Hi Steve, great video and great advice. I have started using a light board for my site and appreciate the knowledge you share. I subscribed and look forward to future videos.
Steve, thanks for sharing your light board journey. I'm going to do something silly and see how far one can get with an iPhone 7+. :) I know you say the secret is the camera, so I'm curious to see how far I can get. With that said, what lights are you using for each area and would you go the same route or different if starting over? I'm in a fairly small room - 13 x 12 with recessed lights and a window. I'll black the window and then curious how much light I'd need. Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
hello steve! this is great amazing video i have ever seen but is that 10 mm plexi glass {plastic or glass } and that the led lights is covering the four sides under the glass ? please tell me about that im very intrested to make one for my youtube channel thanks in advance
Great video on this my question is how to you position the camera? How far should it be from the board? Also what about scratches..have you found that if there are tiny scratches that it can be compensated for the camera settings so they are not noticeable;
Great thanks so much and what lights do you recommend? I don't have the barn door ones that you recommend just 2 LED with stands. Is that doable or is yours just a preference? If you think yours are a must have let me know which ones you like.
Hi Steve. Thanks for the informative video. I am building out a lightboard and am wondering if the glass should have polished edges or not. Which would work best?
Great videos! I have followed a lot of your advice and created a light board of my own which works very well. The only thing is- when I record the pens all look the same colour, even though when you look at the board directly they glow in luminous and very clearly different colours. Any idea why this might happen?
Hi Steve, thanks for your awesome videos, Have you try to record both lightboard and computer screen? implemented slide into your lecture to interact, also?
Thanks for such kind of informative video. I am interested to make my own light board. Can you please tell me how much should be the height of glass if I have table of 3 feet ( in case when I want to give lecture while I am standing)
when I was working out the height of my lightboard, I tried to make it the same height as the whiteboard in my classroom. So the top of the glass is 1900mm from the floor. So that is about 6 foot 6 inches I think.
CHEMISTRY LOVERS about 5-6 mm is best. we used to think 10mm as that is the width of the LED strip. But it is too heavy and too expensive. 3mm is too thin and flimsy.
Hi Steve, Very nice. I am trying to put together the same setup. I am facing this issue. I am getting the smudges signs on the board - no matter how much I clean still I get those smudges and it is really difficult to get rid of them in post production. If I try to remove the blacks the subjects get dark or the markers looks fade. Kindly suggest - either I am missing something in my camera settings or shall i try any other editing tool for post production. I am at Shutter Speed 1/100. Thanks. Saurabh
Many Thanks when I change ISO and White Balance it works magic... . Can you please advise if we can change those settings in live class via using ZOOM or other applications please advise
gurudut cotipalli great news. I think you might be able to if you run your camera through your computer via Bluetooth or mini HDMI (depending on what camera you have). Then you could use the camera as your webcam for Zoom. I don’t teach using the light board for live lessons but I think it is a great idea. Let me know how you go.
Hi Steve, first of all thank you .. Would you please clear my doubt ..... When can I mirror the video ? Is it possible to mirror the video during the editing ?
hi steve i seen the post but i m little bit confused only at glass because here the glass cost is too much so im confused for that ok!! presently im going to buy 3 mm plexi glass 4x5
Hi Steve, I am trying a similar set up but n struggling with the neon effect. I have the right markers but can’t see the Colors when I record. are you using a special filter?
Hi, I find that it all comes down to camera settings. I use a digital SLR on manual. I just played around with aperture, ISO and shutter speed until I got the colour I wanted. A colleague was able to achieve the same effect with a smart phone! Good luck.
No they don’t glow in the dark really. But the glass is filled with light. So when the light goes through the writing it glows. You can use liquid chalk pens too. Normal whiteboard markers don’t work very well though.
Chemistry By Rahul Sarode Sir I have a friend who tried a mobile and got good results. There are apps that allow you to adjust the camera settings. However he just used a Samsung with no special features and it worked well
In my light board Im having 2 issues 1.In the center of the glass the colours are not very bright as they are on the edges 2.All expo neon colours are not as bright as that shown on your videos Please advise Thank you
The light isn’t penetrating to the centre of the board as well. You can try brighter lights. The colour brightness comes from the camera settings. You need to play around with the iso, aperture and shutter speed.

Sorry I didn’t see your question earlier. Yes it is glass- ultra clear. And the LEDs go all the way around the board.
