I'm in my mid 50's and after all these years of listening to Zeppelin It still never gets old. And it's always good to see others discover their music.
I was ten when this came out...my elder brother used to play this, and i was completely mesmerised by it. When he went out i used to sneak into his room and play this over and over again.......in one format or another ive been playing it ever since......timeless masterpiece,...timeless master band.
Ha YAY i was eight yrs old when i got to go into my older sisters room & listen to ALL her Led Zeppelin albums & They grabbed me by my Soul & never let GO & yes they consistently put in a **Trance** back then & to this day! They are a true **Treasure** & a true **Gift** to this planet cuz they are **OtherWorldlyMagical**
It's been over 50 years and I still feel that excitement every time I listen to Zep! This song was inspired by a legalize pot rally in a London park in '68, along with some Lord Of The Rings references. This song was a life changer for me! I was a very troubled teen, hating life, hating myself, hating most everything. I experieced a lot of depression and acted out a lot from anger at the world. The lyric from this song, "Why don't you take a good look at yourself and describe what you see, and baby, baby, baby do you like it?" changed my life forever. I didn't like who I was or who I was becoming, and that lyric inspired me to become someone that I could like and have respect for. It's been a long struggle but I have become that person, tho I am still a work in progress. Loved your reaction as always. You two are my fave reactors!
Many will mention that “Misty Mountains” is a Tolkien reference. And it is. But it is also a reference to Robert’s life. When he was a boy, his parents often went to the mountains and seashore of Wales on holiday, and Robert grew up being fascinated with the history, the mythology, the “spirit” of Wales. The mountains of Wales are a mystical place for Robert and he calls them The Misty Mountains. Along with the Atlas Mountains s of Morocco, they are the two places on earth closest to his heart. So when he sings of “packing his bags for The Misty Mountains” “where the spirits fly”, he is also speaking literally about himself, and where he has gone his whole life for escape, for serenity, for contemplation.
It's so hard to believe this group of four magic, mega-talented, masters only played together as a band for 12 years. YES! LEGENDS!!Absolutely the best and most vastly diverse catalog of rock, ever! As much as you enjoyed this piece, do yourselves a favor and check out "Custard Pie" from Physical Graffiti LP. ✌️💜🎶
The best, the best, the best, and the best. Found them 1970 at 19. Still love their creations. Saw them live in '72 with 70,000 other fanatics, largest stadium crowd at the time, it broke the Beatles record at Shea Stadium in NY in '64.
Led Zeppelin is considered the best rock band in history. For me, they are. I bought LZ I when I was nine years old. Every song is a classic. Album 4 is undeniably legendary, and Misty Mountain Hop is the epitome of their diversity, and always a rich and rewarding sound. I love your reaction. And I love her attraction to Robert Plant's voice and persona, LOL. Who doesn't love him?
Once again, thank you for doing my request! We’re still a long way from running out of great Zeppelin tracks 😊! And even though this isn’t one of the top ones that people think about first, this song always brings a tear to my eye because it’s just so freaking good!… When Zeppelin first started out, they had no idea of the legends they would become. They didn’t have much of an idea of how popular they would even end up being. But yes, make no mistake that after 300 million albums sold and 20 million ticket requests for one single true reunion show in 2007, they well know the impact they’ve made… Love ya and many thanks!
I love the interview of them with David Letterman in 2012 just after the Kennedy Center Honors. It’s such a hoot, and JPJ stole the show. When asked about whether or not they hung out with other bands back then, he innocently asks “Oh, were there other bands?” So funny.
THANK YOU for carrying the torch for all us Zepheads out here. I’ve had a request for That’s the Way that I’ve made twice, with donations, snd have yet to get a reaction. I don’t know how to reach them other than this way. Maybe eventually they will get to it. They loved the Going To California acoustic live clip, so that I thought they would love that song from the same performance at Earls Court.
@@helenespaulding7562 the BEST interview! I find myself watching it again and again occasionally, very funny and very touching! Love when David holds up the early pictures of them in front of the starship plane and says something like, apparently shirts were not necessary for takeoff!

Dominika hit the nail on the head. 4:30 "I don't know what the song is about and I don't care." That's been my musical journey my entire life growing up without the internet to find the lyrics and meaning. Only a couple times I have learned what a song is about and was turned off and I had to say goodbye to it. I'm not worried about any ZEP song, though. 🤘🤘

A carefree song about drugs & good times. I wish it was 1971 again & this was their new album. Where did I park my time machine ? Great reaction as always guys.
I don’t think it’s very carefree though. I think it’s an indictment against the carelessness of the urban drug-taking scene where the people “really don’t care” even about their own selfs, so he wants to run away from them to the misty mountains where you can feel peace but still keep your self.
I was a young teen when I first heard Led Zeppelin. I couldn't get enough of listening to them. I'd play the album over and over and never tire of it. And even today, when I hear one of their songs I get that exciting burst of energy and it's just as fun and thrilling as ever😊

Another Lord of the Rings reference. The Misty Mountains were created by Melkor during the Time of the Trees, who wanted to make it difficult for Oromë to pass, as he often rode across Middle-earth.
In this case the Misty mountains were a reference to a small mountain range near Plants home, not a direct reference to LOTR. Plant has stated this 100's of times, but I'm sure the double entendre was deliberate
The song is about Plant's disillusionment over the San Francisco hippy scene and how he saw it as a bunch of people who "Really don't care which way the pressure lies." He is saying no thanks, "I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains."

The best post I saw on how John Bonham played the drums was about a year ago, and it simply stated, "John hits the drums like they owe him money." I think that sums it up pretty good.
Song is about bar hopping in Seattle, where I moved for good in ‘84. Grew up with LZ, born in Glendale CA in ‘58, been living near these misty mountains that I love so much.
I have a feeling that my son was conceived to this album by Led Zeppelin 1971. I am not really a hard rock or grunge rock fan but I love Led Zeppelin. I remember first hearing the music in my junior year of high school and it was so different from listening to The Beatles or Herman's hermits Or Paul reveal in the raiders. Led Zeppelin's music gets into your soul and it just makes you feel good........... And sometimes it creates babies.😂😂
I wonder if they’ve checked out any of these reactions, by different reactors, & enjoy the love newer listeners are getting. Still touching lives after all these years, new listeners, & listeners for decades. Thanks once again for your reaction.
My girlfriend and I used to dance around her room to this song. We played it over and over. Their song Dancin Days has a similar effect. Thanks for reacting to an old favorite
Bonham sings the backing vocals on this. In the 2007 “reunion”, Jason Bonham, his son, sang the backing vocals. It’s so moving to watch the clip of it and watch Robert and Jason sharing such a special , very meaningful Moment between themselves.
Please! If you want to know what each member of Led Zeppelin knows about their "legend" status, do a reaction video of this "Heart - Stairway to Heaven Led Zeppelin - Kennedy Center Honors HD" and also other famous singers doing other Led Zeppelin songs... you will see Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant very emotional! 💓
They knew from their first rehearsal that they had something grand and very special. With Jimmy at the helm, I think at the beginning they thought they would be a successful band. What surprised them all was the breakneck speed with which they became the biggest rock band in the world; just over a year. Heck, within one year of the release of their first album they were playing at The Royal Albert Hall. That’s incredible. They were voted the top band in Britain in 1970, replacing The Beatles at that spot. So, they quickly knew they were at the top of the mountain. And there was no false modesty: They were not braggarts, but if you asked them, they would say that yes, they were where they should be; at the top of their field.
Love your reviews, I was lucky enough to understand what they were about, saw them live about 20 times in the 70s. Watch, Achilles Last Stand, 😊Nebworth Live.
I just looked through your full list of Led Zeppelin reactions and noticed one of my favs missing, 'Four Sticks'. From other reactions noted that you love John Bonham in full flight. Then this is the one you've been waiting for. The title refers to the fact that JB played this with four drumsticks. Love your reactions. Cheers✌
At a newspaper where I worked in the 90s, we asked Ace Frehley of Kiss what book he was reading and he said Lord of the Rings because he wanted to understand Led Zeppelin better.
The most common interpretation of the song's title involves a reference to the Misty Mountains in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. The lyrics refer to the events of the 7 July 1968 "Legalise Pot Rally" in Hyde Park, London, in which police made arrests for marijuana possession. The lyrics reflect Plant's quest for a better society, a place and time when hang-ups are replaced with individual freedom and a life of mutual support and rapport.

Then this is the one you've been waiting for. The title refers to the fact that JB played this with four drumsticks. Love your reactions. Cheers✌
those drums ! that high hat ...nasty !
At a newspaper where I worked in the 90s, we asked Ace Frehley of Kiss what book he was reading and he said Lord of the Rings because he wanted to understand Led Zeppelin better.
Fantabulous. Thank you
The most common interpretation of the song's title involves a reference to the Misty Mountains in J. R.
Thank you for explaining 😊
