    I can imagine it being the 80s, teenagers riding to this mall with their big hair, jamming to a song like this one, lol. Nice video 👍

    Thanks for this video. I worked in this mall at Hess's about 30 years ago. It was one of my most favorite jobs ever. I was so sad to see the store change ownership and names. I will always have my fond memories. Thank You so much!!

    Wallie I enjoy your videos the mall ones are kinda sad as a child of the 80’s I remember the malls being full of people it seemed like everybody in town would be there. But with Amazon coming around more and more of us shop online now I’m afraid soon malls will be a thing of the past😕

    Good history of the mall. The food court had an Arby's, a pizza place, a Chinese place, and a corn dog place (the empty slot to right of the Bath and Body Works). Bath and Body was the original KB Toys location. There was also an arcade in the food court that moved to a bigger space in the Sears wings.

    Great video Wallie! I'm glad you are covering a mall in my state. I just know that you must have a video of Richmond mall in Richmond, KY in your backlog. If you ever get a chance to make a video of Somerset Mall in Somerset Ky I would scream for joy.

    I’ve heard the reason this mall has such a hard time is exactly what you said about Hard Knox. The rent is stupid high and the management is impossible to get along with. I wish someone else would buy it and restore it or build another one. I miss the nice mall.

    You should visit the Springfield Mall in Springfield, Pennsylvania; it's thriving and it has a crap-ton of tenants (but only two anchors), including one that sells toys "as seen on TikTok" on the first floor near the Macy's.

  • @FerdinandMagellan08
    @FerdinandMagellan08 ปีที่แล้ว

    What you are seeing is exactly what the interior looked like in 1985 when it opened. The Rogers and Brooke Jewelers now occupy the space that was an Orange Julius. The Kentucky Korner was the original location of Disc Jockey, which became FYE. They later relocated to the Sears wing when it was added. The reason that Sears did not open in the mall was that their location at the time still had two years on their lease. Originally Sears was not on the list of stores to be closed in the bankruptcy. However the building needed repairs done to the roof, it needed a new HVAC system (It was always hot inside during the summer) and there were mold issues. The mall's owner did not want to fix the issues so Sears pulled out. The reason the south side parking lot of JCPenney is empty is because the entrance has been locked. Ever since COVID they've had all the exits closed off and the only way in is through the front or from the inside.

    This mall may as wells be dead. I remember when it was vibrant and alive. Remember trips to sears with my ad and coercing him into going to the toy store. Remember FYE and GameStop. This mall has nothing left worth going for than a comic shop and it makes me depressed to go in anymore.
