  • Cirque du Soleil brings its magic back to Halifax with six performances of its production of Corteo. Corteo means cortege in Italian, and the show is billed as "a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown."
The clown is Mauro, who envisions that "his own burial will take place in a carnival atmosphere and be attended by tender angels."
The show endeavours to "contrast the grand with the intimate, the silly with the tragic, and the beauty of perfection with the appeal of imperfection. It also emphasizes the strength and vulnerability of the clown as well as his knowledge and generosity to represent the aspect of humanity that exists in each of us."
The first performance is Thursday at 7 p.m., with an addition evening show Friday and both a matinee and evening performance on Saturday and Sunday. For more information or to buy tickets, go to the Scotiabank Centre's website.
