Beautiful music video. The cinematography and the expressions are well displayed by the cast for a newly married couple. But as a Bengali and Meitei mix, it hurts my sentiments to see people this extremely against mix traditions. Calling each other wansa and tribal won't fix anything. And I do agree, that the potrayal of culture and ethnic attire need to be preserved and propagated by the media more as Tripuri culture is beautiful and our pride. Constructive criticism should be provided. Not name calling as it demoralises the artists in question. If I decide to marry my beau wearing Meitei or Tripuri traditional wear, I wouldn't want people from the other side of my family and friends to come with sticks and stones crying why I decided on this. Even my sister in law, who is a Maharastrian got married in Bengali rituals. We are in a land of diversity. So, please lets respect each others culture and be civilised enough to provide constructive criticism. People's callousness and lack of empathy is showing up in the comments. ❤️

Many Tripurasa individuals may embrace certain aspects of Hinduism culture without fully realizing the potential impact on their own heritage. For instance, an example, many Tripurasa women continue to wear their traditional dresses in saree style, believing that it is their authentic dress, and take pride in it, considering it a modern traditional outfit. However, in Western countries, the "saree" is not typically seen as a smart or fashionable choice. Moreover, they may be subjected to mockery and ridicule by non-indigenous people due to the unfamiliarity of their dress compared to that of other northeastern states of India. This situation is a saddening reflection of the unawareness prevalent in the Tripurasa community regarding their own culture.Hence,knowing through this article,our Tripurasa young generation may not able to digest it.Perhaps they will still believe that what they are adopting is their original culture.
Preserving Tripurasa Culture
To preserve the richness and authenticity of Tripurasa culture, it is essential for the community to be conscious of the changes occurring and actively promote their unique heritage. Embracing cultural diversity is valuable, but not at the expense of one's own identity.
Education and awareness about Tripurasa history, traditions, and values are crucial in instilling a sense of pride and belonging among the people. Additionally, promoting gender equality and challenging patriarchal norms can help empower women and break free from the confines of "sanskarik bahu."
In the end, I would extend my opinions that erosion of Tripurasa culture by the influence of Hinduism and the subsequent intermingling of cultures through intercultural marriages is a complex issue that requires careful examination. The subordination of women through the concept of "sanskarik bahu" and the lack of awareness among the Tripurasa people further exacerbate the challenges faced by the community.
Preserving Tripurasa culture necessitates a balanced approach that embraces cultural diversity while cherishing and promoting one's own unique heritage. Only through conscious efforts to value and preserve their traditions can the Tripurasa people safeguard their identity and ensure the endurance of their rich cultural legacy.
