About 8 years ago, I bought a Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer sticker rookie graded PSA 8 for $140. Lol Best investment ever. I should have went "Serb Gorilla" and bout 20 of them.
Hold up. Mistake here. Panini wasn’t in the American market until the late 2000’s. Leaf/Donruss should have been the third company mentioned if you want to talk 80’s and 90’s collecting.

Cards in the 80s and 90s weren't "overproduced", they were overinvested in. People bought them. Many bought them thinking that if they stored them sealed in a closet for 30 years, they'd age like wine, just like cards from the 50s and 60s did. We only discovered they were "overproduced" years after a lot of collectors left because the hobby had gotten too expensive and too complicated and everyone opened their closets and tried to cash in. Then they went to the one remaining card shop left or eBay and discovered the cold reality of things. And yes, that behavior is repeating itself because a lot of the folks getting in now were somewhere between their mother's ovary and kindergarten when the last exodus happened. The optics are different this time, but the ending will be the same, and like last time, everyone who gets burnt will point fingers at everything but a mirror.

Sports cards are a wonderful collectable if your a sports fan. I’ve been buying packs on and off since 1969 and have a closet full of cards…I even got some in a cigar box! But I love it!
Kids don't buy sports cards!!! Where did you get that idea??? Except for video games, it's Yugioh, Magic the Gathering, and Pokemon the kids are into. This market for sports cards is all adult driven. And don't think shop are getting rich!! They live on razor thin margins!
Our generation watches sports talks about sports gamble on sports so why not have a piece of your favourite players and go on the journey with them I'm 35 years old I don't own artwork but I own sports and that is my artwork and a good investment
The first time I won an auction on eBay for a case break of autographed NFL mini helmets I actually won with the Vikings Joseph Randall I only spent $23 to be the winning bidder on the Vikings I just picked a team Lucked out and won sold the helmet for $85 on eBay after I received it
I have some Kobe Bryant cards before he died ppl told me my collection wasn’t worth more then maybe some cards $6 $5 each some less after he died ppl ask me for the cards they offer me like $25 bucks for one card I need to take my cards to get check and see what there value is

I have noticed Ebay price listings going up. I stick to buying sealed boxes and packs. I wish Topps was still making football cards.
