Pristine! My Grandfather kept a 185 and a 190 on his farm. During summers in my teens i learned to operate them. Boy, i thought i was cool! My Aunt is still running them to this day. I had to replace the oil sender elbow on the 185 earlier this week.... 40 years of use and it broke off while raking hay! Thanks for sharing!
Nice tractor. One thing the power director is great for is bailing hay. It was exceptionally well suited for the old AC Rotobaler. Watch a video on those running to see what I mean. The tractor has to stop forward motion about every 50 feet depending on how heavy the crop is. But the pto must stay on.
Beautiful tractor man. Was the cab in too bad of shape to save? I am looking for one of these 190's, 190xt's or 200's with a cab. if you have one for sale in the northeast (upstate NY, Vermont is close enough too, but I'll go much further for the right deal. Also I will consider buying anything from a AC 160 up to the 7000 series as well. Craigslist and Fastline have been a bust lately. Please contact me
The Cab is intact, but needs new rubber seals. It only had a blower fan, no AC or heat. I had to leave it off as my building is not tall enough for it to fit with it on.
When you put the gear selector in the 1-2 position, is high 2 and low 1 or are you suppose to have 2 different positions there? I have a 190 and it doesn’t feel like it has an actual two gears on one leg of the pattern
1st gear low range gives you about 2.1 mph, high range is 2.7 so only a small difference. 2nd Gear low is 3.4 and high is 4.3 so yes you should notice a difference. Depends on tire size...
My 200 allis has glow plugs you turn key and hold in a advanced position 30 sec to min.and start better to just plug in for 1hr.to start.with out ether.
Technically no as the PD has parasitic drag on it from the driveshaft turning. This means it may "Creep" forward while in neutral. If you try to shift the gears might turn and grind. That being said, people have told me it works but I have not tried it. The same as shifting on the go may work, but technically you are supposed to stop.

Nice to hear about old A-C's still being used.

@@charlie175 would you consider selling it? Where are you located? if you're no too far away I'd be very interested.
I will have a beautiful 160 with Allis Chalmers loader for sale in the not to distant future

Technically that is 1,2,3,4 in the Gear selection. I always say 1st Low or 1st High though.
Dumb question, do those use glow plugs?
No. They have a plug heater in the intake to heat up the air. It works OK, unless it's real cold
My 200 allis has glow plugs you turn key and hold in a advanced position 30 sec to min.and start better to just plug in for 1hr.to start.with out ether.
Man keep this up
Can you shift in to reverse with hand clutch in neutral and the foot clutch up

But the 190xt would stick between gears and not allowed you to get it out of gear
Never had that happen but I remember a neighbor with an early XT that had it stuck in gear. He changed to a 7000 soon after that.
One ninety xt has eight gears and reverse.
Depends on how you look at it. 4 "gears" with Reverse, with 2 speed range for total of 8 and 2 reverse.
