- A brief history and tour of Colditz Castle in the state of Saxony, Germany. This 16th century castle was notorious as Oflag IV-C, a German prison camp for Allied officer POWs during World War II. Many escape attempts were made, and prisoners sewed and dyed German uniforms to disguise their escapes. Most famous of all was the 2-man glider prisoners built in the attic to attempt to fly off the roof to freedom.
Fuck, I never knew this place is actually real, I saw Castle Colditz in Commandos 2 video game. lol
Thank you! I'm reading a book about the POW camp. This puts "the picture" where the words are!
Just started reading 'Castle of the Eagles' by Mark Felton. Wanted to get a better idea of what this looks like. This little tour helps me picture the scenes.
I am currently reading colditz by Ben Macintyre this is great visual !!!!
We stayed the night there last year.Very reasonable price .Food was buffet style and nice .Very clean and modern .Went on the full tour with the fantastic guide Steffi.I loved every minute of the experience .10 out of 10 and the same for your video.Love from Scotland.
Commando 2 men of courage in real.
What a marvellous, grand old building/s. Would love to spend a day there exploring it's nooks, maybe even the odd cranny or two - see how we go.
Over 700 rooms!
Visiting soon. Great video gives a fantastic preview of what there is. Thanks
Just like my old school

remind me of commandos2
I love that mission
We must rescue the prisioners, we'll disgise them with enemy uniforms
Good job! I would love to also be able to catch such a good summary of places I visit. I am not able to do so though. Great work!
I was there on my class trip for one week and it was amazing!
Beautiful and horrifying at the same time😢
where is colonel Preston?
The wife and I visited there last year, the weather was freezing and she ended up with cold t*ts...!!
Many prisoners escaped 8 Dutch, 7 French, 9 polish officers. Great Serie and boardgame by the way
We went there 2 years ago, it was worthwhile, will go there once again.

Thanks for watching! I am traveling in Germany and just visited Remagen (the bridge) today.
Great video!
i'm just watching the original tv series from the 70's, i remember watching as a child, its still a fantastic series even by today's standards, thanks for your film and look round, way better than trying to visualize still photos, it's quite an emotional place to think what went on
thank you for my freedom!
