Honestly, the only Ultra Beasts worthy of Mega Evolutions should be Xurkitree, Naganadel and Guzzlord. For Xurkitree, [due to the fact that its name alludes to an electric tree], the Xurkitite should convert it into a fast Electric/Grass type Mega Pokemon. Naganadel [through Naganadite] and or Guzzlord [through Guzllorite] could potentially become pure Dragon-type Pokemon or lose their Dragon-type and become more nimble or bulkier.
The only thing I can add to this wonderful idea is that the Ultra Beasts should suffer the "Reversal Effect" of Mega Evolution: If Mega Evolutions cause supreme disruptions and damage to the applied Pokemon in exchange for larger power potential, then the Ultra Beasts must become more "noble" and "civilized" super versions of themselves. The Ultra Beasts are some form of "unhinged" superpower on their own, so the Mega Evolution can "neutralize" the viciousness they exude...

If Ultra Beast does appear in Legends Z-A, then Poipole should be given to us just like in Ultra Sun & Moon and Sword & Shield. There, we could be given a Naganadelite along with Poipole
This in place of the Kanto Starters, or one of the Kalos starters with all 3 having old Battle Bond
Fused Nihilego's colors match Necrozma, maybe due to the amount of its light they've absorbed Ultra Beast's share this trait regardless of how they reach the empowered state. Ultra Beasts are bathed in so much radiation from Necrozma Beast Boost is the only ability they can have and all wild ones can activate an Ultra Aura, would make sense then to have them resemble it.

For the mega evolution origin point, I kinda wished they made a Pokémon responsible for it like Necrozma, eternatus, and Terapagos.
I don’t think the concept of a Pokémon introducing a new gimmick with its presence wore off just yet and hopefully we get at least one more big legendary like that. Bonus points if it’s an alien Pokemon, alien legendaries/Mythicals are always cool

My own crackpot theory: what if we do see the ultra beasts but no one knows they are aliens. Like everyone treats them as regular pokemon. Like we just see them casually as we walk down route 5 or something. Or maybe they integrated into the society back then and are helping people out. Like guzzlord is getting rid of waste,buzzswole is helping with the construction,xurkitree is powering the electricity,etc. But no one knows they are aliens. They treat them like regular pokemon. Or special pokemon at best.
There are actual pokemon that are aliens though, like Clefairy and behyem (no idea how to spell that one) and probably a couple of others. So people not knowing their origin wouldn't make much of a difference I think.

I'd like to think that all of the gimmicks of the last few generations starting with gen 6 are all just variations on a theme. Like all of the region's legendary Pokemon are competing to see who can make their region the strongest. Like Zygarde, Necrozma, Eternatus and Terapagos all came up with a way to make their region the strongest over the other. And all of these storylines are happening at the same time even tho they didn't know real life, and gen 10 is going to give us access to all of the region's gimmicks and battle it out in a Pokemon world tournament style battle Royale. That would be cool
Well, the main games definitely aren't happening at the same time.
The professor from sword and shield for example mentioned that she was going to write a book, which by scarlet and violet has been published.
As for the legends game, this one is likely taking place around the same time as Legends Arceus, as Paris (which Lumiose is based on) underwent a redevelopment plan around the same time period that LA is based in.
Stakataka mega evolving into a pyramid with the eyes showing in the center would be so metal. Maybe the other mega evos can reference popular conspiracy theories to keep with their theme of being related to horror movie tropes.
Alright ny theory is i dont think we will get new mega pokemon for PLZA. I think well get some regionals but i dont think well get any new megas

There's a chance meltan could make an appearance because part of its backstory is that it was worshipped roughly 3k years ago as a source of metal for making advanced tools. It may have been "found" in Alola however its origins are still unknown. The reason it can possibly make an appearance is because its metal may have been used in the ultimate weapon

Although Mega Stakataka looks sick in concept, but hear me out, Gigantamax Stakataka, but it's a literal fortress, and attacks by shooting the "cubes" as ammunition.
I would have zero problems with the existence of at least ONE Ultra Beast acquiring Mega Evolution. I would place my bets on either Xurkitree or Naganadel. I would support an Electric/Grass type Mega Evolution of Xurkitree, which could rival Mega Sceptile in the most savage way possible.

the black hole eating ultra beast (i don't remember its english name when writing this commentary) could have the mega idea the other way around, where instead of explaining where the things it eats goes, it'd kinda do that still, but by showing it USE what he ate to power himself up. However that's way harder to represent.

pokemon legends Z-A is about quelling legendary pokemon summoned by unbound hoopa and hoopa is the boss itself.
It would be interesting if they tie in something like all of the ultra beasts were originally normal Pokémon that mutated. When you were comparing Guzzlord to Gengar it made me think that maybe in that world, Gengar just took on a new form and became what's now known as Guzzlord.
in ultra sun, ultra moon, u can catch ultra beasts befroe post game, after defeat ultra necrozma, before the last trial and the league
It would be fun if the game reveals that the Ultra Beasts are a type of mega-evolutions, and we get to revert them into their former, cute selves. Stakataka could just be like a little Lego tower or something.
Below will be my ideas for hypothetical Mega Evolutions for the Ultra Beasts, not counting Solgaleo, Lunala, or Necrozma.
If Nihilego ever got a Mega Evolution, I would be down for how it looked when it fused(?) with Lusamine. I would keep it a Rock/Poison type and turn its ability into either Filter, Toxic Debris, Corrosion, Merciless, or Poison Puppeteer.
For a Mega Buzzwole, I would keep it a Bug/Fighting type and turn its ability into either Iron Fist, Scrappy, Moxie, Stamina, No Guard, Guts, or an ability that boosts the power of moves that drain HP from their targets(Leech Life, Drain Punch, etc.).
For a Mega Pheromosa, I would keep it a Bug/Fighting type and turn its ability into either Scrappy, Moxie, Guts, Speed Boost, or an ability that boosts the power and, ideally, accuracy of kicking/foot-related moves.
For a Mega Xurkitree, I would have its typing either remain Electric, become Electric/Grass, or become Electric/Steel. I would have its ability be either Electric Surge, Lightning Rod, Motor Drive, Volt Absorb, Galvanize, or Electromorphosis.
For a Mega Celesteela, I would keep it a Steel/Flying type and turn its ability into either Filter, Mirror Armor, Overcoat, Bulletproof, or Stalwart.
For a Mega Kartana, I would keep it a Grass/Steel type and give it the Sharpness ability.
For a Mega Guzzlord, I would keep it a Dark/Dragon type and turn its ability into either Strong Jaw, Dark Aura, Dragon's Maw, Multiscale, Berserk, Thick Fat, Unnerve, Intimidate, or some other befitting ability.
For a Mega Naganadel, I would keep it a Poison/Dragon type and make its ability either Corrosion, Merciless, or some other befitting ability.
For a Mega Stakataka, I would keep it a Rock/Steel type and change its ability into either Solid Rock, Sturdy, Overcoat, or Bulletproof.
For a Mega Blacephalon, I would keep it a Fire/Ghost type and change its ability into either Flash Fire, Cursed Body, Aftermath, Flame Body, or some other befitting ability.

My idea for Megastones is: When the ultimate weapon was fired, it brushed a meteor that was in low earth orbit, shattering it. The life force & souls used to fuel the ultimate weapon fused with the now falling meteorites. So a Charizardite contains the soul energy of a fallen Charizard from 3000 years ago, etc etc etc. So a situation like this would make stuff like a PorygonZite impossible, or a Guzzlordite impossible, as those pokemon just didnt exist at the time of the ultimate weapon, atleast in that world at the time, so their souls couldntve been used to fuel the weapon.
And regarding Mewtwonite, I think its less Mewtwo specifically and more Mew. Perhaps because Mew is so absurdly rare, nobody ever thought to try it, so instead they just associated it with Mewtwo because thats the only mon it would work with
Buzzwole and Pheromesa, gives a bit of Tekken vibes. The former feels like it should be fighting like Nina. While you combine King, Marduk, Paul and Steve to get Buzzwole's moveset. Their Mega Evolution forms should be simple but they have dual stats boosted every time they beat someone and the next Pokémon drops one of its stat.
Ultra Beasts being able to mega evolve would be so fun!

What if there can be muted versions of ultra beasts which take resemblance from necrosma considering the fact that necrosma is the A Legendary like nehilego turns black with crystals in its tentacles. Imagine necrosma based corrupted forms for all ultra beasts like they did with solgaleo and lunala. It would make necrosma more interesting Pokemon in this game
If Ultra Beast got a mega evolution, I hope Ash returns in the Pokémon anime since he used Naganadel on his team.

T-Tar, you forgot you can get the ultrabeast before the pokemon league in USUM, exept Blacephalon and Stakatacka since they are exclusive to post game.

I figured out a reason why mega evolution exists. It hinges on ttars theory about the ultra beasts though. But its because of them Mega evolution exists. Gonna email him the whole thing and who knows maybe he will cover it or figure out the connection himself.

Why would UB be in Pokemon ZA? I can probably see Mewtwo and the Hoenn legendaries in ZA cause they have Megas/Primal forms.
Idk but I find it pretty weird that the item they gave us for completing the pokedex for scarlet and violet was 1 beast ball when ultra beasts aren't even in the game so maybe that's a hint towards them returning who knows yet but if they are in it that would be pretty cool

How would that work, though? From a lore standpoint, Paradox Pokémon are only in Scarlet and Violet because of some ridiculous time machine either Prof. Sada or Prof. Turo (depending on the game) set up.
