I just purchased a Godox transmitter and receiver, and your video is easier to follow than that little booklet (I'm a visual learner).
Rob thanks, friend. I have purchased this system. Now I have a TT660 for Sony and a TT350 for Olympus. And I can now arrange this separately with the X1 on my Olympus OM10 II. I want to tell you something, not important, but I bought everything for my Olympus, including the camera, by watching your videos. I would ask for a commission at Olympus. -:) - :)
Rob, thank you very much for this video. It was an amazingly clear explanation about the technology. The only missing thing in Olympus (I recently arrived to the system, coming from Nikon) is the I do not find the Flash Exposure Lock that Canon and Nikon have. It was really useful for me as I used it very often.

I like the decreased charge time but it is a little big for macro work being a bit to high to get in around the plants trying to photograph bugs. Keep blowing out leaves above them.
Thx for a great video Rob! Just received my TT350-O and an XT2-O. Went for the newer trigger. Really enjoy both units, and the XT2 also has Bluetooth so it can be controlled remotely with my phone! How did we manage in the old film days???
I have similar system, only it under the Flashpoint brand name. The flashes are the Zoom Li-On R2 model with the large rechargeable batteries. These flashes are extremely powerful and support only group A,B & C as does the actual trigger transmitter.. I'm wondering why your transmitter supports 5 groups.
I'll have to ask my buddy who just bought the flashpoint versions. He got the r2 pro trigger, ad600 and ad400. Curious to see if the groups are limited to just 3 on his. My flashes are limited to 3 groups, but the triggers seem to have many more.
Another superbly simple explanation of a complex subject, Rob. You really are a fantastic teacher. Just one question on the Zoom Mode? I presume "zoom" refers to the focal length of the lens? If so, does it matter that focal lengths in micro 4/3rds are 2x their full-frame equivalents? BTW, I was thinking of buying the more expensive pro Trigger, which is said to be easier to use. But, after watching your really clear simple explanation, I don't think the X1T is all that complicated. Actually, you made it sound very simple. Thanks, Rick
Thanks. Honestly I've never gotten a clear answer on the focal length for the zoom. However, based on the wide 24mm setting, it appears to be equivalent to 12mm on our camera in my testing. In practice, I found zooming in is really trial and error regardless.
Hello Rob, to say thank you is not enough, when it comes to explanations and/or tutorials you are second to none, great video, definitely this one is going to my saved favorites. The question I have is using it as a fill flash, if I’m shooting outside (in shade) with just one off camera flash and the trigger, would I use it in TTL or in manual mode and take some test shots to determine at what power to set the trigger?
Hi Rob, can you please explain what the single contact mode setting is used for (in custom functions)? The manual states: "It is advisable to set the transmitter to single contact mode when using it to trigger the flash by PC cord or through camera’s single contact". Not sure what they mean here. Any insight is appreciated. In one of your earlier videos, you demonstrate using a flash on the trigger's hotshoe, but I am sure you would have mentioned this setting if it was relevant in any way. Cheers
Single contact just means the camera will only singnal the trigger or flash through one of the electrical contacts on the hot shoe - the center largest contact. Meaning it will not send any ttl or exposure information to the trigger that might effect the flash output and exposure. This way the camera settings and the flash settings will be independent of each other.
Good video...I'm sure I'll watch it again and again in the future. I had a problem on the tt350 where the wireless id (custom function) was set to 1 and did not fire. So learnt that error....lol
Wow, what at amazing video Rob, I was holding off until I actually had the XT1 and the TT350 which I now have and I'm glad I did, you explained it all really well although I was a little worried at the start when you were talking about a 3 flash light setup as my experience level is barely at the using one at all at the moment. Just need to experiment now with using them together. Do you have any videos which show you actually using this combination on a subject e.g. in determining whether TTL is best, or Manual is best and then when you would use fill in flash or first/2nd curtain? Thanks again Rob and Stay Safe.
Thanks, Chris. I haven't made any videos using them like this. TTL vs manual will be an interesting challenge for me. I'll give some thought to a video. I rarely shoot TTL.

Does the X1T-Olympus trigger work with Godox TT350 flashes that are not made for Olympus? Meaning, can I buy a TT350N flash that was made for Nikon and use it on my Olympus MFT camera system?
I would say yes. Although I haven't tested that combination specifically, when I was on a photowalk with the club, a Sony user was shooting with a godox x1t trigger and flashes. I had to switch channels because his trigger kept firing my flashes and visa versa. Also, the larger godox studio flashes don't come in specific models like AD-400s and yet my Godox X1T-o triggers fire them. TTL works with the studio flashes as well.
Hi Rob. Do you experience fast camera battery drain with the trigger mounted on the hot shoe? My EM10 Mark ii batteries drain twice as fast with the trigger mounted as without. My shot count is halved. They're actually warm when I remove them. Thanks
I haven't noticed any difference with the trigger attached and I do a lot of shoots with it in my pro work. I think I can test for this but it would take a while. Maybe setup a time lapse with the trigger firing and another time lapse with the trigger off and see if I get more or less pics.
@@RobTrek hi Rob. That's very kind but you don't need to do that. It's so noticable on my camera that I think you'd have noticed it already too if it was a system wide problem. I'll get to the bottom of it. Thanks for looking and replying!! :)
What would be a reason the flash isn’t going off? I set up everything in same channel and grade, but when I shoot the flash doesnt go off. I’m shooting with a Nikon D850
I have Fujifilm X-T3, Godox flash TT350f and Godox X1Tf . I tried all your instructions, but the X1t does not trigger the flash, even when I shoot with X1t on the camera. Can you tell me what the problem is please?
Double check the channel and group numbers match on the flash and trigger. Make sure you have "Fill-In" flash set in-camera. Push the "test" button on top of the x1t and be sure the flash fires - this will confirm you have channel and group set correctly. Try setting the flash for manual at 1/1 power and see if it fires when you push the trigger. Let me know if any of that works.
Hi Rob. My question to you is when I open the RC mode on, I can not see the Super Control Panel on the screen like you do in the video when I press the OK button. How can I set that? And for those who don't know how to use Godox X1T, make sure this; your flash setting has to be on before you turn on the RC mode on. I thought when I switched on the RC mode it was ready to use Godox X1T Radio trigger. But no. And the second important thing which is harder than figure out that 'all devices must be on the same channel' is if your camera stayed in a silent mood, you can not use the flash trigger again. I hope this information will be helpful to someone. Because I struggled a lot :(
Hi Rob. Thanks a lot for such very detailed video. I´m using the EM10 Mii with the Godox X1T+AD200, but I´m not able to set up my speed faster than 1/200th without going HSS. Should not the X1T to use the max sync speed of the camera (1/250th) ? Is it possible to use 1/250th without activate HSS? Thanks
I still like the tt350 as a small flash. There is a lithium ion battery version out now that recycles faster and probably lasts longer. There are larger flashes like the V1 with the round head. It has a magnetic mount to attach accessories. I prefer to use this flash with the radio trigger off-camera.
I just ordered the Godex AD400 Pro and the X1T for sony. As for chanels, what channel with the light be set to so i can set the correct channel on the transmitter?
The flash and the trigger can be set independently to different channels. Simply set them both to the same channel and group. So Group A, Channel 1 is usually the default.
How do you know which power to use? I have just bought the tt350 and x1t for the G85. Say I use 1/128 flash power. How many stops do I have to dial down the exposure in camera to compensate ? Is there a way to check that my compensation was spot on without the use of a Lightmeter after taking the shot? After compensation say I find the subject is exposed properly because the flash is falling on him or her. Now the background is too dark. How can j make it so the background landscape (on which the flash is not falling) is still exposed properly? I'm assuming all this compensation would be a function of distance from flash to subject. How did one factor that in?
For the first exposure, it's very hard to know without a lightmeter. I do a few test shots to get it right. If the background is too dark, you need to let more ambient light in. Usually you can just slow the shutter speed down without affecting the flash's exposure. If you're already at 1/60th, then you have to reduce flash power and increase iso and/or aperture in equal stops. Conversely, if the background it too bright, you can increase shutter speed (hence popularity of HSS) or add an nd filter, but then you need to increase flash power. This is were you may need a more powerful flash than the tt350.
Rob, as always your videos are the best. I'm a long time subscriber. I just got my TT350 and X1 trigger. My Em5 will not fire the flash. I've also tried downloading the firmware update. The x1 is firing the 350 in test mode. I've gotten no response from Godox support. Any thoughts?
Hi. Check to make sure you have the letter O versions of the trigger and flash. Check that you have the flash mode in the camera set to Auto or Fill In. To be sure, set camera flash mode to Fill In, Trigger group A TTL, and flash group A TTL, and channel 1 on trigger and flash. Try putting the flash directly on the camera and see if it fires. Let me know so we can try some other stuff.
Rob, boy do I feel dumb. I bought the Sony version thinking it was compatible. I didn’t know there was a separate version for our Olympus equipment. I’ve got the new one in the cart and will return the wrong ones tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
With the X1T, on the em10-ii, the minimum is 1/180th, on the em1-ii it's 1/250th. Maximum is 30secs. With HSS, it's 1/4000th on the em10 and 1/8000 on the em1.
Hi Rob, very informative video! However, I can't seem to use HSS mode when using the flash off-camera as a slave. My camera will show the HSS icon when raising the shutter speed and aperture but the TT685s won't display the HSS icon or let you select it. Any way to do this? Thanks in advance!
I don't think the display on the flash will always show what mode the trigger is going to send it. If you're getting flash in your shots with shutter speeds over 1/500th, then you can be sure hss is working.
@@RobTrek Well there must be something wrong because I’m running some tests indoors and after viewing the pictures, the flash doesn’t seem to be overexposing the subject when setting the flash at M 1/1 and camera at 1/2000 f22 ISO 200. Even with fresh batteries. Thanks for the quick reply though I really appreciate it!
@@514Shoots The flash loses significant power when using hss compared to normal sync speeds. I much prefer using an nd filter and staying within the normal sync speeds so I get the full power of the flash.
@@RobTrek That’s good to know! If I wanted to overpower daylight with normal sync speeds to achieve a darker background how would I go about it with this flash? Or is that not possible? I’m using the tt685s
Hi. I need a little more info. Which trigger and flash do you have? I'm not familiar the the receiver only devices. Also, when you push the test button on the trigger, does the flash fire?
@RobTrek I have a Godox X1T trigger and receivers. The channel and groups are set but it I try and change the power setting on the light from the trigger, it won't change. I have to walk over to the light and manually change it
I don't have the same setup, so can't test this. But I can only guess that maybe you are using the sync cord from the receiver to the flash. In that case, the flash will not get the setting information and only fire.
Rob I must be doing something wrong but what I just don't know what. I have EMD M1X Godox X1T and Godox 350o. The camera is checked for flash fill in, it is switched on. The X1T is switched on and mounted on the camera with A TTL CH 1 displayed, I have zero'd all the other channels. The 350o is set to A TTL, the antenna is showing followed by S CH 1, the lens is 60mm so I set zoom to 50mm. When I focus and shoot the flash does not fire. If I remove the X1T and put the 350 on the flash gun it fires and gives good TTL exposure. Do you know what is wrong any advice would be much appreciated.
Does the flash fire when you push the test button on the x1t trigger? Doesn't matter if it's on the camera or not but this will confirm the channel and group are matched. If so, then make sure you've mounted the x1t all they way into the hot shoe, it can feel like it's all the way in but it's not sometimes. Let me know.
On the x1t trigger display, is TTL next to the Group letter "A"? Or "m" with some fraction to the right like "1/1". If you see no "TTL" or "m" and only "--" then the flash won't fire.
Only other thing I can think of at this point is to make sure you are using the X1T-O trigger. There will be a painted letter "O" on top of the trigger under the letters "2.4g".
Thank you so much for producing this video. It really helps me to understand the Godox system. All I need now is to practice using them. Great instruction and definitely helpful! Thank you. PS: Can I use Godox trigger X1t with Olympus flash FL-600R?
Do i also have to set the flash to M or ttl or can i do it via x1t? For example, i set my flash to M but when i just changed the mode to ttl in x1t, the flash still displays M mode but it did fired. Did the flash fired in M or ttl?
Yes, but why I can't see flash options on A (aperture priority) mode same like in your screen. You used to reset the camera settings first before to start operating to be on the same page with the other users. You are not doing it anymore :(
After I struggled like an hour I figured that out. If the shooting mood is on silent mood with a heart icon, there is no way for using flash. I had no idea about it. I am watching every video that you made. They are great. But I didn't like the background from the sheet. Your home decoration was much more natural and better.
Yes, I forgot to mention you must be in a mechanical shutter mode. I'm still working on my studio. I put that sheet to help with the sound echo I was getting. I am going to add back in my green screen so I can change the background. I also put a towel on the table top which helped a lot. I like working in other rooms that are more natural as you pointed out, but there are too many noisy distractions. I live on a main street and behind a highway where big trucks and motorcycles are constantly interrupting my recordings. Also, my dog has free roam of the house and she barks a lot. In my little "studio", I added sound insulation and close the door. I can't tell you how many times I had to start over when recording anywhere else in the house!
Hi. Make your you have the letter "O" on all your Godox gear. For example "X1To" and "TT350o". These will work on both Olympus and Panasonic. Let me know. Thanks.
@@kevinjack5184 That looks right. Are you having trouble with the trigger firing the flash? If so, make sure the Channel and Groups are matched up and that you have the wireless receiver turned on in the flash.
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. If the video is too long, you can play back at 2x speed. If you don't understand what sync means or the difference between high speed sync, syncing in ttl vs manual mode, or in slave mode, then I didn't explain it well in this video.

Thanks
For some reason the sync speed is capped lower on the e-m10 mark ii. That's not the case with my em1-ii.
with all the new godox flashes out in 2022 what would be the best choice for my Olympus em5 mark ii
Wonderful thank you. It was amazing
Rob Trek Awesome. Thanks so much for the quick reply. I’ll let you know how this turns out.
Rob, boy do I feel dumb. I bought the Sony version thinking it was compatible. I didn’t know there was a separate version for our Olympus equipment. I’ve got the new one in the cart and will return the wrong ones tomorrow. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Glad this was an easy fix. Thanks for letting me know.
evening Rob , In aperture priority mode is there a maximum and minimum shutters speed I can use .
@@514Shoots You just need a variable nd. Watch this video: th-cam.com/video/N6WKrrox2Q0/w-d-xo.html
Great teacher.
Thank you! 😃
The trigger is connected but it won't change the lighting power to the receiver. I have to change it manually which is so discouraging. I need help
I have to walk over to the light and manually change it
@RobTrek The flash is a Neewer Vision Five. Yes it fires. It us being recognized by the trigger and fires when the camera shoots.
I don't have the same setup, so can't test this. But I can only guess that maybe you are using the sync cord from the receiver to the flash. In that case, the flash will not get the setting information and only fire.
Hi Rob,
Is the Godox Xpro-O trigger compatible with the TT350o flash?
Yes!
@@RobTrek Thanks
@@RobTrek No the gun doesn't fire, the red light on the X1T illuminates. (I checked the latter was fully engaged in the hot shoe).
On the x1t trigger display, is TTL next to the Group letter "A"? Or "m" with some fraction to the right like "1/1". If you see no "TTL" or "m" and only "--" then the flash won't fire.
@@RobTrek Rob the x1t indicates A TTL (and CH1)
Only other thing I can think of at this point is to make sure you are using the X1T-O trigger. There will be a painted letter "O" on top of the trigger under the letters "2.4g".
I have a Godox TT350N. What trigger can i buy? Tge Godox X1t N, is working with TT350N?
Yes, the "N" is for Nikon. I assume you have a Nikon Camera. Thanks.
Thank you so much for producing this video. It really helps me to understand the Godox system. All I need now is to practice using them. Great instruction and definitely helpful! Thank you.
PS: Can I use Godox trigger X1t with Olympus flash FL-600R?
No, the X series triggers only work with Godox.
Hi Rob, I have the X1TC can I use my 470EX-AI if get a X1R receiver as it is optical not radio?
You should be able to setup your 470ex via the x1r and use the x1t to fire it. TTL should still work. Your 470ex does not have to be radio.
Thanks
Do i also have to set the flash to M or ttl or can i do it via x1t? For example, i set my flash to M but when i just changed the mode to ttl in x1t, the flash still displays M mode but it did fired. Did the flash fired in M or ttl?
It will fire based on what you set the trigger. You can ignore the mode on the flash.
@@RobTrek thank you for the answer..
Yes, but why I can't see flash options on A (aperture priority) mode same like in your screen. You used to reset the camera settings first before to start operating to be on the same page with the other users. You are not doing it anymore :(
Thanks. I'll go back to resetting in the beginning. Which settings are you seeing for flash mode if any?
Quite helpful. Thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your excellent videos 😎👍
My pleasure!
Excellent video, thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
How can get my trigger out sleeping mode ? ,every second its go to sleep mode
You should be able to just push the "TEST" button on top of the trigger to wake it up.
@@RobTrek okay ,thank you so much. I go try tommorow
Thank you. This is a great video.
Thanks for watching!
This was awesome
Thank you!
Great video.
Thanks!
I can't get mine to link with the flash...
Hi. Make your you have the letter "O" on all your Godox gear. For example "X1To" and "TT350o". These will work on both Olympus and Panasonic. Let me know. Thanks.
@@RobTrek it's all S. I have a7riii
@@kevinjack5184 That looks right. Are you having trouble with the trigger firing the flash? If so, make sure the Channel and Groups are matched up and that you have the wireless receiver turned on in the flash.
@@RobTrek "wireless receiver turned on in the flash" meaning?

20 minutes to learn how to sync?
Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. If the video is too long, you can play back at 2x speed. If you don't understand what sync means or the difference between high speed sync, syncing in ttl vs manual mode, or in slave mode, then I didn't explain it well in this video.
