I just have to say that you play this beautifully! The emotion with which you play it is fantastic. And as I watched it I thought, "I love her facial expressions!"
"La Cinquantaine" is french and is translated "The fifty". It means the 50 th wedding anniversery. Sometimes the name of this piece also is "The Golden wedding". While practicing i have always wonderd what it means and so I have googeled. :)
+whomiketrann Played once at a family reunion in jr. high school. We have alot of competition between cousins with degree's in music, etc. and 3 of my mother's siblings who all have music degree's and beyond.
This is a very helpful, "clean" and straight-forward rendition of La Cinq. Thanks. This piece stands out in the early Suzuki cello repertoire in that it was actually written for cello and piano. You can hear it... and feel it.
Keith Williams Classic cello solo, not exactly sure on what you mean by hearing and feeling this specific piece. As a young performer myself I feel you should always be able to feel any piece you play. Have a great day!
No problem :) Is there a piece that you think feels especially cello-y to you? Unfortunately, with Suzuki method for cello, we don't get a true cello piece until this one. Almost everything is adapted from other instruments. Book 4 onwards has the real stuff :)
Thanks for this beautiful interpretation! I am trying to decide which piece to play for an upcoming recital, and I think your rendition just tipped the scales toward this piece. Inspiring!
Wow you are amazing at the cello and this video has helped me a lot since I'm playing this song for NYSSMA this year so I need to practice and now I know how the song is supposed to be played so thank you I think iIwill get an outstanding now in NYSSMA :)
I love this!!! I've been told to play this for my first ever cello solo, and I'm going to practice along with this for extra help. ^_^ Thank you for posting it! =)
Well hi Katy, I never knew that you played the cello! I play the violin and cello myself and love watching your videos, you are really talented. I especially like the video when you play "Swallowtail Jig"! What a coincidence seeing you here. I also love this tune! :D
Any suggestions for a teacher that uses some of the Suzuki materials for a student with a cellist in bk 2 for goals each semester? The parents seem to want her to excel quickly. I guess their child enjoys being the best in everything.... Not sure how to address and explain to parents that music is very complex and requires careful practicing, which I don't think is happening. Sporting events many evenings a week, and games seem to be taking time away from focused practice time.
Laura Goodwin Sorry I'm late for this not sure if you're even still teaching the student, but I, as a student myself that has been excelling in many things lately including cello, recommend stressing the 30 minute practice time everyday EXACTLY how you instructed the student to. You, as a teacher, can change the student's love or hate towards music and drive them to always do their best.Hope my 2 cents helped, good luck.
@@adamnguyen3027 While teaching students, I am also very grateful to the students. What I do is what they need. The more I do, the more people are helped and the more I got. 😊
We have to convey the story behind the music. So thank you for showing your emotion. It's very important that you do not sit and play with a blank face. Thank you for the music♥️🎼🎶🎶
Leyna Maves you can go to almost any local music store and get the Suzuki cello book volume 3(or your instrument) and many other great songs for about $7
STOP saying she's creepy or her face looks like a 3 year old it's called emotions and go ahead and record urself, see if u can do better and if u don't like it then shut up and get gone
I wish Ms. Xu had played the D#...It is a mistake if you are using the Suzuki book...perhaps there is a different version. I would share the video with my students except I would not want them to learn the "wrong" version. Perhaps Ms. Xu will re-record this piece soon! I very much appreciate her work.
Actually, no. It's not bored for the pianist xD the piece is so full of accidental alterations that, if you are not paying enough attention to it, you can actually screw up the hard work of the cellist.
le lu That is normal for a good cellist, She is connecting with the song and those are emotions to help the song sound better. It’s like auto tune in a way.
Can you just stfu?! That show really good cellists play and those facial expressions show that they enjoy their music. Please think before you comment this shit
This is the best tempo for the purposes of this piece

Guys, stop saying that her face looks scary, weird or like a 3 year old. It’s called emotions. If you play the cello you will know this.

Yeah, I’m learning French and I realized that the piece was called the 50th. I wasn’t sure why, so thanks for commenting this :D
where was this 10 years ago when I needed it for my solo in middle school? It would've helped out tremendously.

Adam Nguyen you don't feel a difference when you play something composed for cello, as opposed to merely adapted?
Keith Williams Oh haha sorry Keith I focused on one part of your comment misinterpreting it, sorry, and yes I can tell the difference
No problem :)
Is there a piece that you think feels especially cello-y to you? Unfortunately, with Suzuki method for cello, we don't get a true cello piece until this one. Almost everything is adapted from other instruments. Book 4 onwards has the real stuff :)
My only problem is that the version she is playing skips about half of the sheet music I have...
Every time I practice I listen to my songs I have to practice. Your playing is really helpful, so thanks a lot!!!!

A very good performance... but she was playing D# instead of D-natural in 1:48 and in several others places in the piece.
Yes but in the Suzuki book international edition it is D#
Bravo!
You have to show emotion when playing music. ❤️
I agree! 🤝

@@mariapage9135 I absolutely love your saying: "We have to convey the story behind the music". Thank you so much for your message.❤

jack threan well would you consider a 180 years old person cute?
A random cat You don’t know idk I don’t know anyone that’s 180
jack threan just a expression
Shouldn't bar 50 & 62 be D#? I think she played D natural
