I didn’t actually realise that Crash intentionally stretched the video edges for nearly the whole video until the very ending of Angelic 2 The Core. Never change Crash.
That Mortiis cover reminds me of Kate Bush dressed as a bat on the back cover of Never For Ever...and I'd totally listen to some kind of unsettling dungeon synth/art pop hybrid collab from both of them, now that I think about it.
that estradiol joke made my day. estrogen unfortunately doesn't actually help much with facial hair if you already started growing it before hrt but I've certainly forgotten to shave and it's not fun
The weird goblin thing on the Dickie Goodman cover is a one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple-people-eater. I only know because I grew up surrounded by novelty Halloween songs and I have the lyrics engraved on my temporal lobe.
I listened to a lot of crappy novelty songs in my elementary school gym classes, so I know that song all too well I also listened to crappy novelty songs in my middle school and junior high years too, just to a lesser extent
So, fun fact about Helloween's early 90s output: Pink Bubbles Go Ape and Chameleon are less power metal and more poppy hard rock albums and they're BAD. The reason they exist is because the singer at the time, Michael Kiske, decided that he hated metal and didn't want to be in a metal band anymore. He nearly killed the band over it and the only reason they survived is by firing him. They basically pretend these albums never happened. As for Kiske, well, for all his protests about hating metal, he never actually stopped singing guest spots on metal albums until he eventually stopped claiming to hate metal and kind of rejoined Helloween.
He has a rigorous touring schedule... that's the closest I could get to hinting at a "rigor mortiis" pun. He could record an album with Rick Rubin and call it "Rick and Mortiis"
I recognized that shirt immediately because I also got one of those shirts at the MCR show lmao. Glad to know you got to see 'em live, it was a real blast when they came by Tacoma!
Regarding that Helloween cover, I immediately recognized who made it, without even knowing that particular cover. I just checked, and yep, that's by Storm Thorgerson. Once you've seen a couple of his covers, you'll immediately notice the way he did the framing, lighting and choice of colors of his photographs. And while you're looking up covers he did, you might notice he was responsible for quite a few very recognizable covers.
Oh wow! He's actually responsible for a lot of my favorite album covers, like Opposites, Frances The Mute, The Mollusk and even my guilty pleasure, Stomp 442. Not to mention, like... ALL of the Pink Floyd Albums. Guess it just goes to show that even a legend is not safe from the occasional stinker.
Thanks for covering 2 albums that I have spent way too much money finding on vinyl (Mortiis and Helloween.) That Mortiis album, while practically the starting point of my dungeon synth odyssey both as a fan and a musician, has never made much sense to me. I'll have to ask him about it the next time I talk to him, lol. Also, it was bugging me the entire video that it seemed to be stretched. Glad to make it to the end and see that there was a reason for the madness, lol.
Lol! Yeah, I almost hated dunking on it. I actually dug into Mortiis a bit after writing this and there's some damn good stuff there.... But like... That cover is just too priceless.🤌🤌🤌
Was hoping Ice Nine Kills would appear in some form. Perfect album choice. Good album but man that cover is something. Yeah that Sabbath album cover is also something else.
Credit where credit is due: For as silly as the cover to Abruptum's Evil Genius is, the record it's attached to is one of the most evil-sounding things you'll ever hear, and the juxtaposition between the goofy cover drawing and the brutal music is honestly kind of iconic.
Oh sh!t I knew they sounded familiar, I used to be really into the mr incredible gets uncanny videos about music and in one of them the video was about black metal, this band was put between silencer and emit so yeah, legit evil stuff
the cover of Floating Coffin (18:44) is like one of my favorite osees/oh sees/ocs/thee oh sees/(whatever spelling dwyer chooses next) album covers. it may be an eye sore but it's unique! album is great too
I know the aspect ratio was done as a joke, but I non-ironically really loved it cuz most TH-cam videos back in 08-2010 would use this ratio cuz people could barely even edit properly back in the day, so this oddly gave me a LOT of nostalgia lol
Holy crap, you got me good at the end, I totally thought you'd uploaded this weirdly. I love the Misfits album in the background, I bet you could make a kickass video about them one day (well, depends on how much you like them). Happy Halloween, Crash!
Late, but hey Crash the last 3 characters on Every Trick in the Book are meant to be Romeo and Juliet and Regan from the Exorcist. Great video as always man!
I will say I appreciated the "Bang on the Drum All Day" reference, lol. Honestly about the only song I know from him, thanks to the fact that, IIRC, the grocery store I used to work at had it on rotation for the piped-in music.
You didn't even touch on why is Todd Rundgren jumping to the crowd holding a cymbal like it's a sword that he is about to bash at the people with all his power?!
That Ghastly Grooves cover looks like a reenactment of the night Danhausen was conceived...props to Crash for the Brutus Beefcake/Zodiac reference...at least it wasn't the friggin' Booty Man...
Todd's got some banger albums, but all his covers are bad, except A Wizard A True Star. It's still bad but on purpose, supposed to look like a bad acid trip.
23:58 Really makes you wanna light speed dash through it, huh? Also, fuck, the album's called Master of the Rings. Time to break out the Wiimote, it's close enough to the real thing.
Dude if you want more bad black metal album covers for future episodes, look at the album covers for NSBM bands. That scene is a goldmine for terrible album covers. Not even just for the fact that they're nazis mind you, its just very obvious that they're done by people with low graphic design skills. I'm guessing it's hard to find talented graphic designers that are willing to work with openly racist bands lmao.
Hard to believe but the guys who did that Satan Is Real album are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame (Charlie & Ira Louvin). You'd think a label like Capitol would've popped for a few extra bucks to at least hire a guy in a devil costume for the shoot...
Am I weird for never noticing that “Every Trick in the Book” had a bad cover until now? Like, it just gets worse the more you look at it why did it never click with me.
Anyone who gets pissy about Danzig (or, specifically, Danzig Sings Elvis) really needs to get their ears cleaned. Or just acknowledge being legally deaf.
Oh shit. Since crash covered Iron Maiden on the bad album covers list. Are we gonna get a worst hit songs of 1980 video? 1980 is very interesting for terrible music
what really bugs me isn't the black in the top and bottom, i can sorta get the idea of the resolution.. but the white bars in the right and left are what's really fucked here
It's been almost 2 years and all I have to say is... I actually kinda liked both the super mario and Garfield movies, no joke, they are way better than they have any right to be.
I didn’t actually realise that Crash intentionally stretched the video edges for nearly the whole video until the very ending of Angelic 2 The Core.
Never change Crash.
In the beginning, I thought, “Huh, that’s a weird aspect ratio.” But the reveal at the end is such a great twist.
Huge appreciation for the estradiol joke 😂 I feel like Richard D James when I need to shave too
'Come To Daddy' is underrated as a Halloween song: the video fits, too.
BTW, I'm referring to the 'Pappy Mix,' if you want to be pedantic about it.
I'd unironically listen to all of these just for the covers.
Honestly, if we could laugh at Ozzy fucking Osbourne for having a goofy looking album cover in a previous installment, Mortiis is fair game.
That Mortiis cover reminds me of Kate Bush dressed as a bat on the back cover of Never For Ever...and I'd totally listen to some kind of unsettling dungeon synth/art pop hybrid collab from both of them, now that I think about it.
Vampire Kate Bush? Noice.
Vampire Mortiis? Eh, it works.
that estradiol joke made my day. estrogen unfortunately doesn't actually help much with facial hair if you already started growing it before hrt but I've certainly forgotten to shave and it's not fun

Mortiis album should've been called "It's Morbtiis Time"
He has a rigorous touring schedule... that's the closest I could get to hinting at a "rigor mortiis" pun.
He could record an album with Rick Rubin and call it "Rick and Mortiis"
3:07 I instantly knew what the joke was about to be but I'm glad you made it. Glad we can simp together.
I recognized that shirt immediately because I also got one of those shirts at the MCR show lmao. Glad to know you got to see 'em live, it was a real blast when they came by Tacoma!

I was never aware of that! Funny how the album art for the worst Helloween, Black Sabbath, and Led Zepplin albums were all done by the same person.
I love that you have the Rocky Horror soundtrack on vinyl considering I just finished performing in a production of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Thanks for covering 2 albums that I have spent way too much money finding on vinyl (Mortiis and Helloween.) But like... That cover is just too priceless.🤌🤌🤌
Right side of every trick in the book would be romeo & juliet & Reagan from the exorcist
The 180 this entire planet has made on Chris Pratt is a sight to behold. I'm not judging BTW, I'm sick of him too lmao.
Mortiis is a p silly dude, I don’t think he’d mind laughing. Cool with queer folk too, so that’s fun!
Was hoping Ice Nine Kills would appear in some form. Perfect album choice. Good album but man that cover is something.
Yeah that Sabbath album cover is also something else.
Another classic episode of Bad Album Covers, I knew Satan Is Real would end up on this show someday.
“Somedays you just forget to take your estradiol” sums up my entire life these days
18:43 Holy SHIT, I didn’t know Animal Collective decided to make a metal version of Strawberry Jam!!!
Every Trick in the Book is actually my favorite Ice Nine Kills album.
Credit where credit is due: For as silly as the cover to Abruptum's Evil Genius is, the record it's attached to is one of the most evil-sounding things you'll ever hear, and the juxtaposition between the goofy cover drawing and the brutal music is honestly kind of iconic.

Mortiis looks like John Stamos as “vulture “ in that one episode of full house
Holy crap, you got me good at the end, I totally thought you'd uploaded this weirdly. I love the Misfits album in the background, I bet you could make a kickass video about them one day (well, depends on how much you like them). Happy Halloween, Crash!
Late, but hey Crash the last 3 characters on Every Trick in the Book are meant to be Romeo and Juliet and Regan from the Exorcist. Great video as always man!
So that's where Lorde took her recent Album cover inspiration from. She took it from Todd Rundgren hahaha
7:08 he looks like he belongs in an episode of South Park lmao
18:28 my guess for the people on the other side of the album is: 1 Juliet holding Romeo, 2 The Exorcist
Love this series!
I love Todd Rundgren but damn
not one but TWO dungeon of doom era WCW references, i see you’re a man of taste
20:08
Okay, firstly, Danzig is wearing the claws. Secondly, have you seen the art for Initium? Great record, artwork is kinda weird.
24:11 whaddayamean be nice? Windowlicker is a goddamn classic. Of course I'm gonna be nice.
17:35 Reminds me of those Disturbing Police Sketch videos.
Mad props to the Zodiac joke. Favorite action figure I bought this year.
1:46 - pretty sure this is the first mention of Discogs in this series 😁
I needed a new one of these after the month I've had. Great as always, Crash.
I will say I appreciated the "Bang on the Drum All Day" reference, lol. Honestly about the only song I know from him, thanks to the fact that, IIRC, the grocery store I used to work at had it on rotation for the piped-in music.
that aspect ratio stuff was really bothering me but then the ending happened, good job Crash
18:30 I could be wrong, but I believe that’s Reagan from exorcist.
Todd's got some banger albums, but all his covers are bad, except A Wizard A True Star. It's still bad but on purpose, supposed to look like a bad acid trip.
Had a blast watching it, thanks for the vid
Ayyy the best series on TH-cam is back!
18:27 My guy, that’s the girl from the Exorcist. 😂 Also, I’m 99% sure the other two are Romeo and Juliet
Funny thing, I didn't even notice black bars in the video until you pointed it out.
23:58 Really makes you wanna light speed dash through it, huh?
Also, fuck, the album's called Master of the Rings. Time to break out the Wiimote, it's close enough to the real thing.
This is gonna be spookily awesome!
Dude if you want more bad black metal album covers for future episodes, look at the album covers for NSBM bands. That scene is a goldmine for terrible album covers. Crash Thomspon. Love your content, and you seem like a lovely person, but with all due respect you look like Shaggy from Scooby-Doo in this.
that was a blast! keep up the good work
PPE? Horn on the head?
That is a bad drawing of a Purple People Eater, isn't it?
Mortiis looks like Geddy doing the Halloween stage play version of Peter Pan
For Dicky Goodman's Halloween, is that a CD or is that a laserdisc?
I think the person doing the back flip is supposed to be Reagan from The Exorcist.
Oooh, making fun of Hopsin. Be careful, or we might have a Backwordz situation again.
No, creepy and unsettling Christian album covers?
Oh well, great BAC vid as usual.
20:34 YAY DANZIG VOICE
Am I weird for never noticing that “Every Trick in the Book” had a bad cover until now? Like, it just gets worse the more you look at it why did it never click with me.
This is Helloween! I see what you did there!
You broke the fourth wall wide open.
that ending was so fucking awesome
The devil on the Satan Is Real cover looks like a rejected South Park version of Satan👿
honestly i’m surprised you didn’t make a dc comics reference for the ghastly grooves album
Crash where did you get that vest? It looks so cool!
Vest? Eh, it's just an old hoodie from Old Navy. 🤪
the series that first brought me here is back :O
Gerhard Weg ist mein Lieblingsmusiker... or something like that.
Anyone who gets pissy about Danzig (or, specifically, Danzig Sings Elvis) really needs to get their ears cleaned. Or just acknowledge being legally deaf.
Little Gerhard looks like Great Value Maxwell Jacob Friedman
God damn thT zodiac joke was a narrowcast joke done very well
...I'm pretty sure I don't grow a nice pair of knockers when I forget my girl goop
Ms. Antropical Painforest was my favourite teacher!
14:00 Maybe not, but I'm pretty sure Time won't Heal the wounds affecting my eyes. (BTW I'm 52.)
Happy Halloween peeps + Crash!
Could be a Carl Wilson costume? (Beach Boys) yonger and better looking though. 🙏
0:40 mario is italian
Helloween rules 🤘
If someone swears it's not a cvm stain on the cover, it's TOTALLY a cvm stain on the cover. Happy Halloween, Crash!
Only one has the courage to do the splits directly over the camera, in search of the third key!
Yeah Hopsin's Raw cover is pretty rough but what an amazing rap album
Aphex Twin rep 😳
Oh shit. Since crash covered Iron Maiden on the bad album covers list. Are we gonna get a worst hit songs of 1980 video? 1980 is very interesting for terrible music
I'm trying to get into Thee Oh Sees, but that cover haunts me. I, uh, hate it.
11:39 - Puke green Trollface?
Thank you for the zodiac joke
what really bugs me isn't the black in the top and bottom, i can sorta get the idea of the resolution.. but the white bars in the right and left are what's really fucked here
It's been almost 2 years and all I have to say is... I actually kinda liked both the super mario and Garfield movies, no joke, they are way better than they have any right to be.
did hopsin dirty....
Odd Senses by Psyopus
My maternal grandpa's name was Gerhard. (I'm Norwegian.)
I know some adults watch that Mario movies😂
That Louvin Brothers record is a stone cold classic, the cover, not so much. A stand up devil and a bunch of tires on fire. Terrible.
Volume 7
Homie, just for the record, this is not how you get a Volume 7.
What album is in the background with the blonde emo zombie?
Choir Boy - Gathering Swans. Fantastic Goth pop
@@CrashThompson awesome! Gotta check that out.
Quick request for us severely OCD'd: can you list background LPs in future descriptions? Thanks!
holy shit those dickie goodman albums are fucking amazing in how half assed they are. its an amazing shitpost.
