1: When buying a new suit, make it less tight by wetting it a couple times, preferably when you are in it. 2. Use body glide. 3. Use two plastic bags on your feet when putting the suit on. 4. Use baby oil. 5. If you tend to get chilly, use an insulated thermos with warm water and put it down your wetsuit. 6. When you dry the wetsuit flip it inside out. 7. When storaging it, keep it away from the sun, keep it dry and flip it frequently. My brain got a tad confused with all the other info integrated in this video. So here you are!
AWESOME. I've been swimming at bird's hill evey wednesday & Sunday for the past 3 weeks and it's soooo nice. My wife and I moved to the north side of the city specifically to have easy access to the park :)
If you are going to use baby oil put a plastic bag on your hand and use like a glove to prevent getting the oil over your hand. Its not great for the neoprene but it does make it easier to take the suit off.
Dude--- I am new to triathalon (almost got Roka but Xterra was on sale)..and it took me 25 minutes to mostly get it on! I was a sweaty mess. I couldn't even swim because I was exhausted from putting it on !! HAHAHA The plan was to swim in an outdoor pool. Using the bags were mostly good, but man was I sweaty.
I guess if you put it on a coat hanger with WIDE shoulders ( not a thin wire hanger) then you don’t need to have the bother with remembering to ‘flip’ your drying suit . Always ask a lazy person how to do something , they will know ( or think of) the easiest way . ( you can then decide if it’s the best way or not )
Another Tip: When you are done swimming, I put the wetsuit in my washer inside out and put in on cold water and hand wash for a very short cycle. I don't use any detergent, just water with a bit of baking soda. Then put it on a wide hanger out of the sun in my garage to thoroughly dry before storing it. Gets it fully clean by removing and containments you might have picked up while swimming.
I'll save you some time... ... To make a new wetsuit 'ready', shower the wetsuit a few times... So, shower it, let it dry... (how to dry it, see below...) Shower it agian, let it dry again... After a few times... try it on (you being DRY and the wetsuit being DRY...)... Take a shower wit it and move around a bit... Let it dry after your 'trying it on session'. ... Putting it on before your going in the water to swim or surf: Take of your (damn) watch and all other stuff... Put plastic shopping bags over your feet and the legs will go in pretty easy... Pull the leg-favric up high enough and then work your way up bit by bit... You can put some baby oil on your wrists (wich is bad for the environment and all water-life)... ... and some 'slippery' stuff ('body glide' or so) on the areas that move a lot, like neck and armpit-area... ... To let it dry: dry your wetsuit after using it, turned inside-out... Let it dry out of the sun... If you let it dry over a bar or something, flip it over after a day... When, after a(nother) day, it is dry, turn it back to inside-in... So, like it would normally be...
Just use a shorter plastic bags on your wrists( why change what you do for your ankles ) Just take scissors and cut a bag to length , instead of baby oil .
Another tip from flip:
Pee in your suit to get/stay warm. And! If you fart during your swim it makes you float better ;)

I haven't purchased/used a wetsuit yet, so I'll definitely keep all of this in mind for the coming fall/winter. Thanks for the tips!
I'm looking to start swimming again soon and I'll for sure need a wetsuit. Thanks for the tips because I haven't worn a wetsuit in years.

What do you do with wetsuit at T1? Just leave it on the ground where your bike was? Or what?

Thanks i just got a wetsuit this is perfect! Keep making videos!
Babyoil works pretty good if you use it on the inside off you're wetsuit (wrists and ankles) and NOT on you're hands 😉. I use it every race!
I use plastic bag on ankles on wrists not needed to try baby oil , bags work and cost nothing and don’t smell 😂

Are you supposed to put a little water in between the suit or should it always be dry
Is it okay to get baby lotion on the outside of the wetsuit? It won't leave any kind of stains right?

What does the baking soda do?
Thanx
I'm using plastic bags for my hands too. No oil.
Taren, what size do you use in Roka wetsuits?
I'll save you some time...

hydrostatic pressure is the magic for veines
how u avoid not rip the whole suit? I have like 2000 scars
I have a box of cheap plastic gloves and always put my wetsuit on with the gloves on to keep my nails from piercing the exterior layer.
I thought baby oil was a petroleum based oil and it will void the warranty on your wetsuit. Better to use a vegetable based oil, like Pam.
nice
A "Natural Man-Made Lake"... you taking too many of those post-op pills my man?!
And TIP: use special neopreen shampoo!
You have body glide yet you use baby oil even though you know it's not good for the water.
Oh and it may even rot your suit too.
I like ROKA .. Amnot andesten order roka weitsuit .... Plishelp my bro . Am frome indonesia
