You can observe he is telling this Raaga received 3 times Standing ovation... Never he uses 'I' got standing ovation.. Lot to learn from this Legend. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
OMG, even after achieving so much he's so humble. He says that he feels nervous to play in front of legends, does he even realize he himself is a legend?
Days when I am feeling low, I listen to this concert. The cosmic sound of his music and Srinivas sir’s words always puts a smile on my face. Whoever said Genius and Humble don’t go together! Come watch this human being!
Was listening to U. Srinivas, who this Jewish boy from Boston and the high peaks of the White Mtns., absolutely adores, and googled something about him and up came the story of his death two weeks ago. His music has given me great joy since I first encountered him in Remember Shakti ten or so years ago. I've listened to a lot of his work, some of it to my taste and some of it not, without regard to genre. His ability to make my heart soar is up there with the best: R. Shankar, Clapton, Coltrane, Hendrix, M. Davis, and even McLaughlin at his best. Some of the music on the three Remember Shakti CDs is as beautiful as anything I've heard in my long life. Srinivas's collaborations and songs played with his fellow South Indian musicians are equally amazing. The interplay with tablaists and violin and other instruments is just extraordinarily creative and engaged. Highly recommend the albums Mandolin Melodies and Modern Mandolin Maestro. The song Ninnuvina on Mandolin Melodies just takes my breath away--It is Love Supreme with drone! I'm not religious, and so not sure what to say. As one of the "fortunate ones", music has played a central role in my life since the mid-1960s. Srinivas is one of the Great Ones. Thanks to NPR for letting me know! This video itself is very very beautiful. Srinivas is just stunning in performance.
There are two instrumentalists in carnatic music who could play the notes with utter grace and skill and they are Lalgudi Jayaraman and U.Srinivas.. This event is a befitting one to show the compositions of the former being played by the latter. Nothing could have excelled this!!
I remember fondly his concerts in Sacramento at CSUS when he was a kid including the 1984 tour he mentioned. A shining star on the firmament of Carnatic music forever and ever.
Each time i feel i have achieved something in life i hear to srinivas speaking and realize the true meaning of humility. If one thing I can learn anything from this genius is to be humble in spite of his amazing skills and popularity. You are connecting us to GOD when you perform.

U. Srinivas, child prodigy, mandolin maestro and a wonderful human being. So sad he died today at a very young age of 45. Hard to believe. Rest in peace. I hope you can come back to earth again. We need musicians like you to turn this sad world around. We will re-live your musical legacy.
Our entire family members have been denied the privilege to hear soul touching divine music. My grand son Sai Sathya who is his pet young student is in deep sorrow. May his departed soul bless him to continue his musical journey.
I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS BOY SINCE 1976 -77 AND TODAY I FEEL SADDENED WITHOUT HIM I ONLY DERIVE CONSOLATION FROM HIS MELODIES. A TRUE EMBODIMENT OF BHAKTI AND DEDICATION WITH GODDESSS SARASWATHI IN HIM
There was and can be one and only prodigy, that is U.Srinivas.The rest can at most be caricatures that would like to pass off as prodigies but in reality, they are far from being called so and much less before Srinivas's prodigious talent.Watch out,he is going to come back in a new avatar of celestial music.
RIP Mandolin Maestro... always humble and smiling...ever since I first saw him in a concert at a temple near my home when he was just a teenager, but a celebrity already!!
What a child like glow and enthusiasm on Shri Shrinivas’ face while he described his Boston experience! Paramatma is not entirely merciless- he has at least left us with these recordings.
Greater master of Mandolin. I never saw anyone like him in my life. Electrifying speed with so beautiful clarity of sound of each pair of string. Salute Raja. You were wanted by the most powerful entity in the world. That was your real home Sir. Near Saraswati Devi's feet.
Biggest loss to Music. I regret not being seen you on live concert but always watched you on Doordarshan and You tube. It was my wish to see you perform live. You will stay with us forever. May your soul rest in peace. May god bless your family with lot of courage and strength to accept your loss.
One of the greatest legends of all time for the world of music. A very modest human being despite the genius he is. Can't digest the fact that he is no more. May his soul rest in peace. May he bless us all from the heavens.
May your Great Soul rest in peace. I still remember that cool evening concert near Koppa in Chikkamagalur in 2007 when you along with Rajesh played fusion. I had a cassette recorder and recorded your entire concert and used to listen to it again and again during my stay in Sringeri for about one year. Later on though the cassette caught fungus and rendered useless, your melody still plays in the ears. Will miss you so much... :-(
What a great spiritual music legendary occasion. Rare to see the great MandslinSrinivas playing in a video and a rare chance to see it for the music lovers and especially his fans in this haphazard World. Thanks a lot for this video and wonderful to see him playing with expressions of situations, occasions and feelings. May be there was a slip of a tongue, wonderful remembrance of a great moment and looking back at himself and un a nutshell divine self introspection.!! Music is great, sponsors true or rare to find ambience are rare to find. Everything positive is seen and heard. What a wonder. Long live the mandolin Maestro, true sponsors and music!!!
I bow my head to three persons who were made to born in the world and leave the globe in their mid 30s. They are Adi Shankara, Ramanujam- god of mathematics n come our beloved child-like legend U. Srinivas. Would they have born somewhere? Would we be able to realise n see them. Tears are the answers. Pranams, pranams, pranams.
Wow... Awesome concert ... I had 2 of his cassettes when I was a child . Since then I have been his fan.... he is so humble that he stood up when he received the flowers and he being a legend himself is afraid to play in front of the legends... That is humbleness... So grrateful to live in the same era. Thank you and God bless 🙏
