Ever wonder why almost no one on the internet has explained the fluid complex relationship between E? and Compression so perfectly? I cannot recall seeing this anywhere else...Bravo!! I am personally a fan of corrective measures before compression as she points to.
The only time I recommend a compressor first is vocals. If you can’t compress on the way in, a distressor helps a lot. The distressor is usually first in my signal chain. Once the vocal is leveled out other problems become more apparent because now they can jump out at you. A nice thing about the UAD Distressor is you can add filters so it doesn’t effect your low end or other frequencies if you don’t want it to. After the distressor I’ll add Nectar and I’ve found it to work really really well.
I'm always looking for ways to improve, even with the program itself. For example, it would be fascinating if the program could connect with all instances of Neutron and Nectar and include a smart switch to identify and balance conflicting frequencies between instruments. This would prevent instruments from competing for the same frequency range. Ideally, this could be done after the overall mix has been processed in the mixdown stage. Additionally, it would be great to have a feature that normalizes volume at the start of the process. This way, the sound won't feel overly processed unless you intentionally push it. Proper leveling and volume control would help create a more balanced mix from the beginning.
Some current digital mixers have a set order of signal chain that can't be changed, others can be. In the daw it is interesting to hear the difference of effects placement.
Hi from Russia! Could you add some neural networks to RX12? Like AI-denoise, AI-declick and AI-dehum, please? If you do that - you will be absolutely perfect, more perfect than CEDAR. Sorry for the off-topic.
As a long time pro guitarist, bass and keyboard recording artist I say ... DON"T USE plugin effects from Ozone or anyone else. USE your guitar/bass/keyboard pedals. They sound much better. Set up your guitar tones and effects via amps and pedal board. Record that and re-record until you are happy. As all DAW plugin effects are poor quality by comparison this video is irrelevant imo
Finally, an EQ before Compression explanation I clearly understood! Thank you!

Wonderful info and brilliantly explained. 👌

Def a great vid. I am a noob to all this so having these are lifesavers❤
that was very good and simple. Nice job
Finally!!! I've been questioning this for years!
My personal preference: EQ first to tame harsh frequencies and control spikes, then compress after to smooth it out.

🔥🔥🔥
First EQ to clean the sound then i compres the vocal with clean sound
I place EQ according to how much “destructive” elements I have/will have done…respecting the artifacts that each produce…
Hey iZotope, I just got the High DPI with the Ozone 11 Windows update. Can we also have it for Neutron, Nectar, and Tonal Balance 2?

Hi! You can already use the Repair Assistant with features like De-hum and De-click. Please see more info here: bit.ly/3TcfWAv

Why does the Ozone Master Asisstant, no matter what track, no matter the mix, always use the EXACT same master effects chain?
