Shang Tsung's new VA just sounds like he's having a lot of fun being a smug bastard and there is so much charm to it regardless of liking or hating it.
I feel like he actually did a solid job following up Cary-Hiroyuki Tagewa’s Performance In The Last Game. And gotta say, those were pretty big shoes to fill, but I feel like Shang’s New V/A Actually Did Really Good, Fuffilling That Same Energy and Vibe
He did a great job. He honestly just sounds and looks like a younger version of Cary-Hiroyuki Tagewa. And I love it.
I love Shang Tsung. I mean gameplay wise I despise him but as a character he is awesome. His mannersism, his smugness and the VA to bring it all together is just phenomenal bad guy stuff. He knows he is an evil tyrant and he revels in it

It's nice to see Ermac turn into Jerrod in this timeline. And a reunion with Mileena of sorts made the moment so cool!
In other MK games it was said that he always was in Ermac but thos is the one where he's more prominent

I love that Geras storing the time keeper power in the jade jaguar was foreshadowed in the first cutscene he appeared in, where he picked it up when talking to Liu Kang
The twist of the real identity of "Kronika" is easily one of the best moments in all of NRS MK story modes, and the reference to Deception was a nice touch.
And then the game almost gave me a heart attack when Dark Sindel started fighting with everyone. Thankfully it didn't end up the same way as in MK9, but I was almost ready to shed all my positive feelings for this story mode if it actually did.
This isn't a flawless story mode, but hot damn NRS REALLY knew how to mess with the audiences this time around.

I really like Geras in this because it shows how he really is just a reflection of his master's will. He was a ruthlessly persistent and reckless brute under Kronika, but with Liu Kang he is wise and considerate
The idea of Ermac basically turning into a slot machine of which soul controls the body when you beat him while funny also interesting, because it showcases how despite the souls supposedly being in unison when they say their line but the souls still have agendas of their own
In Sindel's arcade ending, her and Jarrod are fighting the evil souls contained within Ermac for control of the body.

Loved the foreshadowing of the ‘Time Keeper in Jade Jaguar’ twist when Geras first appeared when he held the statue in question.
When he held the Jaguar in the cutscene I was like “why tf is he so interested in this random statue” but it makes sense now

The Ermac doesn’t look so bad in game. But yeah hopefully we equip a mask onto him as a gear piece.
With the Jerrod twist I can understand why they had him without a mask to show the change, but yes, I hope aswell that we can get a mask for him, it suits him more

You know, they said that MK11's ending doesn't follow with MK1. But what they really meant is that small interaction between Liu Kang and the Great Kung Lao lmao. Ngl I kinda wish that Kung Lao had a little bit more importance in the story but I respect the fact that he stood up to his bro (Raiden) multiple times.

The moment I heard Damashi I screamed "Oh shit it's Onaga". But Shang Sung being Damashi still tripped me up, didn't expect that. Then they mentioned the Nexus. So now I'm wondering if the Kamidogu will come in somehow.

For those that didn't play or don't remember Deception, Damashi was the alias Onaga was using, when he tricked Shujinko into doing all that dumb stuff. Also, yes, I think it is dumb we didn't hear this name until 2 seconds before the reveal.
What would mentioning it earlier do except get people hyped about Onaga and disappointed it's not Onaga?

Ermac reverting back to being King Jerrod and actually being part of the story, that blew my mind.
I've never been attracted to Mileena but I find her really appealing in this storyline. Mostly because they literally humanized her without taking away her rebellious spirit. So she wants to shack up with an umgadi? No one can tell her no, not even Kitana.
Kitana even supports it, told her she just gotta be patient and she can change the laws however she wants

This is the all time best version of Mileena! Not only in terms of gameplay but character. She is more than just a rabid animal, she is a leader you could follow into battle
Agreed. I never really cared about Mileena before this game, but she had a very impressive upgrade. Same with Reptile and Baraka for that matter.
The change to Tarkatans has really improved Mileena and Baraka's characters. They're not just "rawr monster". hell, you can have a character like that, but Mileena and Baraka were like that for most games. Nice to see something new!

Liu Kang can control, how these people turn out to be, but he can't control, whether these people are supposed to exist at all or not. So he makes the Tarkatans from an un-redeemable race of monsters into sympathetic victims of a disease.

I keep loving the allegiance changes we get with this story, obviously there was going to be a moment with Jerrod in Ermac but wasnt expecting him to straight up join the earth realmers
I'm glad they did not revert back to Kronika, but this age old tried and true feud between Liu and Shang.
They keep hinting the Elder gods exist and hopefully Onaga he needs a comeback. It seems like a revamped timeline is the right stage down the line.

The reason why Raiden looks different while Sindel doesn't is because Sindel is supposed to be the same person, meanwhile Raiden is like "reborn" since he is now a normal human in Liu Kang's timeline, while in Shang's timeline he is still the god of thunder.
It’s cause raiden starts of really young. Maybe 17-20. Sindel looks old cause she’s thousands of years old so she’s gonna look the same. We always only seen old raiden but him reborn is basically us seeing how he looked younger
I kinda love this twist, because it's just so hilarious that even Shang Tsung himself falls for his own trickery. Not a huge fan of where the story goes from here, but that part is pretty amazing.

The Doods sometimes confuse themselves... They got caught up in whether this is "MK11 Sindel" or "MK11 Raiden"... it's none of that. Titan Shang Tsung created all of them from scratch for his timeline; he may have based some of it on previous characters, but they can be whatever the heck he wanted.
Actually insane that Sindel just curbed stomped all the warriors but Raiden got beat by Milina in a 1v1

The issue with NotJerrod!Ermac was his generic mummy design. I straight up thought that was a rebooted Kollector due to his features.

I like that they made sure to give Titan Shang Tsung the same mannerisms as MK11 Shang Tsung. How he moves, his facial expressions, his tone. It really sells that it's the same character, and separates him from MK1 Shang Tsung.

Geras is just an absolute G and bro in this game, goddamn. I just LOVE what they did with his character so much more. He really was just Kronika's lackey in MK11 which always kinda upset me because he looked like a neat and interesting character that just got bodied over and over again in the story. HERE is him actually getting used extremely well and I loved it
I paused when original Shang Tsung appeared. I don’t know where the story is going, but restarting the story while having cues from MK Deadly Alliance and Deception, using both endings of Mk11 and using parallel times where new and old exists was a genius move in my opinion.

For being big MK fans, Steve and Kenny seem to misremember a lot of the lore. Shang and Quan Chi teaming up to resurrect the dragon army is from Deadly Alliance, not Deception.
And then they don't recognize the name Damashi, which is the actual plot taken from Deception. Although in the original is was Onaga using the Damashi disguise to deceive Shujinko instead of Shang using it to deceive his timeline counterpart in this game.
This Chapter brought 2 Things I wanted NRS to do for Years, Redeem Mileena and give Her a Better Life as if they are keeping this Character making her a Queen with a Supporting Family is a Great Direction and making Ermac’s MK9 Ending Canon which I’m Happy because it’s a Brilliant Way to bring Jerrod and Ermac being Redeemed is a homage to Deception, as for the Damashi Twist it makes sense, not only is Kronika manipulates like Shang Tsung but MK1 is basically a Deadly Alliance Requel and a Continuation of both Aftermath Endings, I know People wanted Onaga but when you think about it if NRS revealed the Dragon King, they would’ve done it by now, at least Reiko’s Ending hints otherwise,also Jerrod and Sindel’s relationship gave me vibes from Antonio Banderras Zorro Movies in a Weird Way, it’s one of those Rare Times I like Evil Sindel in the Franchise, and seeing the Good Sindel Die is Heartbreaking, at least her Soul is Safe in Ermac, the One Thing I Don’t like about the Chapter and possibly the Story Mode is Tanya, she did absolutely nothing or was in any Importance, Even Reiko had a Larger Role in the Story, Tanya being Retconned to he Far Superior Traitorous Variant was completely wasted that I expected her to be Responsible for Jerrod’s Demise.
She still could be. The fact they don’t use her much but DO hint at a relationship with Mileena implies she’ll have a more important role in the future. It’s possible they just want to save it for a better time. Seems like it’ll end up being Tanya and Mileena vs Jade and Kitana.

The new voice actor for “old” Raiden is Travis Willingham, who’s voiced dozens of characters you probably know, both from games and anime/cartoons.
Dark Raiden and Dark Sindel aren’t old versions of them. They are the new versions of them from Titan Shang Tsung’s new timeline. How they look and sound is completely up to Shang Tsung as the creator of his timeline.
