    I am a radio talk show host. I spend my time speaking to a microphone and can't see my audience. When addressing complex issues, I must be very specific. I suggest you imagine that your listener only has your voice and no visual. Use the visual but talk as if you do not have it. You will find it to be a very powerful exercise.

      @@capsyzeable8790 really man? an ad hominem attack... he's actually giving really good constructive advice. I personally find this tutorial guy a little hard to follow because he talks so fast and doesn't clearly explain everything he's doing. I'm bran new to this, this is my first day learning SolidWorks, and so far it's taking me 4.5 hours just to follow the first 16 minutes, I have to repeat and go over and over and over, and now I'm stuck at 16:45 where she goes onto "Convert Entites" and I cannot get it to duplicate what she gets. It's been like this the whole time where it takes me forever to get it to duplicate what she gets. Errrr. .. .... ..Now it's been another hour and I'm STILL STUCK at the same place. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. -- Day 2, about 2 more hours and I was able to get the results shown from beginning to end. Yeah! One week later, after following other excercises I come back to this and I found myself stuck once again at creating another circle using Convert Entities, 2 hours spent and cannot duplicate what she does. at 17:13 she builds and then poof, her y x axis is on back mode, not mine. Each time I was able to finish it I would have no idea what I did to make it work and so about another 30minutes is spent trying to duplicate the ending, again and again, finally I just give up and move onto andother tutorial. Shezzzz. -----Here I am adding to my comment a few days later because I found the secret, she doesn't tell you that if you skip her excersise of drawing rectangles just before you go into Convert Entites that more than likely Convert Entities will not work the way you want it to. Doing her rectangle excercises affects or opens the proper plane to do Convert Entities.

    • @mansoorishaker
      @mansoorishaker 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Convert entities works when you are in the sketching mode and you use it to convert and old sketch (which is rebuilt) or an edge of a solid body into a sketch on your current sketching surface.

    • @GoldenPepperFilms
      @GoldenPepperFilms 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@mansoorishaker I am in sketch mode at 16:45, she activates Convert Entites, which I do, she mouses over to two edges, which I do, but I do NOT get the same edges she gets, it looks like she is able to grab -edge1- and -silhouette edge- from one side, but no way I cannot get that, I get the sihouette edge from the side, but I get -edge1- from the center line going up and down. So once I get the two edges I build it and then follow her instructions, I get exactly what she has at 17:02, but then for me it gets lost, she choses right plane and poof, her model is sitting on a right axis as shown on the bottom left side of her model, mine doesn't do that, so I make an additional move and hit the space bar and chose normal view mode, and then I get what she has at 17:20, I then follow her instructions only to get a half protruding circle in the end, or I don't get anyting at all. So I play around with it a lot, doing this and doing this and then all of a sudden I get the ending she gets, but I can never go back a duplicate it, only by luck it seems to work for me each time, errrr.

    Smart dimensions or Constraints in Inventor are a nightmare, what's the point of using a smart dimension that sets the standard for all other dimensions if it's wrong? Crazy! If the circle had changed to the right scale, that of 10 instead of 200, that would have made sense, but this just complicates matters.

      @@with-Aryan Hi Aryan, firstly, thank you for providing the video, I like the way that you highlight commands on it by focusing in on them. The problem that I was having was when you were assigning a 'smart' dimension to the circle that was 84.489 units or something like, but you gave it a 'smart' dimension of 10 diameter, where the size of the circle did not change, I suppose because you were assigning it that dimension, it just seemed illogical to draw something with a correct dimension but then give it another, so I'm still confused. Solidworks is similar to Autodesk's Inventor programme, in that sketches need constraining, which baffles me since when you draw something on a sketch I would automatically think that those dimensions and location would remain, but obviously not. In Solidworks it talks about being Under Defined or Fully Defined, which is the same concept as constraints in Inventor.

      There are so many different factors that these individual issues that you will come across depend on. I cannot diagnose the reason in your case without seeing your part tbh, and that's what I do for my SCP members inside my forum. For now, I can tell you to make sure you are looking at your drawing plane perpendicularly, AND that you have an active sketching mode on! it's probs the issue for you

    Thanks - helpful and nicely explained.
    But a quick FYI - I found the repeated 'and etcetera' strange and irritating. It's just 'etcetera'. Etcetera means 'and so on' or 'and other things', so 'and etcetera' is equivalent to 'and and....'
    Also FYI - the numbered links in the description are broken.

    I see why this course is free. If learning Solidworks and it's backwards way of doing everything isn't enough to make you want to set yourself on fire, then the voice on this tutorial will. I just needed to find where damn extrusion tool was hiding! I wasn't prepared to be waterboarded with pointless bullshit.

    I cant get the sweep to work, when I try to select profile and path, nothing happens

    • @with-Aryan
      @with-Aryan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      because you have drawn the profile and the sweep in one sketch. Or your profile is too large for your path

    • @ohertzs
      @ohertzs 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @SolidWorksTutorials With Aryan nah it wasn't that, I followed the instructions well. I figured it out though. While drawing the path you said to break the first line before going up on an angle. This doesn't work and the path must be drawn without resetting the line tool.
      Also some feedback: the video is choppy when you select the circle edges for the convert entity step, some info on selecting the edge would be nice as I struggled to not select the face of the sphere. I dont even remember how I got it to select the silhouette edge 🤷‍♂️ cheers!

    Why can you only move a sketch by its x/y and not Z up/down?

    • @with-Aryan
      @with-Aryan  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      a sketch is 2D and only moves on one plane unless you move it's plane i.e. the Z direction you are talking about. But that's an intermediate level (already in my course) and above the level I covered in this particular video
