hi Bill, thanks for the comment. Yes I made the mounts and I prefer the two radios so I hear myself hitting the Sat/ISS. I have a few different radios I can use for this. I actually have two BAOFENG and will probably be back making a next video using them both. I know plenty of hams that have had plenty of success using two BAOFENGs. Hope you try it out it's great fun and easy enough. Best 73
Thanks man. Yeah it is something that a few goes/practice will iron out the struggle, but a VFO and squelch knob is what these budget radio all seem to be without. As for my old FT-470, it has a separate nob for VFO, squelch, is a crossband full duplex with cross band fade in out nob. Really simple to operate. But the Feng reception is absolutely awesome 👌 and for that reason I would simplify the operation next time I use it by setting it on vfo and 5khz steps rather than programming memory. A simple click down will be easy enough. I made it look worse as I was actually trying to set up the squelch to eliminate the hiss of raw fm. I ended up going the wrong way hitting squelch level 8 instead of 1. Hence the chaotic pressing 😁 . The feng is a decent bit of kit for the RX for sure and the signal sounds clean and actually best I've ever heard. It even sounds better than the shack. I have only used it so far on AIR band and ISS as a receiver. I think it is very good for the price. 73 bro thanks
@M0YKSHamRadio I'm sure it will be second nature to you soon..I'm like you, I like a VFO and Squelch knob..I have an AnyTone 878UVii+ and it's a great radio but you have to go into the menus to change the Squelch...It was a gift from a couple of my friends when I first got my Han License..I wouldn't pay the price for it but it does APRS, GMRS , DMR, MURS and its dual receive..I would rather have a good analog Yaesu or Icom dual receive for half the price...I'm old school bro, I'm not liking everything going digital 🤣🤣🤣 I'm still stuck in the 80's on music....Van Halen!!!!!

@M0YKSHamRadio I got a star tracker that you mount on a tripod and then your camera to the tracker for astrophotography..I have heard of guys flashing the chip on the star tracker so it will track Sat's...I hardly do any astrophotography, I'm more into Eagle's, Hawks etc..anything with sharp talons and kills from the air 🤣🤣 But if I can track down a hack I'm going to try and convert my star tracker
@bassangler73 the tracker sounds cool and a decent project for you to mod sometime. We have some nice Hawks, Buzzards, Red Kite and Kestrels around here and some cracking Owls. One massive Tawny Owl snapped an element on my old 2m yagi as it regularly perched there looking for a easy kill. I see on the top of the trampoline it's after a rat that keeps sneaking around. My dogs might get it first lol. 73 bro ill be on with more crazy stuff probably tomorrow. I will try to catch the ISS crew working a high-school your side of the pond in Newfoundland. I won't hear the school but should have a crisp copy on 145:800. At 16:25 utc. The ground station will be ON4ISS, the crew member operating NA1SS will be KI5TOM Loral O'Hara. Hopefully, I'll be about to catch it on video. 73
Try the ISS Detector for android, it rotates the compass as you point and the tip of the phone, as you have it in the video, points with the app. I see your app has a locked heading. Also, ISS Detector shows the corrected frequency for doppler shift.
How else do you think pointing a directional antenna in the sky is able to pick up weak signals and talk to someone else? Cubesat ground-relay theory? 😅

It's a train wreck here in Arkansas...On the weekends you would need 1.5kw to break the pileup and an aerial setup like M0YKS!

Nice job bro!! I can see the issue with the Feng not having a VFO knob to change frequency..it receives very well though...tough call on that one!

Just a quick question….if I want start play with sat do I need an arrow antenna with duplex or without?
Duplexer if you are using one dual band radio but I prefer no Duplexer and two radio rx and tx. Good luck 👍

You might want to try to get a polarmount from a motorised satellite dish for mounting the antenna. It would be easier to follow the sat.
