to many who are stuck and struggle, the created or creation is a wonder and beauty to behold ... but not to be mesmerized, the true desire and fulfillment we seek is in the CREATOR Himself, and that One, is Christ Jesus.
David, you covered these verses perhaps better than anyone else that I have heard to this day, with your gift of teaching. I realize the importance of focusing and setting my mind on things above, including asoects that can produce better community for God's people in due time (John 17:20-23; 1 Corinthians 1:10). Focusing on bigger houses and more cars feels hollow, shallow, and empty (1 Peter 1:18). Having faith that doing a good job and that obeying God will provide what I need is contentment for me (1 Timothy 6:6-9). I certainly want to use all my talents to my own and others' benefit. I also want to enjoy life with my future wife when I eventually get married (Ecclesiastes 9:9). When I do eventually get married, then I have to consider worldly situations more (1 Corinthians 7:32-34), which is one big reason she must be Christian before I marry her so that I am not bogged down by worldly interests, which can drain the soul, when the world is still focused on the wrong ambitions too much of the time (1 John 2:15-17). You gave the best informative explanation on "your life is now hidden with Christ in God" -- I still need time to figure this one out myself as best as possible, as I pray, meditate, and study; however, you might be correct through and through.
Yes, this is not our home anymore, but in that altered state just before I'm really awake.. Ohh.. The attacks in the mind from our enemy. Such negativity, it's all out war. After I'm up... Different story. He is so dirty and evil, the only way to make it for me is to think of Jesus and lovely things. We have to exercise, mind control!!!Thank you
there is a good reason our lives are "hidden" in Christ, because God cannot look on sin, and would be hideous, woefully inadequate coming there in the ragged torn clothes of what we consider righteousness. In Christ, God sees Christ redemption, smiles and is well pleased.
a Wonderful exhortation for the church goer or the potato couch Sunday football quarterback .... how so you ask, well some set their mind on things below, and that's dung, the past cannot be changed and it is now worthless. Others are on the level playing field looking to their left, and to their right, straight ahead, and say I am fully present in the here and now, the emotion and commotion of the fans and crowd, and with a little bit of a look above, but that looks goes only as far as the end zone, and in this present life, there comes a time and day, when the game is over (no changing the box score results) and the day is over, decades pass, and no matter how or what a great play it was today, forgotten by those 20-25-40-50 yrs ahead. Who? What? All the more reason, to set your eyes beyond the stars to Heaven, on the focus to the true north, the real end zone, the eternal win, Jesus Christ. With out eyes focused on Him, there is no loss, only gain. When we set our eyes on this world, only loss, no gain, all eventually a vapor, evaporated and lost. Would to God we would get emotional, get excited over the things of God, because that is where true and lasting victory comes from.
