Oh, brings back so many memories, fond, well maybe not lol. But removing the floor was the best thing to do so you can what you have to work with and what if any repairs needed to avoid future problems. I was lucky though, converting a short-bus, living area about 10.5x7ft. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
