Born and bred a Leyther, 1st lived on Kirkhall Lane in front of Ring O Bells, before terraced houses were pulled down, then lived near BICC tower. But some good memories of the Old Leigh, in them photo's!

Born in a house across from the Tamar in 1977, emigrated to Toronto in 1982. I miss my Grandma and Grandad on Chaucer Grove. I miss a lot of things. We’ve come back home many many times over the years. I miss the market when it was good, going to Bolton to shop. My earliest memory was at the Turnpike as a little girl ❤️

Liked the shot of the BICC works. Worked there for a short while in the mid 60s making the cable reels whilst waiting to hear if I had got an apprenticeship at English Electric

Great job, it's fascinating to see how Leigh changed over the decades

Thanks, I moved away years ago so making these videos is a labour of love. Delving into the past and bringing back memories from my Childhood.

I was born in Leigh and lived there until I was 6. My Mum(Mam 😂) and Dad decided to move to Shrewsbury. I bought a house in Leigh of a relative who had fallen ill a couple of years ago to flip so ended up spending a bit of time here while working on it. Still a lovely town with great people but I couldn’t believe how Pennington park had changed!! It seemed tiny and generic after its Millenium(?)makeover.

I think the biggest loss to the area has been the railway line, it would be useful to have today. Only thing left of Pennington Station is an old cobbled road that led to it.
