But then when I got down, my mom and my dad told me and my brother that they were getting a divorce. I didn't know what that meant, but all I knew was that my brother was crying and my dad looked very uncomfortable. So I asked what it meant, and my mom said it means that "mommy and daddy will not be together anymore." I was shocked. Fast forward a few months later and I am living at my friends house with my brother and my mom in their basement. Me and my mom were looking a for a house online when I found a small condominium on the edge of the rotary in my town. We still live in that house today. I was still so confused, but I knew that this is what my life was going to be like from now on. Also, about a year ago, my mom changed her religion. And because of that, the only person I felt that I could trust was my friends. I do not know what I could do without them. I am so sorry that you did not have anyone to go to. Because I had my friends from school. Please know that if you are going through something like this, it will be ok one day. You are not alone. When my parents got divorced, I thought I was the only person on the planet that this had happened to. Things right now are still not great, even though I visit my father at my childhood home every other weekend and live in a small house with just my mom and her fiance. Since it was the pandemic, we all still lived together for 9 painful months. It was always so awkward in the house together. Around September when school started up again, my mom started looking for a house. We looked at a bunch of different places but finally found one in December (of 2020). I hated it but we had no other choice. This house was 3x smaller than the old house, that I had lived in for my ENTIRE life. It was very hard to leave it all behind and move the week of Christmas. Things are a little better now 5 months later but I rarely ever see my dad (who lives in the old house), because of school. I miss my old life and I miss my dad and that house. I really hope things get better and I know exactly how it feels to go through a divorce. My parents aren’t officially “divorced” yet which I’m pretty pissed about, but they should be soon. Listening to your story makes me feel better and I can really relate to it. For anyone else who is going through this stuff, I promise it gets better. I felt like my life was over when my parents separated, and I wanted to give up so badly, but it’s gotten better for me and I’m very grateful ❤️

my parents fight a lot but because they werent married, (only living together) my dad would constanly leave the house for about two days and then come back. I was starting to get used to all the fighting but then my older brother started working and it seemed like everytime he was working, my parents would fight. My dad ended up leaving for a year. My brother and I would visit him in his apartment from time to time. He came back to us when he started getting high blood pressure and my mom still loved him so she agreed to take care of him. We then moved into an apartment where i got my first room. My brother got a new job where I could barely see him at all in our home. The fighting continued to the point where my mom would call me worthless and say the reason they fight was because of me. I believed her. Luckily my brother was home the day my mom threatened to stab herself. Ever since that day my parents talked and actually calmed down a bit. We moved to a new home. We been living here since november of 2018. Things have gotten much more peaceful and I'm grateful for that. Since we've moved here there's only been one fight and luckily it was a small fight. My baby brother was born two months ago and my parents have said that they hope to one day be married and considered a normal family.

My parents divorced in October 2017 because my father had been sat at home being lazy and not bothering to go and find a job. My mum had been trying to make the best life for us as she worked full time. My dad spent so much of the money my mum earned that she ended up having to go to food banks just so we could have our breakfast. Not long after they divorced, my uncle Johnny sadly passed away in April 2018 because of a heart attack(He also had MND which means he just slowly deteriorated and he lost all work of any of his limbs. I also had to watch him suffer in a wheelchair). I told my best friend about this and she just kind of pushed it aside so I felt like I had no one to talk with because my father had disappeared from my life, my mum had been diagnosed with depression, and my brother's were going through the same thing as me. Just as things started to look up, we found my dad had been cheated on my mum since MY birthday of 2017! Later in the year Around November 2018 my grandad started having these tests because he had been feeling unwell and losing a lot of weight. I thought nothing of it because he had recently cracked his head open and I thought it might be related to that. In June 2019 I was told that he had cancer and it was bad. He couldn't get put of bed by himself, he was shaking constantly, he was incredibly skinny, This really scared me. How could someone get this bad?

I really feel what you are going through. Even though my parents were never married to begin with, and they broke up before I was born, I feel like a little part of me felt like they were still mentioned for each other. Even though they fought a lot, and my mom had a boyfriend, I felt that one day they would get back together one day, but I knew that would never happen.
I feel you 😞 my parents divorced too. There have been times where I wanted to kill myself because I thought my dad didn't love me. But the divorce is going to be finalized sometime this year. My mom and dad still get mad at each other. I remember (this I think is funny btw) my mom had this cannon ball that's at my dads. My grandfather on my moms side )when he was still around) found a cannon ball in the park and yes that was normal where they lived. My mom went to court to get her stuff back from my dads and she wanted the cannonball (mind you the cannonball was on a shelf at my dads I see it every day) and he says it's missing. That cannonball hadn't left the shelf in 7 years so how would it go missing. One day I went to play uno with my dad and the cannonball was in the drawer so I snapped a picture and sent it to my mom. We still didn't get the cannonball. End of story Thanks for posting this too Brianna!

my parents fight a lot but because they werent married, (only living together) my dad would constanly leave the house for about two days and then come back. I was starting to get used to all the fighting but then my older brother started working and it seemed like everytime he was working, my parents would fight. My dad ended up leaving for a year. My brother and I would visit him in his apartment from time to time. He came back to us when he started getting high blood pressure and my mom still loved him so she agreed to take care of him. We then moved into an apartment where i got my first room. My brother got a new job where I could barely see him at all in our home. The fighting continued to the point where my mom would call me worthless and say the reason they fight was because of me. I believed her. Luckily my brother was home the day my mom threatened to stab herself. Ever since that day my parents talked and actually calmed down a bit. We moved to a new home. We been living here since november of 2018. Things have gotten much more peaceful and I'm grateful for that. Since we've moved here there's only been one fight and luckily it was a small fight. My baby brother was born two months ago and my parents have said that they hope to one day be married and considered a normal family.

To any kid’s parent who is going thru this, your not alone. My dad lives in a different state then my brothers an me, I don’t see him on Christmas or my Birthday’s this has been happening for about 5 years.. and I’m alive so you can do it too..🍒💛
My parents divorced in October 2017 because my father had been sat at home being lazy and not bothering to go and find a job. My mum had been trying to make the best life for us as she worked full time. My dad spent so much of the money my mum earned that she ended up having to go to food banks just so we could have our breakfast. Not long after they divorced, my uncle Johnny sadly passed away in April 2018 because of a heart attack(He also had MND which means he just slowly deteriorated and he lost all work of any of his limbs. I also had to watch him suffer in a wheelchair). I told my best friend about this and she just kind of pushed it aside so I felt like I had no one to talk with because my father had disappeared from my life, my mum had been diagnosed with depression, and my brother's were going through the same thing as me. Just as things started to look up, we found my dad had been cheated on my mum since MY birthday of 2017! Later in the year Around November 2018 my grandad started having these tests because he had been feeling unwell and losing a lot of weight. I thought nothing of it because he had recently cracked his head open and I thought it might be related to that. In June 2019 I was told that he had cancer and it was bad. He couldn't get put of bed by himself, he was shaking constantly, he was incredibly skinny, This really scared me. How could someone get this bad?

My parents got a divorce when I was 3, I feel like people don’t understand that it’s ok, you will be sad and upset but you can’t think your whole life that your life is ruined, it’s not. It’s been 10 years since there divorce and it gets better I promise!!!! 💗💗

That's super sad. I know some people that go through the exact same thing as you. It's really hard and stressful your very strong to go through this. I can see how your parents wanted you to be old and understand divorces,and have a happy 18 years of life before knowing that your dad doesn't love your mom. I'm not gonna pick sides. But I love you, and I hope you are happy and remember if you think you don't have any one or that it's your fault remember it isn't your fault and dad and mom really does love you. I really feel what you are going through. Even though my parents were never married to begin with, and they broke up before I was born, I feel like a little part of me felt like they were still mentioned for each other. Even though they fought a lot, and my mom had a boyfriend, I felt that one day they would get back together one day, but I knew that would never happen.

I feel you 😞 my parents divorced too. There have been times where I wanted to kill myself because I thought my dad didn't love me. But the divorce is going to be finalized sometime this year. My mom and dad still get mad at each other. I remember (this I think is funny btw) my mom had this cannon ball that's at my dads. My grandfather on my moms side )when he was still around) found a cannon ball in the park and yes that was normal where they lived. My mom went to court to get her stuff back from my dads and she wanted the cannonball (mind you the cannonball was on a shelf at my dads I see it every day) and he says it's missing. That cannonball hadn't left the shelf in 7 years so how would it go missing. One day I went to play uno with my dad and the cannonball was in the drawer so I snapped a picture and sent it to my mom. We still didn't get the cannonball. End of story
