Thank you very much for this video! I am so happy to have a thorough explanation of finsweet/attributes and how to use them! Here are some tips for people who might have run into the same problems I did and how I fixed them: ⭐Changing the filters into buttons: Instead of using a checkbox, I used a radio button and then added the class I use for my buttons to the radio text field. Set the actual radio Display to "None" under Layout. If you use checkboxes, it'll make the filtering crazy because each time you click the button, it is technically checking/unchecking and therefore filtering/unfiltering that term. ⭐Empty state: To ensure that the empty state is hidden unless it's actually necessary, make sure to add the custom attribute to the paragraph (or whatever you placed inside the div block) instead of the div block itself.
The way you explained exactly how it worked by pulling the same text from the objects was awesome. Helped me customize a solution for a website I'm building. Thank you!
You are one of the best instructors. You do not miss a step I how this is set up and your pace is great for folks that are just learning how to incorporate FinSweet products. It's a challenge to figure out what attributes need to go where, etc on your own when you are just starting. Thanks so much for these videos.
This was an absolute god send, I was totally struggling with this one issue for a long time, thank you for going through that so clearly and concisely. I couldn't make head nor tale of Finsweet's documentation, but seeing this video totally demystified all of it. Thank you sincerely
Great video Ruairi. Would love to see more of these for the other attributes. Perfect length and straight to the point. Exactly what I needed to get moving on a project quickly 💪
Hey Ruairi! Thank you so much for this. I went through Finsweets tutorial but i didn't understand anything haha. You were very educative and celar in what to do! Thank you so much! Cheers from Sweden :)
Wow! I was spending the whole morning trying to figure this out and you made it SO clear in a few minutes! You're amazing. One question: I suppose this solution works one filter at a time. Is there any chance or do you have any suggestions or other tutorials you made for multiple crossed filters? Like I want to filter a trip by country AND by price range. Thank you in advance for your kind response! And thank you for your good work! Keep it up
When I add the checkboxes to my filter UI and connect it to the dedicated CMS field, it created 40 checkboxes (because I have 40 collection items) with duplicate values. For example: I have 4 vacanies. 3 of them are in the sector "production", and 1 in "sales". Now i connect the filter UI checkbox to the sectors: I get 3 checkboxes with "production and 1 with "sales".
Ruairi, thank you for this video. Your explanation and walk-though is exactly what I spent a day looking for. The process really is quite simple, however, to someone just starting out learning Webflow the documentation from finsweet --while logically correct-- obviously could use a bit more. This video solved the problem, thank you again. If you are actually reading comments, is it possible for the Category Checkbox Filter text items to be CMS as well?
Using CMS...Cannot get it to filter more than one reference when LIST is based off CMS. Probably requires custom coding. -- I am new to all this, I understand the language I simply do not know the Jargon. I believe is a Non-Reference or Circular reference is what i can figure;. X + Y =Z, right? but each element is variable so the result is One or Null if select more than one on Y.
Thank you so much for the tutorial. It was helpful. Is there a limit on the number of cms items that can be displayed in filter? Some of my cms items aren't displaying using the filter
This is really a big help. It's easy to understand. Just a question, how can I apply the filter to all pages? What mean is I have a blog page with 30 blogs and it consists of 12 blogs the remaining will be seen on the next page. How I can apply the filter on all 30 blogs without going to the next page. It seems like it can only filter the page where I am right now. Hope you can help me :)
Hi! Thank you for this video! I am using a select field to filter my CMS and it's working fine. However, do you happen to know if it is possible to add a clear filter to one of the checkbox options? I basically want a "show all" option in the dropdown. Thanks!
You are most welcome! Yes you can clear filters - take a look at their documentation and go to the part that says 'CLEAR', then follow the instructions :) finsweet.com/attributes/cms-filter
Hey, great tutorial! Do you know if there is a way where I can have it set so that if a user clicks one category and then clicks another category the first category selected will be unchecked so that only the category that was clicked second will display?
Thanks, glad you liked it! I reckon you would need to use Javascript for this. What you likely need here though is to use Radio Buttons instead of Checkboxes (if that's what you're doing) since Radio Buttons are designed to work how you are describing :)
Hello Ruairi, your video is very good and was very didactic. I was able to apply the filter to a group successfully. And how do you cross multiple categories?
@@RuairiMcNicholasIE I think he meant how can we have items appear in both categories that it applies to? For example how can it show up in results in both web development and sales when we just reference the 1 attribute
Hi. Very cool video, practically did what I need, but there is one problem. I have a collection list with pagination, the blog has over 250 posts and it shows up to 15 pieces per page. The filtering only works on the current page of 15 posts, not on all 250 posts. Is it possible to adjust this? Thanks
Thanks for the feedback! I believe you need to use another Attributes solution, CMS Load, to get it working with Pagination: finsweet.com/attributes/cms-load
Hi, great video. Exactly what I was looking for. May I ask If this would also work with 2 different filters at once ? For example: 1. category: SEO, 2. payment option: Free. Thanks
Probably a mismatch between the custom attribute you assigned to the checkbox label and the relevant field in the CMS. Try 1: Using Finsweet's automated support tool to check everything is set up correctly 2: Reading through the 'Field Identifier' part of their docs and checking you have it set up correctly: finsweet.com/attributes/cms-filter

merci beaucoup ! vidéo claire et très utile. j'ai réussi la mise en place du filtre sur Webflow.

Hi guys. I have a problem. I did everything like in the video but when I publish the page and select a checkbox, all blog posts disappear.
Probably a mismatch between the custom attribute you assigned to the checkbox label and the relevant field in the CMS.
Try
1: Using Finsweet's automated support tool to check everything is set up correctly
2: Reading through the 'Field Identifier' part of their docs and checking you have it set up correctly: finsweet.com/attributes/cms-filter
@@RuairiMcNicholasIE Yup, my fault, sry and thanks
If I hide the textfields with the Category it won't appear on the site, but if its visible the filter works perfectly do you know why?
Not sure to be honest - have you tried automated support?
will this work for framer?
It will not!
