  • This is instumental portuguese folk: real stories told and played with a portuguese guitar. Stories of a man and somehow of an old generation of people who lived in a quiet rural Portugal and stopped their adolescense to be part of a war.
    Regardless the history lesson, these melodies are something that anyone hardly forgets. So take your own time to listen, discover and imagine all the tiny bits of existence that this record brings to life.

    even im not from portuguese ascendence, my grandfather found a portuguese guitar like the one in the photo, in uruguay in the 50s and bought it. i re-discovered it this year in the back of a wardrobe. the guitar seems to be 80-100 years old. in the luthier right now, going to start learning to play it (already a guitar player). this music sounds so beautiful!

    I really like the sound of this guitar. There's a lot of scope for composition with it. And the Preston machine heads are just awesome

    • @britinokinawa
      @britinokinawa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The Portuguese guitar is a wonderful instrument. The Preston heads look good, but they are impractical. If the guitar falls on the tuning screws, they bend. They have caused me endless grief. The screw threads are neither metric nor inch. Living in Okinawa, I had to search out someone with a special lathe to make them.

    • @fabioaguiar5936
      @fabioaguiar5936 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      They are not meant to be practical, they are a symbol of character, we call them "carrilhões", because they resemble the bell sets at large cathedrals and monasteries, and have been part of these guitars for many years now. Having your guitar fall may cause more grief than just bending the screw heads, it may alter the sound of the guitar altogether. This guitar is like the best things in life, it needs to be taken care of and cherished. Best of luck to you with your guitar.

    Je m'appelle Anitta, et ce fado Portugais, me rappelle ma grand-mère si respectacle, dans les beaux habits qu'elle portait. C'etait une femme forte, qui ne courbait jamais le dos et qui savait toujours se relever. Elle n'avait besoin de personne et tout le monde la reconnaissait. Son aura suffisait, elle n'avait besoin de rien d'autre. Son charme naturel à lui seul éblouissait. Je me souviens encore de son beau visage et de ses tendres lèvres qui me disaient : Ne sois pas prête à tout et n'accepte de devenir n'importe qui pour la célébrité."

    I found out through dna tests that I’m 38% spanish 35% Native American (Central America) and 19% Portuguese 3% African...I have all three main races but I knew I’d have traces of black due to history and also Native American even Spanish but the Portuguese cought me by surprise. Not only do I have it but it’s 19% that’s a big chunk of who I am! Third largest if you consider Spain then American Indian or second largest european after spanish. I always thought Portugal was cool but to actually have Portuguese in me due to my great grandpa I love the idea and happy with my outcome. I always wanted to visit Spain and will but I must go to Portugal now as it really is the second biggest european in me! Portugal is beautiful and the people from what’s I’ve seen are exotic like spanish and beautiful. Whites but different from pale blue eyes blonde hair whites of Northern Europe or most in the USA. I mean I can see how I look Portuguese aside from Spanish when I googled Portuguese men. Maybe one day I’ll date a Portuguese or spanish woman 😊 I’m actually happier that my ancestry results said I’m Portuguese more than Italian or French or even Greek as much as I love Greek bcuz portugal is Iberian culture and very similar to Spain. The guitar the language people. So realistically I am culturally a lot closer to Portuguese than Greek or Italian...Hopefully j meet cool people in Portugal and Spain
