I'm a qualified diamond grader. I have worked with diamond dealers. Let me tell you that those royal tiaras are not thrown in the Queen's bedside table drawer or the bottom drawer of her desk. Jewels like that are inventoried, monitored and kept in huge locked safes. When the queen wants to wear a tiara/crown/diamond necklace etc... paperwork has to be filled out, security has to be informed, schedules to open the safe (because only certain people know how open the safe) have to be set, inventory papers have to be signed, transportation has to be organized.... it goes on and on. Prince Harry should know this.

Of course, this must happen it's quite obvious that the movement and conservation of historic pieces of high quality jewellery must be quite complex and followed to the letter.

So many of these fine pieces are quite old, nearing a century or more, and have been remade or repaired to a degree over time. I would suspect that some have non-valuable duplicates for use in highly public situations or foreign travel. With tiaras, which need to be placed exactly on the hair style, I would believe that there would be costume 'fitting stand-ins' with the actual valuable tiara substituted at the last minute.

The King is also is an immensely kind, thoughtful, highly intelligent man, who works very hard, but he is elegant and polished. It is possible to be normal, approachable, and elegant. William is a handsome man. He should enjoy his good looks. It would in no way take from him.

People. I'm horrified. I went to see the Princess of Wales in France wearing that beautiful white outfit at the game and I remembered when Meghan wore a similar outfit. It looked horrible on Meghan. It looked like she had borrowed it from how wide and weird it was on her. On the Princess of Wales it was perfect. She looked like a model. It was a blazer and white pants. Fantastic on Catherine.
She wore the outfit in the Caribbean.
Princess Catherine always looks perfectly tailored. Her clothes fit her like a glove.

I believe that when the Harkles turned up at the Palace demanding access to the tiara Angela Kelly, who was in charge of the Queens personal jewellery collection, was actually at Windsor with Her Majesty and she couldn’t just drop everything to come back to London. Looking at her hair on the wedding day it’s hard to believe a hairdresser had been anywhere near her. It looked like she had done her usual “messy bun” and plonked the tiara on top.
Angela Kelly is only staff and she would have to adhere to royal rules but apparently she started bossing staff around herself.

I actually love it that William doesn’t seem to care about frivolous matters like fashion and style. It’s humble and thrifty, and that’s wonderful coming from a prince and future king.
You'd never see william wear a gray ladies blazer. Harry could have worn a black jacket with gray or silver tie, if the beyonce concert theme was silver. He could have worn a silvery gray shirt under at least a white, light gray or black jacket- a man's jacket.
I heard from another youtuber that ari- the c.e.o. of william Morris agency told her to join Harry I Duesseldorf. To make nice and try to damage control. It's about time meghan join Harry in a way. However, I think Harry didn't want her there

I imagine it takes a great deal of time and patience to create a hair do that looks messy and poorly prepared under a veil. Her hair with the messy bun or hanks hanging down her face always look a bit skanky. And she can look quite presentable with a ponytail or bun.
The dress looked awful. Wrinkled and did not fit.

From the ages of 6-18, I lived next door to a very nice couple who had a daughter my age and we were really good friends. I was always over at her house because she was an only child and it was quieter than my house. Her parents were always so nice, they seemed loving, and super easy-going. Right before we graduated (we were the same age) her parents announced their divorce and I was in shock but even more so when I asked her about it and she told me they had been sleeping in separate rooms for YEARS and then I remembered every time I spent the night her dad would always go to the basement to "watch tv" and I remember thinking wow, he stays up late every night lol but that's where he was sleeping and they had probably been separated for a very long time. Anyway the point of the story is if I could be that close to someone and not realize their relationship was a sham, it would be so easy for Meghan and Harry to fool the world.
What I heard regarding the tiara was that Meegain's hairdresser came when it suited Meegain and Meegain expected the tiara to be brought on her command, which is impossible.
You're right, it's so weird she thought she had command of the jewels! Even Princess Diana would have had to make appointment to see the Spencer Tiara, let alone put hands on it.

I have a book signed by Princess Michael of Kent and she crossed out her title and wrote her real name in front of me. I don't think she had had a tiff with her husband as he was there with her. I think it is to make it more of a personal dedication if she is representing one of her passion projects rather than doing Royal duties. The book I have from her is about cheetah conservation.

It’s been documented that Catherine used a plastic tiara for her wedding hair practice. So it was good enough for Catherine marrying the heir to the throne but apparently that wasn’t good enough for MM……….🙄
If William does decide to become more fashionable, you're right, it needs to be because he wants to; but myself, I think the kindness the Prince exudes, his natural approachability is his best accessory. When he does need to go formal, everything seems to fit well; but no matter how beautifully the Prince of Wales is dressed, if he is not comfortable in his clothes, the effort will be for naught. I think, as with his grandmother, the best thing he wears is a radiant and kind smile. (Plus I should not be surprised if his wife, Catherine, were one of the Queen's closest friends in her last days.)

Prince william is a man's man. He doesn't have to lead with showy fashion. He knows how to dress and is stylish but fashion doesn't dictate his life.
I think the effort should be made to find what he does feel comfortable in.
The chinos he wore, before adopting adult suits, looked great on him. Maybe he can return to them for the more athletic visits. As you say he looks great in very formal attire and in uniform, but the rest of the time he is a bit drab. His suits look high street. As his wife knows there is a time for high street but not all the time. I would love to see him wear a well tailored double breasted suit or sports jacket. If course adopting the kilt would also be very welcome.
@RiverRoyal, when writing to the King, maybe you can offer your services to help the Prince become an ambassador for British men's fashion.
I'm not sure about William's need to be fashionable but I think he could do with maybe more formal tailoring. The fact that he is generally in a lounge suit without a tie looks too much like most politicians attempts to be "one of the people". The King is often in a three piece suit, with tie, but wears it with such familiarity and casualness that you don't notice it. I think William could do with the upgrade for the less hands on events. Then hopefully by the time he has to step up he won't look like someone forced into their Sunday best to visit an aged relative.

It's only been I think over the last couole years that william has skipped a tie for the more dressy casual events. Harry seldom if ever wears a Jacket or tie.

With reference to Her Late Majesty's lack of personal friends in her final years, my grandfather suffered the same creeping isolation. He was quite poorly in his last years and I can remember him saying to my mother "I've had enough gal, my Martha's gone, my mates are all gone, nearly all the family. Why am I still hanging around?" Unfortunately this is the price of longevity, especially if one becomes infirm physically rather than mentally.
Totally agree. My Dad outlived all his siblings, my Mum and so many of their friends. The loneliness is heartbreaking to see.

My dad said the same at 96 1/2 right before he passed. He was the last of his family, my mother was long gone & he felt imprisoned because he was mobility- limited to 3 rooms of the house.

It’s interesting to consider the late Queen’s friends who were close contemporaries and passed before her. This is a sad reality for those who reach a great age. A tiny anecdote: Queen Elizabeth met with a select group of representatives from a a large project within the Department of Health which was working on research into possible medical interventions,and support for, patients with Alzheimer’s and other dementias She remarked that she was glad to hear about such an important issue and that some of her close contemporaries had become “quite dotty” . This is an old fashioned description. She did not shy away from the fact that even those those who had privilege in their lifetime can be affected just as much as others who have not had money .and had lived quite quiet lives. “Quite dotty” was a descriptor of the sad times when people are simply no longer the person they once had been

I have lost a lot of my friends of all ages on several continents before their time.

When my hubby first became a USMC officer, they sent us to "officer school" which included (back in the day decades ago) how to use "calling cards", and every manner of social notes. We were told that when signing your a note which has printed your rank, etc, to demonstrate that it is a personal note, you put a line diagonally through the title, rank, etc, and then sign your personal signature. Sometimes when hubby received a thank you note or some other personal note from a very senior officer, it was also signed this way, to distinguish it from the formal stationary being used for a formal note. I have not seen this in decades, but then again, the British aristocracy/royals never change their protocol, whereas informality has not evolved in American culture to its detriment. The military and state department were likely the last bastions of formal social protocols.

I think Queen Elizabeth II referred to some people as "close confidants", but never as "best friends". As Queen, she always knew the importance of remaining neutral. I think the mold was broken with Queen Elizabeth II's reign, and we will never see another like her. As Tina Turner sang...she's simply the best!

River, About Princess Michael of Kent's signature, I was always taught as a girl that this was the proper way to sign a personal note on one's engraved card. I would cross out the engraving of my name with formal title after writing a personal note on the card and sign it with only my Christian name.

I believe the crossing out of the Royal title is to indicate the signature is personal. That was done on engraved stationery in more formal times in history even in non-royal circles.

How lovely to see Princess Catherine visit a prison. I don't think I've ever seen a member of the royal family visit a prison before. It makes me wonder how her interactions with the prisoners affected their lives. If just one prisoner is inspired to change his/her life for the better, I think her visit can be considered a success. I just love Princess Catherine's caring spirit and her ability to have fun jumping around with her kids on a trampoline. I hope her fingers are only slightly sprained and she is soon ready to dive into more fun with her kiddos!

@@shirleymasurik6239 Thank you for mentioning that. I was not aware of Fergie visiting a prison. I wonder what the prisoners thought of their meeting with her. Although she had her share of troubles and challenges during her time in the royal family, I'll always remember her friendly demeanor toward people. I was so sad to hear of her recent battle with breast cancer, but I know she is surrounded by her beautiful family. They will certainly keep her feeling loved and staying positive as she strives towards a full recovery.
There have been several visits by varying members. The Princess Royal and the Queen are two you can find images of easily.

I'll have to search the internet to read those stories. I've always admired Princess Anne's work ethic. Queen Elizabeth II will always be remembered for her long and dedicated reign. Her 70 years on the throne is such an awesome achievement. It makes me happy to think of her reunited with her husband, parents and sister all together in heaven.

William just needs polish. The other royals manage to work very hard, show great kindness, and bring extraordinary projects to fruition, while being elegant. William is in no way a trend setter in terms of kind acts and smart projects, within the royal family. That really is very insulting to the five decades of outstanding work done by the King, Princess Anne, and the work of all of the senior royals, living and dead. William is in no way unique in his work, and he has only commenced his projects. The King has brought his projects, like the Prince's Trust, to fruition, and sustained their extraordinary work, for decades.

Fake sugars are actually much worse for you unless you are a diabetic. Even bandwagon stevia is only really “natural” when bought from certain small batch manufacturers (or grow and dry your own), large manufacturers use nasty chemicals to remove the sweetness from the leaf.
Most know these days how harmful and addictive sugar is, in my opinion. But many are addicted to it.
Oh, Yes....I just found out that ALL of the damage of 18 years of Severe Rheumatoid Arthritis could have been prevented by eating only fatty red meat and water. I'm healing now for the first time. Your subject of clothing and snappy dressing made me remember a woman I met in my teens. My father was not a good dresser, though he had the money to dress well. There was a woman in my small town who ran a men's clothing shop called The Carriage Trade. This woman was an absolute genius at dressing men. My mother (parents were divorced at the time) insisted I take my dad to this lady, she was tired of looking at his frumpy divorced dad look. Not only was my dad a less than good dresser, he also had some mild color blindness.
But, when I took him to this genius woman, she picked out dress shirts, casual shirts, jackets, dress jackets, ties, shoes, absolutely everything for him. She would hold the colors up to his face - he had striking blue eyes -and you could just see the transformation based on his coloring and the color combinations she chose.
She had a fabulous tailor who tailored everything on the spot. Well - we went to lunch and came back for the final tweaks.
She put each outfit together so that he could pull them out of his closet ready to go and not worry about his color blindness. Ever after he was the best dresser among everyone he knew, he just looked fantastic and never slipped back. I think it's because he got so many compliments and had never experienced that feeling before!
I so wish that William could be introduced to someone like this woman, who not only knew cut, silhouette, style, and drape but was an absolute genius with color like no other.
P.S. This lady worked hard all of her life and her goal was a house on a cliff overlooking the ocean in Laguna Beach, CA. She did achieve her dream and she sure deserved it!
Actually Princess Micheal is correct per etiquette. When one is communicating with a close friend, to show that relationship, you cross out the more formal title and write the more personal mode of address underneath.

On my last vacation in California, I tried an In & Out burger. Yes, the burgers are good, but I honestly didn't see what the fuss was all about. Celebrities are always raving about how good the burgers are. Sometimes I think people go there just to try to catch a glimpse of a celebrity. The best burger I ever tasted was in Cape May, NJ. The cheeseburger was topped with fresh crabmeat and was served on a soft brioche bun. It melted in my mouth...absolute perfection!
Crab and hamburger?? You have to be kidding. Seems to me to be on par with a peanutbutter and catsup sandwich
The thing with In-N-Out is that it is all fresh, and I believe organic, priced at it below the average fast-food item and no weird faces when you have them make it the way you like.

With regard to the Princess's signature, from my experience working for individuals with important titles, crossing out one's formal, official title and then inserting one's Christian name is a way of demonstrating friendliness and informality. The individual is in no way rejecting nor disparaging their formal rank, but rather, they are showing that they are more than a fancy title: they are a person.

I absolutely LOVE all of your outfits. The jacket that is my favourite is the amazing peacock one. If I owned it I would hang it on the wall as a piece of art. Maybe at some point in the future you could auction it off for a charity of your choice.
