I was wondering why they didn't set that Pick like they did it here...They really screwed the pooch with those stupid barges...If you have solid ground to stage from USE IT. If not MAKE IT SOLID.

You should have all gotten on barges out in the river that way it would be really stable

But? They have the bridge deck! WITCHED OUT first!!! (WITHOUT PROBLEMS) And there is no footage? Because the bridge deck was refurbished! And that went well!

Please do note the counterweight is not on the bridge section the second try.

Please forgive, but Dutch is not one of my (seven) foreign languages. Hooray! Cranes on the land this time! The counterweight is not attached! I am so sorry for the homes that were destroyed before, but thankful to God that no one was hurt. Thank you for posting the video of the "Dutch Bridge Done Right" and the "Dutch Bridge Done Wrong" as I use in the crane and rigging classes I teach.

1:14 “Ja natuurlijk, er mag toch ook wel eens wat goed gaan in alphen”
Ondertussen onderhouden ze hun wegen half en hebben ze nog steeds alle vertrouwen in een bouwerij

The original crane-on-barge idea that led to the collapse was a complete engineering failure that could have been obvious to any student of Newtonian mechanics. Whoever was responsible for that fiasco needs to go back to school.

The barges were to narrow. The outrigger span was as wide as the barges. First time I watched the vid at the very beginning I thought, the barges are to narrow. The counterweights on cranes that big should have almost flipped the barges. I know this because I'm a crane operator and have worked on barges. Plus two separate barges makes it even more unpredictable.
