  • Rev. Lee Stoneking Quotes: "You don't want to fall into this trap. This, I have to warn you, don't, in your mind, say, "Well, they're righteous" or "he's righteous" or "she's righteous." You don't know that. Only God will know that. And the Bible says, "If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the sinner and the ungodly appear?" We've got to get everyone we can filled with the Holy Ghost and baptized in Jesus' name. Amen, amen."

The truth of the matter acts 2:38 is the only way for salvation

You should study the history of your own movement. The first general superintendent of the UPS, Brother, Howard Goss, hope Siri spelled, that, right, believed that salvation, at least, had begun at repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. S. G. Norris taught the light doctrine and so did Bishop. T. Haywood and mini mini others coming from both the PCI as well as the PAJC. There are different takes on acts 2:38. I believe what he is saying is pretty biblical. In Romans four, we learned that Abraham was reckoned righteous apart from circumcision. When he understood the need for circumcision, he certainly was, but he was reckoned righteous beforehand. Last you want to say that that was a different dispensation and that that doesn’t apply to us now, in Romans four versus 24:25 Paul shows us that it was not reckoned to Abraham only, but for all those who believe on the Lord Jesus, who was delivered for our fences, and who was raised again for our justification. In chapter 5, verse one, shows us that having been justified by faith, and this is apart from circumcision or anything else, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom, also we have access by faith into this grace, where in we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. In chapter 6 of the same epistle, baptism in Jesus name comes up. In Colossians, two versus 11 and following, Paul Lykins, water baptism to New Testament circumcision. It is not unimportant. I do not believe that anyone who refuses to be baptized, when after they are illuminated by the spirit concerning it Will be in a good place with God. But Abraham was reckon righteous before circumcision and so are we in the new covenant because Paul says so. If one refused to be circumcised or rather was not circumcised, they were cut off from Israel and Moses child was nearly killed by the angel of the Lord because, circumcision had not happened. So I do not believe that baptism in Jesus name is a light thing, but neither do I believe that everyone who doesn’t understand it is going to hell. Jesus Christ is the only way of salvation and anyone who is saved is saved by the work of Christ. 2:38 is not the gospel, one Corinthians 15 versus 3:4 is. Act 2:38 is the way that we should respond to the gospel when it is shown to us. But a lot of apostolic nowadays seem to believe that repentance and faith mean absolutely nothing and that is not the case. I do not even believe that you can receive the Holy Ghost apart from being a child of God, Luke 11, versus 11:13, Galatians 4:3, John 15:3. If one refuses the full act 2:38 message when once they are shown it by the Holy Ghost, I definitely would have concerns because even though they may be forgiven, they need to be washed, act 22:16, which is what I believe that remission of sins is. I believe that a distinction between justification and regeneration is in order, and when we understand that they are not necessarily always synonymous, it would be helpful. Notice that Jesus says in March 16:16, that he believes and his baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe will be damned, or condemned. So we see that condemnation is not on the unbaptized, but on the unbeliever, but if one refuses to be baptized And will not repent, we have no evidence of there, being a believer for baptism in Jesus name is a seal of repentance and faith. And Luke 7:30 the Bible tells us that the religious leaders went against the council of God, being not baptized of Jesus. They rejected the wheel of God, which was baptism at that time, which, in my mind does away with the whole dispensational understanding of salvation Fully and completely. They were doing baptisms before the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and Jesus seemed to have been baptizing, at least to some degree, Luke 7:30, John 3:22. But in Luke 23, the thief on the cross was saved, and went to Paradise. I do not believe that this is because God had more mercy back then than he does now. Neither do I believe that he was saved because of a dispensational allowance, but because of his repentant contrite heart expressed in faith, petitioning the Lord Jesus, for forgiveness. He was not baptized because he could not be baptized. It’s his easiest pie. The Lord knows if you can’t/don’t have the understanding/opportunity, or whatever the case may be, but if you truly do and you stubbornly refuse, then you refuse to be identified with him, Roman six.
Another problem is that we put salvation in a momentary experience, and that is not true. Salvation is a walk and not just a step. Repentance and faith, save baptism. In Jesus name saves, the infilling of the Holy Ghost saves, a life of Holiness saves. It is all part of the saving process, and not just one step or a set of certain steps. Yes, act 2:38 gives us our full Hebrew six foundation, and we want our foundation to be secure, which is why I teach the essentiality of act 2:38, because God wants us to have the whole package. Repentance, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, baptism in his name, and receiving his spirit are like four tires. it might be possible to get by with like three tires, but why would you want to try? It’s so difficult. Why not get all that you need but that is not to say that the Lord does not have mercy and grace toward those who do not have all of the understanding that we do. We do not understand everything. We do not have the truth. We have a truth, and if we would present things in that way, I believe there would be so much more of a harvest. When we deny peoples experiences with the Lord, they’re not going to receive our testimony or our message for the most part.

@@ryandawson2877 funny you wrote this sir… I do believe the thief made it under OT law because where there is a testimony there must be the death of a testator, and Jesus hadn’t died yet, but everything else you said I actually believe and actually feel like I’ve seen proof of it myself. I’ve seen God use and fill people with the Holy Ghost who don’t understand baptism in Jesus’ name, and I’ve seen Him fill someone on their death bed when they repented but had no time to be baptized in water. John 3:3-5 does say we must be born of the water and Spirit, and therefore how I try to reconcile this is, I believe God can baptize someone in water on the other side if need be. Bottom line is well put and I am in agreement with you brother.
