Great video ❤️💪 One that i really like is once you get out and have the whizer... Step arround and away while dropping... In sumo is called kotenage... I landed it once in bjj against a higher belt(me a white belt with previous experience in other arts... Him a white belt with 2 stripes who is also a cop) couldnt mske it work twice, but he was really surprised to fall face first to the ground with a smaller, lower rank using a "sumo throw" on him xD
I know this video was made with a grappler and competition rules in mind. But in a rule-free situtation in a position like 0:19 if instead of grappling, you punched with a uppercut or hit with the elbow downways, would the other dude easily bring him down or can you land effective hits? Also, great video by the way. If you were wearing gi you could easily transition to a triangle chokehold
That @benefactorBR ws my thought!!! I spent about 17 years in karate especially American Kickboxing. Wrestling a tough sport (especially the training) I was on our high school team for about eight weeks and sadly, for me I quit. There was so much to learn. I am now watching so many of these wresting videos and I appreciate them. My question, I was watching Iron Mike from about 85 to 88 and yea I get it: he was a freak one of a kind. My thinking was if you the top college wrestler in the whole world- put him in the ring with Tyson (with that nasty right uppercut) or even that left hook while the world champ college wrestler goes for a single or a double it very, very hard to believe a Tyson or a back in the day Tommy Hit Man Hearns, Duran, Lenord, Hagler doesn't take the worlds greatest wrestler out. I have no monopoly, so like to hear your thoughts?
@@saer1212 I think, for a person who is a striker, if you can't avoid being taken to the ground through sprawling it's better to land a few hits before falling so the grappler is rocked and it's easier to stand up again. Also, in a rule-free situation grappling is a dangerous because you can easily grab the other person's balls or hit a spear-hand strike to the throat. Thing is being a grappler with 0 knowledge of striking or a striker with 0 knowledge of grappling always makes your main fighting style nearly useless.
I am by no mans a pro but I train mma and in sparring when someones tales my leg like that your balance becomes very delicate. No matter the wrestling degree if that person took a single leg on you he is in a dominant position and your balance is compromised. First of all if the leg is up you don't have the base to make any hard hits. Without the power of the legs your hits will only be powered by your arms and will not have any power in them and throwing a punch or an elbow will take you furthwr off balance.
@@MattKirzner I’m not sure if that’s the best idea. If you got power in your hands. Then yeah you could knock them out. But just recently Micheal bisping commented on the Darren till loss to derek Brunson. And bisping said. Till should of been protecting himself from the take down. Tryna create space. And getting him off. But instead till was punching him. As he was being taken down. I recommend get them off you first. But i still sometime make the mistake in sparring grappling. I’ll wait around to much
Another question, if I shoot in for a single with my head past his body (and not in front) AND I don't grab so high near his upper thigh but grab just right above where the knees folds with those two elemente can you explain what would occur, please?
Shit i’m definitely going to remember this. Tuesday I got into a random fight. And after I kneed the guy in his stomach he grabbed a hold onto my leg. I didn't really know what to do so I just took him in a kind of bulldog headchoke. And when I fell down he was still in the choke so he faceplanted. BUT he then was on top of me. Not knowing his advantage he quickly got up. But because I was on my back, it took longer for me to get up. Because I kept an eye on him, I saw he wanted to soccer kick my head. So I was just quick enough to roll under the kick. Luckily I trained muay Thai and boxing, so I did leave him with a black eye before it got to the knee in the stomach. But man, muay Thai and boxing is all fun and games untill it turns into grappling in the streets.
My guess would be get guillotine grip and shoot your hips out and sprawl. If you can't get loose get low. It will make to takedown much harder for the other guy. Either that or roll to the side with an outside leg sweep and take half mount. Just my view on it tho, i may or may not be correct
I dunno... anyone who comes to me n tries to grab my legs usually causes me to rip his ears off , or rake his eyes , or elbowing/punch his temple or breaking his nose.... Is it effective?
Your response is a gamble and especially against a good grappler who needs only two to three seconds to take you down with a single He's going to have his head low and to your inside so your leverage is not so great, plus if he manages to take your leg your balance is off so is your power as you have weak base everyone thinks he or she will punch and do this and that, sure, while you have distance but if he changes levels on you during punching exchange and you aren't fast enough to stuff the head, you must change levels too because of centre of gravity, if you can't avoid the grapple through framework then he will take your leg and then hitting is not effective while balance is compromised just not a smart tactic, regain balance then attack because even a finger to eye is futile if it lasts more than a few seconds especially if he has buried his head while shoulder is down Into your knee he is covered
I've found huge success when incorporating striking into my normal grappling moves. It's far more energy efficient in breaking posture, especially during takedown defense.
"I don't come inside"... "I come deep" 10/10 solid advice
Great detailed instruction. You also gave a good indication of what the actual SPEED and force needed for these maneuvers are. Great video.
this is technically "ONE" defense...with 2 added offensive moves...

Excellent! Single legs takedowns can be super annoying when u r beginner.. this is gonna be super helpful, thanks a ton! Subbed! 👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻
I was at tiger in 2010 back when Ray Elbe was the head bjj guy, glad to see how much this gym has grown since.
This one of the best things I have seen in a long time.
The sag detail on the inside trip was very helpful 👌 super important details. Excellent video
Haha, appreciated the "khrap pohm" at the end. 👍😁 Great instruction.
Interesting haven't seen it shown quite like this excited to try it
Will this work against khabib?
hell no
Nice try Conor
@@ObeyRoastMan hahahahahahah 😂😂
If you are Cormier
Definitely

"... Lower my level."
Easier said than done.
Thanks for lessons
I’ve always plucked from the outside . I’ll need to try the tricep outside style
1st move 0:05
2nd move 1:04
3rd move 1:51
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
Our pleasure!
This is perfect.
Last one looks like a lot of a judo move... my favorite one
Last one is O-uchi Gari.
Previous one is Tani-Otoshi.
So yes, they ARE Judo moves.

Now everyone wants to show Conor how to grapple properly.
Jo we need to elevate our Geriatrics game to defend against Connors assaults on the elderly.

What will occur is that his move will completely fail :(

Good video!
But what happens when they grab you calf instead of above the knee?
I would think you’d want to pull in and get your leg down so they are at knee then do this. I have no idea thho
khabib : wassup guys
Smac wrestling tournament in 2 days. Wish me luck.
what did you do ?
ali bellamine it was double elimination.
Loss-Win-Loss . I’ll comeback harder next year. If the virus don’t fuck it up.
Subbing
I WANNA TRAIN DO BAD!!! GYMS OPEN!!
On a Muay Thai stage, wearing boxing shoes and teaching wrestling.
On MMA mats, wearing wrestling shoes, teaching wrestling for MMA ;)
Can you do it in quick version and with the opponent resisting? Thats the only test for any tactic, man.

conor needed this in his tool box - sat night
When a good wrestler shoots, you have exactly 1 second till you're down. Good luck doing all this.
Excellent technique. BTW...that's a crappy single leg takedown. Knee or bottom of foot in the crotch immediately upon landing. It's happened to me.

If you did more than 3 months of wrestling then im mickey mouse
