This is the most interesting behind the scenes look at a news station on TH-cam! Glad I watched! The tour guide is so intelligent, informative and professional. I am such a news fanatic and I just loved watching this! Learned so much. You guys have a cool studio facility. Makes me want to go there. Thank You for showing this :-)
wow very fun .sat at my work place and watched it..very edcational piece on how the different departments plays a vital role in broadcasting and how to get info out to the public.
This was a very informative behind the scenes tour. Didn't know it was so much involved in putting a newscast together.By far that was one of the best behind the scenes I've ever watched.
WFSU should be declared the leader with the most advanced state-of-the-art broadcasting system of stations in America. Its museum is a prelude to exhort interest and appreciation in broadcasting. Thanks to you, I am typing to you from Brooklyn, New York.
As a National News Anchor it feels so weird to see the newsroom so calm unlike in our control room it’s hectic like you’ve never seen before. Even if there is nothing on the air😂
Awesome.. Amazing. I worked with 2 local station in my country. Wow , We are so behind these tech. Great video blog. love it. I would love to take a tour one of these days. Thanks for this tour.
He makes reference to people not being able to get NBC and CBS right. NBC 10's 25th anniversary coverage of the 1995 switch had a story about that. Someone said that they tell the person "Ukee's on CBS, Hurricane Schwartz is on NBC," and that does the trick. Although now, Glenn is retired.
God this was depressing to watch. So many jobs gone. But at the same time, excellent tour, seems like a really great guy. I'm not in Philly so I have no idea who he is, but great work!
Cool I'm in High school learning A/V Communications and Tech which is where we work with cameras, editing programs like Adobe Pro CC and etc. where taking a tour to 3 news station Channel 5,4 and Telemundo ☺️
A great movie to see as a companion piece to this is :"up close and personal" starring Robert Redford, about life in a tv news corporation. Check it out, you'll love it.
Very nice and very complex Professional studio.. I am working on a less complex studio for my business and TV show interviews studio with team & virtual software and green screen.

I used to love the Andy Griffith show back when I was in high school. I can't find it on TV now. I bet I haven't seen it in 40 years. What channel is it on in Tulsa?
Mike Douglas one of the best of Asian -Americans knew what he did for your people he needs to be recognized A older man once told me in a very loving way o John Mike Douglas great man I knew it was true cause this man lived in South Philadelphia and Philadelphia was in his blood no bullshi
Licensed, only WNBT (WNBC 4-1 on 7/1/1941 at 130pm) and WCBW (WCBS 2-1 30 minutes later as NBC "jumped the gun"), both in NYC. KYW CBS 3-1 (as Philco's WPTZ) did get the license the same day as the NYC stations, but weren't ready to broadcast officially and had to wait exactly 2 extra months (9/1/1941) to start. After those 3 WRGB (same call sign since licensed, initials from a GE engineer in charge) finally got its' license in 1942, while WABD (WNYW Fox5 NYC) did in 1944 broadcasting from the same building ever since... The predecessor of WRGB (Albany, NY CBS 6-1) went on the air by GE as an EXPERIMENTAL station in 1928, followed by the predecessor to WNBC (a pre-GE RCA started it) a few weeks later.
8:10 so it's true then, corporate still has a love affair for Windows XP. Even taking into consideration the age of the video, that's still a 13 year old OS.
All of the past and current glories stated are for naught if you are not trying to seek out the truth and truthfully report on it. The main stream news does not do this sadly, so I prefer no frills or flashiness and just the hard facts which can be rooted out with diligent effort from internet podcasts often from non professionals. I have worked in TV for over 45 years and I must admit this is a well done tour of the modern TV station operation.
I've seen robocams and automated cameras screw the pooch live during newscasts hundreds of times. This anchor is telling us to get used to it, because it's gonna happen more often. The damn accountants & board members don't watch their own news shows and don't care if the production values fall so far off the cliff that their anchors look like the 3 stooges. Camera operators are not perfect, but they take pride in their work. Production labor was cut with the camops jobs, but that same amount now pays the CEO's ridiculous 30x paychecks. God damn the uber rich CEOs that killed off the middle class jobs & stole their paychecks.
That was AWESOME !!! It was informative and entertaining as well...INFO-TAINMENT !!! (Thank you Dave Letterman for that joke). But seriously...I truly appreciated the skill level our reporter/guide showed knowing the stations' history and its' many years of broadcast history in the industry. Bravo !

I appear at 11:30!! I am FAMOUS! This tour was great with our masterful guide!
Which one are you
Congrats from a Italian broadcast engineer, I'm working on RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana. You're a role model for all of us.
What a wealth of information. The tour guide was quite knowledgeable and entertaining. Great presentation.
He's the morning news anchor.

The tour guide is very good, he explained master control/production control etc really well.

That was fun, thanks from New Zealand, I’m lying in bed getting over covid. You made my day that little bit better.
Trust America, not the corporate media...
Great video! High quality and super interesting. I knew CBS Philadelphia had a lot of firsts but didn't realize the extent.
I wanted to be a cameraman for something like this but I guess it would be a bad field to get into since I'd be replaced
9:56
Thanks a lot for putting this video on youtube, so I can show it to my students as if we were there doing the tour, too. Nice.
Great shooting on this thank you great to see more stations.
Thanks for the tour.

As someone going into broadcast production, I’m worried we’ll all be replaced soon

awesome tour!
That's a cool place! I owned a newspaper and looking at buying a couple TV stations.
How many times have I heard, “We are the most advanced TV station in the US”...
Fascinating, this is a big time TV station.
Thanks so much for the tour. Very informative. Enjoyed every minute.
Kat Taylor I know. I honestly didn't plan on watching the whole thing!
God this was depressing to watch. So many jobs gone.
But at the same time, excellent tour, seems like a really great guy. I'm not in Philly so I have no idea who he is, but great work!
Love TV production, thats why it's my major in college:)

ok
My class went on a tour of a TV station in to '60s, this is like Star Trek in comparison.
Master control behind bulletproof glass!? Wow.
Thank goodness for back up loved it
I remember Howdy Doddy and Pete Boyle's children's show.
Interestingly enough, I’m writing a story that requires a news room, and I have no idea how news rooms work, so this is extremely helpful
This was really cool. If I was to do it over again, I would work in the control room.
Great tour!
I remember when Larry Kane was on WFIL radio
Definitely enjoyed!!!
Thanks for the tour sweet cheeks.
This left me practicing my "KYW News Radio 1060". Actually got pretty good at it lol.
Does this station have a virtual view weather studio like KPIX 5 has in San Francisco?
That was a super amaizing video.
Hello! a big greeting from Miami.......

Very interesting.
“Dynamics of cost-savings”.
I would never have distracting competition monitors in a control room.

Sorry, who is the tour guide?

Slightly sad stage managers and camera operators have been replaced completely by robots, but them's the breaks I suppose.
My buddy 😢Justin.

yup CRAZY!
Channel 3 was once called WRCV.
My Uncle used to work At KYW.
I remember that change of channels very well. I remember Vince Leonard, would end his show with Drive with care and buy Sinclair.
My Uncle worked with Tom Snyder, Jessica Savitch and Bill Custer.

pov: u r here because of ur science assignment💀
Why are you touring a TV station for Science? For how they get the weather maybe?
"I Like Candy ! ! ! ; I Love to Dance ! ! !'
Sounds like the tour guide uses alot of K-Y!
The person on the left in mc was prepping a show.
Funny nice guy
Japan had HD since 1991, so everything he says has to be taken with a grain of salt.
Its really a shame that all those technical people lost their jobs due to money.
❤
So, I’ve heard of the scandal his demeanor throughout the videos proves it unfortunately if he could mean to guests, he could be rude to anyone
Could they have picked a less annoying preppy tour guide?
what?? the guy is great!
Nice video.. but workers are like... slaves of the work? (9am to 11pm).. like it doesn't matter family? :(
Part time
going manual
