Eric Buck I found Heartland MAYBE a month ago...didn't have Netflix til then, pathetic!!! Ending up Season 4 now...so hooked!!! Better late than never. The music in this series is awesome..just HAD to find this song....love the video!
MY HUSBAND AND I STAND BESIDE YOUR WIFE AND THIS SONG. MY HUSBAND IS PART CHEROKEE BLOOD AND WE BOTH RESPECT THE HERITAGE AND THE LOVE THAT THIS SONG REPRESENTS. YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB. WE SEND OUR LOVE..
This song is so powerful. It touches my spirit every time I hear it. It embodies what Native Americans and First Nations people are all about, living peacefully together, only taking from the land what is needed to survive and then giving back what has been taken. Think about it. When the Indians (in the Americas) and First Nations peoples (in Canada) were more prevalent in both countries, our countries were thriving. There was no air pollution. There was no overgrazing on the open lands. Everything was in balance. If the earth is to survive we need to pay attention. Is Canada or the America's surviving?? No it is polluted to the point where many of our wildlife is becoming extinct. There is so much overbuilding that the pollution from that is destroying all of us and our once beautiful lands. It's time to respect our lands and our wildlife. It's time to regain our balance and respect our planet. Listen to the words of this song... "Eyes Wide Open and now I see."
This song REALLY needs to be available for purchase. It’s GREAT. I keep searching Apple Music but never an option. If there’s any other way I’d love to know so I can buy it please!!
My First Nations teacher introduce me to this group through this song. It touched my heart. When I get frustrated or in need of a spiritual uplifting this song is the first to come to mind.
My 1st nation family did the same I am the little white wolf that is my 1st nation's name Because I'm a white Canadian I am strong and independent once I open my eyes I can achieve anything I believe in
By some crazy and lucky way I am a descendant of Tecumseh. I heard this song from heartland and I had chills and my heart was beating out of my chest. Wonderful song
Da, to je taj duh. Potpuno sam zaboravio pohvaliti djevojke, pjesmu, temu, prirodu, taj duh davnina. Predivno. Big salute to canadian Indians from croatian NorthAdriatic sea, peninsula of Istria.
I think M'Girl should have a guest appearance on Heartland! Maybe they are doing a show as part of a rodeo and they are staying in the tipis at the Equestrian Retreat or they are doing a show at a Powwow on the reservation Scott Cardinal is from. Just a thought.
Third tine watching the First Nation Full Circle episode. My ancestry on my mothers side Luiseno Pala Res. My grandmas spoke the language. Was always visiting my family running in the hills. I miss it not the same now. My grandma left us in 1984 the aunts and cousins are all gone now. This reminds me of her teaching me pride when it wasn't an easy time. Using others in old movies. She loved Westerns anyway. M Girl has a powerful voice. She sang, my mom me and sisters too.
Damn, you seem to have opened a door I thought was closed. Sitting here by myself watching my favorites, while crocheting my first afghan. I love this song but haven't heard it since before my mom died (badly) two years ago. When M'Girl got to the line 'ancestors watch over us, and guide the path we take,' I suddenly burst into tears; I'm trying not to sob right now. My mom crocheted afghans, but I never had the patience (I hadn't made the connection to what I'm doing until I wrote this). She also nicknamed me the Princess of Repression. :-) I admit to not properly grieving her passing; I don't know how. Thank you for showing me that I may need to talk to a professional to work through it. After I listen to the song again.
Amazing song, very inspirational. I love the urban Jungle and modern native women very cool. We can still be apart of the rest of world and keep our own traditions alive.
It's the end of 2022 and Heartland brought me here, too! I'm going to find out where I can get M'Girl's music to play whenever I need it. I have an extensive collection of First Nation's/Indigenous music which is now clearly incomplete.
Wow! All these comments. I hear ya! I started Heartland from beginning and when I got to this episode I just had to search!!! Great song. It really spoke to me ❤️
This song always brings tears to my eyes. One day I walked to work with this in my thoughts and peace had come over me. I nice calming feeling. These woman are AWESOME!!
This song brings me absolute peace and a feeling that I can not and will not try to explain the tears roll when I hear it and I’ve also been binge watching HEARTLAND IN 2023 I have no clue when this show came out but I’m appreciative of every lesson thank you
*NOTE:* In August 2007, M'Girl released an audio CD titled *Fusion of Two Worlds,* which is the only known licensed recording of "Eyes Wide Open." The single-titled song's music video was done by Big Soul Productions in Toronto. Sadly, to date (7/2/21), there is no authorized digital recording offered on any platform for the song nor album. Amazon still lists the album (ASIN B000OZ2M1Q), with the proviso that no copies of the CD are currently available. Note also that the leader and director of the M'Girl musical group is/was Renae Morriseau (contact via www.mgirlmusic.ca/). Further, a Google-search for singer-songwriter and educator Sheila Maracle (a.k.a. SheilaMohawk) yields some additional information via fb and twitter.
If you watch closely there is a part in this that reminds me of a Heartland episode. The episode is called "Full Circle" please feel free to check it out. That is the episode that brought my feeling of connection back. More things did too however that was the start of it. I LOVE this song. :)

@@debodeeful Since my heritage includes Paiute, I'm well aware that our "native" First Peoples derive from the huge immigrations into the Americas by nomadic Siberians (Mongols, especially) some 20,000 years ago. The utter foolishnesses of the moment thus don't disturb me overmuch. Yes, Big Tech Media Big Pharma, and Big Gov't have much to answer for, but by sheer hardiness, we'll continue clear-eyed . . . and survive.
This is my new favorite song for a couple reasons. First, it's a great song with an awesome message, secondly, I am a paranormal investigator. I run a team in New England called Whaling City Ghosts. Many times I've run into the Wampanoag ancestor spirits and have learned many words through the recordings of their voices I've captured. The chant in this song has one word that I've never been able to translate, it comes in the very beginning of the song, sounds like, "Hey-hee-ah-na," or possibly, "Lay-hee-ah-na," or, "Way-hee-ah-na," and for years I've tried to translate it. It's here in this song and I was wondering if anyone out there in youtubeland could do me the honor of translating that word? Thanks in advance, hugs and keep keeping those eyes wide open!
It's funny how shows and movies turn us on to music we never would've found otherwise. "Point of No Return" got me to Nina Simone, "Philadelphia" to Maria Callas, and "Heartland" brings me M'Girl.
Llegué a esta canción viendo Heartland en la escena de Amy con Víctor Whitetail. Me encantó la canción!! Saludos desde México!! I found this song while I was watching Heartland in the episode of Amy with Víctor Whitetail. I love the song!! Greetings from México!!

*LYRICS to "Eyes Wide Open" by M'Girl (2008):*
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
Eagles flying over my head
Circling as I sing, yeah
And if I hadn't known before
A blessed witnessing
A blessed witnessing
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
All of our minds, together as one
Sitting all night to pray
Ancestors, the moon and sun
Showing us the way
Showing us the way
_(music & chanting)_
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
Shake the rattle, beat the drum
The elders' voices rise
Sickness that was there is gone
Healed before our eyes
Healed before our eyes
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
Sun rising, we go back home ***
We make an offering
Say a prayer, and let it go
Create a mood within
Create a mood within
_(music & Indian-language speech)_
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
This life doesn't end with death
There's a journey left to make
Ancestors watch over us
And guide the path we take
Guide the path we take
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
Eyes wide open now
Eyes wide open
Eyes wide open now
I see you, I see you
Hwee!
_(music & chanting)_
Eyes.
