Installing a smart switch is one of the many ways you can do to convert your old home into a smart home. This Kasa smart switch from TP-link will allow you to schedule and control your switch using Alexa or Google Home.
Smart switches will require a neutral wire but most home switch does not require it so you may think that you can't replace your old switch with the new one. If you do not see a neutral wire in your old switch, you must take it out and check the wires behind the switch as it may just be tucked inside.
Replacing the old switch with a smart switch will take around 5-10 minutes and is an easy DIY project. The hard part will be to find a way to fit the smart switch into the box as it will require more space compared to the standard switches.

I watched more than enough Kasa light switch videos on the web. However, I must say this one is by far the best. The video is not rushed and provides clear instructions from installing the light switch, app set-up and finally connecting to Alexa. Thanks for a great video!

This was super helpful, I wasn't sure how the TP Link Kasa switches I bought were going to interface with Alexa, and the information you provided was great! Just to confirm, you can still manually turn the light off and on via the wall switch, independently of Alexa? Thanks!

I am glad to help. Yes you can still manually turn the light on/off manually via the wall switch it just feels a little different because it is not a switch that goes up/down anymore. You just push the bottom part of the switch.
