I picked the master key as my gift first playthrough because I watched videos like this and knew to be cautious about those areas. Good video. Nice soothing voice.
One thing the pendant will be useful for is trading for a souvenir of reprisal, a covenant item for the Gwyndolin covenant. For anyone who does not care about the platinum, do not pick it, if you do, and you want the farm of the crows in the painted world to be slightly shorter, then you might consider it. I personally choose it in challenge playthroughs since I prefer it over nothing and it was the gift I chose on my first time so honestly I have an attachment with it.

@@HowToSouls I saw in the dark souls wiki that the Pendant has "No effect, but can be traded with Snuggly the Crow for Souvenir of Reprisal" which in turn could be used for upgrading Blade of the Dark Moon Covenant?

I hear your point of a player been lost when using Master key,however,that is what makes this game so good,the fealing of hopeless,and besides,even tho that may happen,not all things are bad because that player may be in a harder area and have a real strugle,however he/she most likelly picking those items and will come across something really handfull.
Risk/Reward its in this game in every way.
Good blessing is just a fast healing item,a once time item that you can do with a humanity,just a bit slower but humanities will not only recover full hp,but also gives you phisical defense and the ability to raise estus amount.
Black firebombs are only really usefull if you intent to have that demon weapon right on for a strenght built or whatever.
Twin Humanities,well its twin humanities.
Binoculars you can get acess to it right on start as well,so no point i think.
Pendant its Myazaky´s mistery,only he knows what this useless item is trully worth.

Tiny´s Ring,ok this one may be usefull for real starters,still i think is useless for that litle amount of hp at the cost of a ring slot,up to you.
Old Witch ring is a ring that allows you to speak with Queelag´s Sister or you can drop it in Crow´s nest in starting area and recieve Sunlight Magoot helmet that allows you to see in the dark since its enlights the area quite good.Perfect for Tomb of Giants but again,who will be there at the start of this game as a newbie?
