Neil, I was very shocked to hear that some of your customers don't pay their bills and/or just abandon their cars at your facility. A 50% deposit upfront should hopefully minimise this bad habit in future. The unit looks more organised now & should make your things more efficient for you. Looking forward to the Boxster bodywork repairs in the next update. Keep up the great work! 👍👍
Nice to see your garage being set up how you want it. How terrible that people can't just pay what they owe instead of running away like cowards. I hope you make the most out of those cars and they end up with decent owners
Very nice to see you clear the garage up.Wish you all all the luck with those abundant cars. When prices start to add up people just pass on the buck , it s plain and simple.Still hard too take honesty seems a bygone word nowadays.
When I worked in the motor industry a fairly senior exec said to us." Remember that one of the rogues in our industry is the general public ". My son works in an opticians and nearly every week somebody comes in telling porkies and tries to get glasses for free. You give people a fair chance to pay what they owe, or make you an offer, then issue proceedings or get the debt collectors onto it. There are also too many dreamers who think that running a V6 Alfa is cheap and simply don't have the cash to keep it fettled. I'm not innocent myself, but my weakness is a small yacht otherwise known as " a hole in the water into which you pour money" . But I do pay all my bills.
Sad to hear of your issues Neil, such a shame people think they can walk all over you because you’re a nice fella, hopefully you can come out the right side of it by recouping the money from the cars or getting the customers to pay up
What a load of toasters, you definitely don't need customers like this Neil, one their leaving you with bills and two it doesn't look good when honest potential customers come to you for advice and repairs. The unit is starting to look much tidier, keep up with the excellent work matey.
Having those cars taking up valuable space must be a real pain. The 155 is still such a strikingly good looking car, I always wanted one but having a 145 and a 166 I just don't have space for another.
If the cars that customers have abandoned at your place have no tax or other bits like MOT or insurance you can just roll them onto the road and report them as abandoned so that will free up space on your premises. When it comes to trying to get the money your owed from customers it is a tricky one because you can take them to court for money owed but you might be required to provide proof that they authorized the repair work.
Hi Neil. Thanks for the update. Have you ever thought about going into the part dismantling business for classic Alfa's and Fiat's rather than fixing them. Seems like you would make a lot more money this way!
Back in the early 90's when i was on the tools i got a mint Vauxhall Carton for free, customer had put it into the garage for a head gasket, they found a crack in the head, new head from Vauxhall was on back order, weeks turned into months, months turned into three years, the guy bought another car and FORGOT he owned it, i got a head from the scrappy, plonked it on and ran the car for years.
I am interested in the yellow Punto GT, specifically in the English parts: right driver's seat, especially the guide to raise and lower the seat with all the necessary plastics, possibly I can buy the whole seat; mileage speedometer; complete driver and passenger side door panels. Having the chance I would buy the 147 GTA, too bad to see it that way.
@@ItaliaAutos Ok, I understood that the yellow GT was going to be scrapped soon, so I asked for the parts I was interested in, before they were scrapped. And if the parts are needed for the orange one, better, but the seat guide with the relative plastics is enough for me to raise and lower the seat, even from the orange one, I'm not interested in the seat or its wear. I will wait for news later. Thank you.
What a pain! Hopefully the legalities don't turn out to be too difficult. Maybe it's at the stage where you get need to get some legal documents written up which customers need to sign when they drop off their cars, just to cover yourself in future and make getting rid of them easier if the customers don't come back.
I’ve swapped the GTA display to a facelift as well. Believe or not the display sits in a box which not only the box but also the display is the same size as the pre-facelift one. Although the screen is electronically cut off to use only 2/3 of the surface area. So if you are in an oem look of the dashboard. You may only swap the internals.
I would not take on any major recommissioning/rebuilding work for a new customer without a hefty deposit to show intent - thats what others seem to do. Great video!
Would’ve thought you could sell the GTV rather than scrap. The GTA sure you’ve checked already but had what looked like an ECU fault mine, couldn’t communicate with it, dashboard like a Xmas tree, non-starter. Ended up being the fuse in the battery terminal box.
It sure is a pain in the ass for you Neal. I just went through the very expensive cost of replacing the engine in my E90 BMW 323i. It cost me a tad over $10K but to me it was worth doing as the alternative was to scrap it and hopefully get a few hundred. I still need to get some paintwork done on the car to make it nice once again. I guess though in the end I must be the odd one out. So many of the cars that have been abandoned at your shop are worth decent money out in here in Oz, unlike I assume in the UK. Good luck in sorting out all of this.
Maybe need some employees? Or at least one? And it's also best to not start more than one project car for yourself. It's hard to do but if you don't have the time you barely get anything finished. I wouldn't start anything new before the Porsche and the Punto aren't complete. Cleaning up is always a good way to get your mind free as well! Goog luck for 2023!
Hi Neil, What a pity you're way out of my area Australia as a couple of those would find homes here with no issues. Cost to freight makes it hard to justify, especially our exchange rates as well! As for customers not paying, I believe here in Oz, after 30 days of trying to get customers to pay, the business owner can sell off the goods to recoup costs. I could be wrong, but, geez, 12 months without paying would hurt the hip.pocket. Good luck 👍
Its a shame I'm in NZ, otherwise the GTV or the GTA would be interesting. I think the shipping costs would negate any 'bargain' price, not that I think I'd be able to get one anyway as there seems to be interest for both. 🙂 Best wishes from NZ.
I'll never understand people leaving their cars at the mechanic. Like, why? Do you have all the cars that you can just abandon? Best of luck to you Neil!
Mental , can’t believe so many customers have abandoned cars like that . I guess it’s a sign of the times. Even still they should at least come forward and let you know what the crack is 😕
If you end up owning either the GTA or GTV would you sell them if so how much for? If it not will you be saving the tan interior from the GTV because I'd be interested in it!
I don't know neal giving us alfa owners a bad name !! Seems you have to get a good deposit to even think about working on customer cars from now on, hopefully you'll get your money back & more on selling those abandoned cars, can never imagine abandoning my lovely 159, all the best.
So sad to hear of your, unreliable customers. I was stunned recently when I saw a video about people….not paying….a tradesman. The only thing, I could suggest, is obtain a deposit before work starts, in some cases. It might lead to….’oh…errr….ummmmm’ 😳
Can't believe people think it's ok to just abandon cars at someone's business , a few of them look like they could be really nice with some tlc aswell, to me a month is more than enough time to get in touch with you and make a decision, unfortunately I predict when you take legal ownership they will start to come out of the woodwork and cause problems, stick to your guns mate and get rid but keep the gta and the spider! They will make some good repair videos.
Unbelievable what customers are doing there. Unfortunately these cars are all LHD vehicle’s because I would be interested in the 147GTA or the Brera. Hope you will get the money and or the right to sell them. I am not aware about British law, but guess it is not easy to get the rights to sell them.
On cars that you're not chasing money for, you are well within your rights to move them out and park them on the street. Report the car abandoned, and your council will remove and scrap at no charge to you. You're not the registered owner, and cars are parked on private property. The council will deal with police and legalities at no cost to you. Angers me to hear this. Unfortunately, some people lack integrity. I truly hope these people pay their bills and collect their cars after this video. Best of luck.
Some nice cars youve been lumbered with there but im sure youve got lien over thrm due to unpaid bills and after all those months with no contact thinl you are well within your rights to sell them to recover some mo nies owed.

mate, what a pain in the jacksey. please do a video on the legality/where you stand. would make for an interesting video for sure.
I'm sure I'll do an updated
A lot of courage to you!
So sad that the stearing wheels are on the wrong side… I’d love a GTV :)
Nice to see your garage being set up how you want it. How terrible that people can't just pay what they owe instead of running away like cowards. I hope you make the most out of those cars and they end up with decent owners
I'm sorry to hear all this. Hopefully you'll fix this situation soon. Wish you the best from Italy.
Cheers. There all going to get sold.

A clean was needed.

Don't worry I won't be out of pocket in the end.
Am really looking forward to seeing how the 155 turns out - not many good ones left.

I'll have them sold before the end of the summer

yeah really anoying
Disconnect the throttle body in GTA, and then try to start. If starts (without pedal reaction of course), I can repair this damaged ECU then.

My local garage I use has the same problem, with abandoned cars!! They just claim them and sell them on! But very frustrating.

Terrible not to pay bills, especially to an independent
Very much so

GTV V6 left abandoned looks quite nice!
It was green

I’m interested in the 155 - got an ETA on when you’ll be finished with her? Might be easier if I just give you a bell. Cheers.
Might need a video on that 147 GTA if you can sell them
155. Please. Yes. Bought a GTA saloon Dec 156. What does the 155 need outside of bodywork metalwork to be a runner. Cheers.
Thats terrible. Good update. The garage is coming along nicely
Верю в Вас. все получится успешно я уверен
Why the GTV is going to be scrapped and rest of the cars sold?
What were the rims on that red 156 outside ?
What happened to your blue 145?
Sold last year. New owner loves it. Should be back in for an mot soon
@@ItaliaAutos nice!

What's the spec on that white Brera?
2.4 leather seats. Think its a facelift
Would be interested in the 155 .
