G'day from Melbourne Australia. I have got the exact same car like your 2003 model , I was just wondering what fuel you have been using because I have been using premium fuel lately and I have noticed much more torque power after about 400 km of driving the car. For some reason in the owners manual it says recommended to use 91 octane, 91 octane is American we don't have that, your 91 octane is 95 octane in Australia. I like your video about the transmission filter install
@@mickluke9228 thanks so much for reaching out all the way from Australia! I found a press release online from Wendy's cars were designed that the engineers allow the knock sensor to increase the ignition timing based on whatever gas you are using I have noticed the same thing when I run higher octane gas (sometimes non-ethanol) the car runs really really good. However lately with inflation the last couple years I have been running 87 octane E10, the cheap stuff. Thanks for checking out the videos 😁
Amazing video Mike! I recently bought an 04 Accord V6 with 133k miles and I’m curious if I should change the transmission fluid? however I’m not too sure if it’s ever changed.
Thank you so much! How does the fluid look on the dipstick? I would think a simple drain and fill would not do any harm and you could clean the magnet on the drain plug. Simple drain and fill transmission fluid changes are generally considered safe. Great car hope it lasts you a long long time!
Change AT fluid immediately. The fresh AT fluid in Hondas is the key for its long life. If it comes out too dirty like black or dark gray color, change 3 qts, run the car for 50-100 miles and change it again, and again if needed until it is bright red. And also change the filter that is in-line under the hood.
@@validsoul4497 so far so good.... by God's grace I am over 230 K on original engine and transmission I acquired the car at 191 k and began the process of switching over to the Amsoil synthetic lubricants. www.number1synthetic.com Prior to that it was well maintained by the one owner, sometimes at the dealer sometimes at a private mechanic. I definitely need to change the radiator as it is leaking and I just keep topping it off weekly.
With the ATF fluid I'm wondering if it's safe to do a drain a fill? It's on a 05 V6 Accord we just inherited. It has 189,000 and I don't believe the previous owners ever did the trans filter or drain and fill. Also can the Amsoil ATF be mixed with the existing Honda ATF? Thanks for the video
@@ryllyduc1198 I feel your uneasiness if the transmission has never been serviced... most will agree that a drain and fill is safe since you're only changing part of the fluid at a time. I looked up just to make sure that your 05 takes the same fluid and yes it looks like the Red Label Amsoil product code ATF... it is fully compatible with the Honda fluid but you would experience greater performance overtime if the fluid were completely switched out. You didn't say whether you have the J30 V6 or the other one, but looks like they call for all the same stuff: www.amsoil.com/lookup/auto-and-light-truck/2005/honda/accord/3-0l-6-cyl-engine-code-j30a4-5/?zo=1463115 Hope that helps. Glad you inherited such a great car and hopefully with a few drain and fills you can keep that transmission going
@@MikeTrullAmsoildealer Gotcha, over the course of 3-4 drain and fills it would likely improve and be just about all fresh. Of course I'd drive it for awhile between those services. I believe it is a J30 motor. We've been fixing typical oil leaks on it and getting it healthy to hopefully keep the ole girl around for awhile. Appreciate the response and info. When it's time to order I'll use your website sir.
An update would be greatly appreciated. Also are you saying with 189,000 miles the transmission has never been changed? Was it pitch black and did you notice any issues? Thank you.

@@nicholaspetre1whats the significance of changing the filter? For the V6 ATF filter?
How has your transmission been holding up? I have a 2004 accord ex v6 j30a4 and I just reached 200k and plan on doing this same procedure
