That's incredible. Awsome setup. Steve started this 2.5 Suzuki outboard worldwide. I have my 12ft tempest 120 pdl. Now with the outrigger and 2.5 Suzuki. My baby"s a blue missile to all my spots..
Such a great Idea, I'm stealing it. As A Special Operations Vet with a missing lower left leg. When I had to get back in on windy days, peddling was hard for me. Now you have made it easier. Thanks Bro.
thank u bro yes I have the plug but forgot to bring it,I took the mirage drive out but I get a lot off water from the hole the plug shoukd do the trick :) now I can go with u lol
Dude, you started a firestorm of sales for Expandacraft outriggers! The latest craze is a 12 footer on Hobie Pro Anglers. Have you seen my latest videos on that?
Nick, Triolo The Barefoot Fisherman well I can tell you I don't have the strength to do it lol, Im working on a new set up is going to be much nicer but very pricey compare to this one about $1000 I will sell this set up cheap :)
I thought of doing that, but wasn't sure if would work out. How about adding another pontoon on the other side for looks and stability? Can you post how you added that pontoon?
Rickys Fishing Adventures I have it’s sick I’ve got a pa 14 also just wanted to make sure about the length of the shaft I need to order so short shaft it is
+Rickys kayak yea..that's fast enough for test day. n it's already fast enough for most of the fishing that we do. imagine all the trolling that we can do!!! waaaahooooo!
Romero Harris I will be getting a yak soon, really soon, and I also live in national city area and need a buddy to go out with, mainly because I have great whites
I'm curious as to what top cruising speed you can get out of your version of Key West Kayak Fishing's boat design. The PA is a heavier boat than Steve's Hobie Adventure. Not of alot of those longer, lighter Adventures in my neck of the woods, so I'd like to know how a wider, heavier kayak will perform with that same 2.5 Suzuki. Nice work, BTW.
Bla, I did this with a home-made pontoon I got from someone else, but it wasn't buoyant enough for the motor. That expandacraft pontoon looks the business! Have you had any trouble in waves? One of the things I was warned about with a pontoon is that it give "leverage" to the waves. So if a waves comes from the side and lifts the pontoon, your kayak is going to rock a lot more than without the pontoon. Thanks for sharing anyway.
Hi Ricky, is the bracket hanging off the stern a DIY or commercial . I have the PA14 and looking to hang a small outboard too. Thanking you in advance..... Felix
felix is not really hanging is hard to explain I will make a video to show how Is made is not comercial I found a welder here in miami that did it for me I just told him how I want it and he did it!
Hey Ricky, I plan on installing a Honda 2.3 on my PA14 side mount it the same way you have done but without the expandacraft, i plan to balance it out with a 15kg battery/weight on the opposite side. Would you recommend a 15" short shaft or 20" long shaft? I am inclined towards the long 20" Shaft... You thoughts please
Ashley Kenneth hey bud , you want the 15" short shaft unless u making a very high bracket for the motor and I don't see why you would do that, also be aware that it can be done I done it with electric motors before but remember if u ever flip you will damage your motor and battery for sure, Im working on a new set up, well post a video soon !!!
Most helpful thank you, my bracket is the same height as yours, i am not looking for speed I just think with a longer shaft there will be less water turbulence.
Marlon Knighton that video is very old actually I was testing it that day I do have it now days, I had it for over a year without never had a problem I got stop by FWC and Marine patrol few time !0
I like it Ricky, looks good n nice n quite too. I use Scottys Outriggers snap release n love them. But I do have to add air which kinda pisses me off at times. I installed a Torqeedo n Boonedox n Mantis n needed extra support cuz I want to fish alone n not go swimming. lol. We're in our mid 60s so our balance isn't as good n were fat too. 🙈. I am so ashame of being fat, I never thought I'd ever gain lbs but it happens once your love drive is gone. Taking pain meds since 30 took care of that IMHO n my teeth all been pulled n implants. Be careful out there Ricky, I wish I had a set up like yours. I am adding reverse to my pa14 finally found a dealer who will sell me a couple to upgrade. I'd have to look again who.
Ty Clark I want the new mirage drive they have reverse, life is not easy I was 130lbs almost all my life now I'm 200lbs and can't loose weight and I have try, the set up on this video its actually my old set up check out on my videos my new set up much lighter and easy to assembled !
Thank you for your response. I saw others using the Mirage Adventure Island with outboard motor. Is there a big difference using outriggers for the PA14? How about the fishing space?
Ricky, awesome job on the kayak. I too live in a small place and can't have a boat. Living in Miami without a boat (especially if your a fisherman) is pure torture. I just got off the phone with Wesley of Expandacraft before I saw your video. I plan to order an eight foot outrigger for my Ascend. I already have the outboard, just need the outrigger and the appropriate rigging (aluminum work). Quick question, who did your aluminum work. I would like a very similar set-up to yours, Did Wesley do that for you or is there a guy in Miami that does that work? Thanks and again, amazing job on the kayak.
Peter Melton A local guy from miami did it but he say first and last to much work lol,its not really that much work but whatever u know how people are sometimes thank u!
Great news! I plan on ordering the outrigger today. Where do you fish out off Dania or somewhere in Miami Beach. Maybe we can meet up and go out fishing. I prefer to go ocean fishing in groups for safety. Still looking for a guy that can do that aluminum work for me but I am getting close.
Peter Melton danis most of the time and hell yeah wen u get it done let me know and we go out I need more kayak motor fishermans :) look for me on FB Ricardo palmero!
Love this set up with only one pontoon and considering a similar set up. What I would love to know is how well it handles without the motor. Is it hard to peddle and stay in a straight line since there is weight and drag on only one side?
Hi tom, peddle no problem paddle a bit hard but doable it goes on a stray line niw better than before turns very well to,if I have to do it again I woukd do the same set up love it!!thanks
Thanks! I will probably get the kayak and then head to Tampa to get the expandacraft parts that I want (3 maybe 4 sections w/ 2 wide 8' decking for 16' Hobie Revolution. *swim deck with ladder and passenger seating...

Bruno Oliveira thank you Bruno, there is not much more just the outrigger and 2 aluminum bars and a small motor it takes me about 15 minutes to get it all together ,I live on a apartment so no space for a boat I got a work van for the yak and to drive to work,I can still lunch anywhere and with 1 gallon of gas I can troll all day!
I know I asked if you could use just the rudder "most" of the time. I am finally going to get my PA 14 in the water, but think I am going to regret getting such a big and heavy kayak. Those boondocks wheel systems look helpful, but $250 is a bit much for wheels.

You very welcome buddy im glad that this little video help :) if u have any question just ask thank u!!!
Thank you.
That's awesome Ricky. Love the new set-up. Leave the mirage drive out and put in the plug and it will give you 1 mph just from the reduced drag.
thank u bro yes I have the plug but forgot to bring it,I took the mirage drive out but I get a lot off water from the hole the plug shoukd do the trick :) now I can go with u lol
Where did you buy that long yellow outrigger??? Many thanks for link!!!
Hey brother nice rig question did you screw the bracket to the kayak or did you bolted it down? Also what screws or bolts did you use?
You look so happy! Amazing work!
the guariscos I was no more paddle or peddle 😊😊 thank you!
Is that bracket c133 stainless steal ?
Dude, you started a firestorm of sales for Expandacraft outriggers! The latest craze is a 12 footer on Hobie Pro Anglers. Have you seen my latest videos on that?
Im glad that the video help bud, no i haven't seen the video will check it out tomorrow going to bead now 💪💪💪👍
That is great. What is the shaft of your outboard?
Short
Nice brother. I'm going to do the same, I don't know if I have the strength in my legs to get my PA offshore
Nick, Triolo The Barefoot Fisherman well I can tell you I don't have the strength to do it lol, Im working on a new set up is going to be much nicer but very pricey compare to this one about $1000 I will sell this set up cheap :)
Rickys kayak hot me up on Messenger on Facebook and let me know about the new setup in very interested
Nick, Triolo The Barefoot Fisherman sure np, I will also post a video here on my channel, this will take a while I'm waiting on the parts from hobie!!
That outrigger and motor is a great addition.
thanks cajil I dont have space for a boat in my house so I had to invent something!
I thought of doing that, but wasn't sure if would work out. How about adding another pontoon on the other side for looks and stability? Can you post how you added that pontoon?
this was my first set up, thet new one is much better i have few videos about it here on my channel, 2 is overkill you don't need that much!
Hey Ricky nice rig sir question what length shaft is ur outboard
Thanks bud, Is the short shaft, that is my old rig btw, checkout the new rig here on youtube I have couple videos 💪👍
Rickys Fishing Adventures I have it’s sick I’ve got a pa 14 also just wanted to make sure about the length of the shaft I need to order so short shaft it is

Yes Ricky. I know who will start a kayak towing business. Lol. Nice job.
hahahhahajaj lol ,,thank u brother!
nice bro! the outrigger is working perfectly..looking forward to see the speed of it after breaking ur motor in!
thanks bro, soon I will be able to go faster but dont realky need to go much faster than today!
+Rickys kayak yea..that's fast enough for test day. n it's already fast enough for most of the fishing that we do. imagine all the trolling that we can do!!! waaaahooooo!

Hi Sir, I like your videos. Do you have a videos detailing how you installed the crossbar and how you transport the kayak. Is the crossbar removable?.

Hey Rick I'm looking to get the same set up as you only I'll be fishing of socal coast San Diego
Romero Harris you can go with this set up or look in to my channel my new set up its much better !

no problems at all buddy actualy is awesome with big waves u wont ever have to worry about landing or flipping good luck!
Hi again, just quick question as I'm about to cut my crossbar. How long is your crossbar end to end? Thank you
Nap Esteban sorry buddy I just saw this I know by now you already cut it :(

How do you get by without having to put boat registration "hull" numbers on the bow?

What is the real advantage of the PA14 over the 12? Is stability much better over the PA12 without the outriggers? Thank you.
amdomag there is a bit more stability but is more about the space really, thise 2 feet make a big difference.!
Thank you for your response. I saw others using the Mirage Adventure Island with outboard motor. Is there a big difference using outriggers for the PA14? How about the fishing space?
You do have the best job in the world! I wish we can switch jobs. :)
amdomag hmm Im a supeeviser on a window company, fishing is not my job lol
Hahahahaha.. Very nice videos! Please keep posting. It humbles me.
Do u have the 5' aluminum cross beams. I'm wanting to order and they have 5'.6' and 8'.
chewy BBN to be honest I font remember how long it was, that was my old set up here is what I have now .
th-cam.com/video/ltlAl2X45Lk/w-d-xo.html 👍👍
Is your motor mount bar easy to come off or is it fix to the yak? I just ordered the expandacraft pontoon. Should arrive soon.
khaihuynh11 it comes off very easy,it goes in between 2 L channels slides in and out easy!

Hi why did you go with the outrigger? Your rear mount looks great. Did the engine height make it unstable?
sorry that i took so long to reply I just saw this, if i ever flip i loose the motor that is why!
What shaft length is the outboard motor? 15" or 20"
sorry that i took so long to reply I just saw this, 15 but u can use 20 if u want to!

Hey Ricky really nice setup congrats. The motor you use is a 15'' or 20'' Transom Height?
Stanley Reco I have the suzuki 2.5 short shaft I think is 15",thank u!
Hey Ricky, I plan on installing a Honda 2.3 on my PA14 side mount it the same way you have done but without the expandacraft, i plan to balance it out with a 15kg battery/weight on the opposite side. Stanley Reco If you fish ocean n wave lakes go with 20". Otherwise 15" is good. I'd go 20" so I can go anywhere.
Hi Rick-
Where did u get the mounting plate for the expandable outrigger? Or is it something u made. Awesome rig!!
khaihuynh11 the plate from expadacraft they sell it for like $40 or something like that, thank u!
That's a two 4ft section pontoon ?
Love ur set up. I have the same motor.. will mount it to my PA14.
khaihuynh11 yes I have two sections Im very happy with this set up,thank u buddy!
hey ricky how do u travel with this? do u have a trailer?
No i have a cargo van, i removed the passenger seat and it fits live a glove 👍👍💪
What kind of bolts did you used for the back bracket?
khaihuynh11 its nothing big really just e 2-1/2 screw and bolt stainless still I beleive is #12

Rickys kayak, awesome! Thanks for the reply bro.
Bruno Oliveira np brother!
Do you think you can lock the motor in straight and just use the rudder for steering most of the time?
Okay, guess I just needed to watch more of the video and be less concerned with how you set it up. Any idea on overall cost?
Robert M thats hiw I do it unless I want to make a hard turn I use the motor to help!
Robert M but you would miss the reverse option and the close turns...
I know I asked if you could use just the rudder "most" of the time. I am finally going to get my PA 14 in the water, but think I am going to regret getting such a big and heavy kayak. Those boondocks wheel systems look helpful, but $250 is a bit much for wheels.
Robert M about 1000 !
what happens at full throttle?
Foxy rollins it goes faster lol
so its still sea worthy.. doesn't nose dive..
makes me wonder if a little electric is enough power/thrust
some one else with a TI was saying they only use 1/4 throttle.. didnt like full throttle..??
Foxy rollins yeah I had one before the problem is that u need a very large batt, and here in SF currents are no joke it will drain your batt fast that would be better for fresh water
do you think that an outrigger is 100% necessary for the motor?
i have a Johnson 2hp, was going to do a side mount with just the motor & a counter weight on the other side, but I was thinking about building an outrigger aswell
poop face no is not u can get away with out one but it wont be to safe remember if u flip say bye bye to your motor, also with the outrigger u will be able to stand and walk alover the kayak !
Rickys kayak also gives an opportunity to mount a casting deck.
Dylan Zrim lmao
Poop, you could always mount one in the back. Even with the counter weight you are messing with the balance and how things sit. So you would definitely be better off with the outrigger. I wouldn't want an outrigger due to the drag, but if I have a motor to compensate most of the time then why wouldn't you want the extra stability?
Hello Ricky, I will love to do the same thing to my PA. I am from Miami area. There is a way to contact you..
maxus302 add me and facebook Ricardo Palmero and I send u my #!
Not to be that guy but... legally you have to get it registered now. Just like any other power boat.
I know!
Now you can fill the hull up with fuel
lol
Dale bastante pedal acere estamos 2018 metele motor a eso mas duro para q vuele
duniel Juan hahahahaj estas de p bro!
So gay ..buy a boat man. waste of time and money.
Theodore Aniskoff lol I dont get mad of this stupid coments like yours normally I dont reply but Im going to show u the only gay here its you,I dont have space for a boat I live on a apparment and there is no way that I ca pay 300,400 for a marina, there is.many other reasong why I went with a gas motor that I wont waste my time telling u,if having a motor on a kayak its gay or waste if money there is a buch of gay people out there also almost every kayak co.oany its making motors for they kayaks but how can a very smart guy like u know that u just a super male lol bye princes!
Still gay! Maybe you should buy a house then!
Lol
You funny and if what u want to know if im single or something like that sorry got a girl and couple kids!
Then you definitely need to buy a house
