We were just there on August 5th, 2013. Though not much is there, it is still interesting and makes you think. The cemetery is a must see as well. We did go up to Blakeburn not knowing that nothing exists there but a sign on a tree.
my grandparents talked of granite city, when they had gone exploring there there were still parts of the old cabins, the next time they went there was nothing, and the plaque was gone too but that was a long time ago
I was there in 2007. Arent there old store fronts just when you cross the bridge going to granite city? Is there still an open pit coal mine up the hill? If I recall there was also a mini mine on the side of the river up from the camp sites as well.
I wish the newly minted Granite Creek Preservation Society all the best with the old town site.
