- Online dating has changed the way we approach and pursue relationships. Like so much in modern life, potential partners are at the mercy of an algorithm that decides who we interact with. But has technology actually changed what we’re looking for? Can attraction and desire be predicted? Helen Fisher, a biological anthropologist and Chief Science Advisor at Match.com, has been on the front lines of the clash between a centuries-old phenomenon and relatively new technology. In this episode, she talks to CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta about what has and hasn’t changed about the dating brain.

Uh, I have been dating "online" since we could only post "personals" on the last page of the paper. I am now 73, lost my partner 6 years ago. There are way fewer people on the dating apps still alive and interesting in dating in my age range now. And I see the options offered to be checked off now are way fewer. I also see that many people in this age range are checking "any" rather than specific heights, years of education, etc., etc. My gosh, my experience is exactly the story in the play, "I love you, Youre perfect, Now change."
I am 43 and hate online dating! There never has been much choice since I gave it a try in my 30's! A lot of guys are on there but not all of them are actually single and few are looking for a real connection. The men treat you like they are ordering a hooker! They don't want to take you on a date or have a relationship! It's disgusting and most of these "men" would never say what they do to a woman's face! I had a better dating experience in high school and college and it should be the opposite.
How is it that our brains haven’t changed? I am thinking no one has been able see the firing of the dead brain from our ancestors in a FMRI along with the living human brain??? It’s definitely curious and intuitively believe what she is saying however what I have learned in my almost 7 decades on earth is that we have have so much more to learn.
I want to date online and face to face one day but so very nervous. I like the male species a lot but scared no one will like passive shy me.

Well, I didn't find this very helpful at all. Ugh! Online dating is HELL and always has been. Most men on these "dating" sites are NOT looking to date! They are just looking for immediate sex and treat the women on them like hookers! Even "normal" dating has only gotten worse!

I'm curious about older adults who already have children. What is it that we are looking for or I am looking for,
dating at this age? I still feel strongly that I would like a companion. I tend to still be attracted to a man that I would want to mate with, but obviously, at my age now, I wouldn't be able to reproduce. Why do I still want that companionship?
