Also if they had been pushed back that far they would have lost access to the supplies they had been getting from the allies via Iran.

I never understood why they didn't use Siberian divisions in Finland, instead they used Ukrainian ones who don't know how to fight in such an area.

As well as the fact that... well Soviet Union wouldn't surrender until every inch up until Vladivostok was conquered, so it'd be an eternal war, of one of most populous countries in the world against a (in comparison) small Germany.

1. the german encirclment would be wide and this meant that a svoeit counter attack would be pushed back 50-100 miles ftrom moscow
2. all railroads in european russia converged on moscow meaning the soviet dont have the abilty to move theyre armies quickly anymore. and this could also ease the german supply situation as a logistical point
3. a lot of airfields were in and around moscow so if the german take these after the enicrclement is complete, means that the luftwaffe would have better airfields as a lot of previously used airfields were just crude mud constucts which increased the risk of accidents
the moscow region has the critical electrical stations that feed power to the evacuated factories behing the urals meaning if the german capture these, soviet industry could be stalled for a year this would be a critical blow to the soviets
just hypothecially of course,
but what if the germans created a indepth defense in the caucuses, and the sovets failed to breakthrough to the caucuses, if the germans were able to take all of the caucueses they would deprive the soviets 86% of theyre oil and gain a long term supply of it themselves
if this happend then i believe that the war could be won, but i cant explain this because it would take an entire essay to explain
